The staff seem very hard working but at times shorten numbers, no doubt just meeting the minimum requirements to maximise the 'big-boys' profit. The outside space need improvements/modernization. A 'growing' area for the children would be great so they learn about fruit and vegetables. An excellent
and wide-ranging selection of food/meals which is popular with our son. The staff are well liked by our son.

A good experience. My daughter is happy at the nursery and seems to have positive relationships and experiences there. Play is imaginative and food varied. She always seems to eat it all.

Staff are friendly and accommodating and have good information on how each day has gone.

My son is in the baby room. He clearly loves being there and has great affection for the baby room staff, and they for him.
He always seems stimulated and engaged by the various activities and every week he brings home a new skill or behaviour that he’s learned.
He also does get ‘babied’ when this
is needed and it’s nice to know that, just like at home, there’s no limit on cuddles.
My daughter has been attending the preschool for about eight months and I am very happy with the care she receives there. The staff are all caring and kind and treat her as an individual while consistently reinforcing socialisation and names.
I’m particularly pleased with the increasing focus on getting ready for school as my child and her older classmates face their first day of school in September.
The learning activities are fantastic and really stick eg my daughter can recite the names of the planets in the correct order!

Choosing the right nursery is such a huge and daunting decision for all parents, but I think this is especially true when it's your first child. We visited lots of different nurseries and although Beckenham Day Nursery and Preschool wasn't the closest to our home, we got the best feeling when we met
the staff and were shown around.

I'm pleased to say we made the right decision for our daughter, who was just about 1 year old when she first started. The staff are incredible, the love and care they show to all of the kids there is plain to see every single day, and we instantly knew she was in the right place.

Over the past 6 months, our daughter has developed brilliantly and this is in no small part down to the varied activities, lovely food, cute friends she's made and the professionalism and love shown by the team. Can't recommend them enough.

When choosing a nursery I warmed to Teddies because of the home from home feel, I preferred the layout of this nursery and the staff immediately felt like friends, big smiles and cuddles for my children. My daughter started off in September attending morning session and straight away the nursery staff
picked up on her delayed speech and language communication. Without the referral from the nursery getting her speech and language sessions might have been a more lengthy process. Once I retuned to work full time both children (2.5 years & 10 months) started to attend Teddies 3 full days a week. The staff at Teddies have been so accommodating and couldn't have made my return to work more smoother.
The meals are great and they also provide nappies. Thankfully both children look forward to their days at nursery and this is because of the staff making them feel welcomed. Free road parking at the nursery also helps with access to Elmers End station if travelling into London, massive bonus!

My child is well looked after and enjoys going to nursery. All members of staff go out of their way to ensure the safety and protection of my child at all times.

Teddies appealed to us initially due to the friendliness of staff, the large outside space and you could see the children were happy and engaged with by staff. It is more pricey than other nurseries but we felt it was worth it. The Team have always listened to and accommodated our requests. Our son
is very happy at Teddies and has lots of friends. The menu is varied and has actually helped us introduce new foods at home. The outside space has been developed and is amazing. We had some issues with arranging our childcare vouchers but eventually got it sorted. There are plenty of structured learning activities and free play. I have no hesitation recommending Teddies and an added bonus is it is close to Elmers End Station so great for drop off and pick up.

My son is currently in the pre-school room at Teddies and my daughter has just left, having progressed to school. The staff at Teddies are always welcoming and warm towards the children and ready to give hugs when needed. When my daughter had a problem with another child they worked really hard with
us to help resolve the issue. It's reassuring to know that they are well cared for when you are not around. They do have a high turnover of staff but I think it's the same in many workplaces. At least they have a regular group of temporary staff that they use so they know the children. The food is excellent, good selection of healthy options. The outside space is great too since it was refurbished with various wooden play equipment. My only gripe would be the cost as they are expensive compared to other nurseries in the area. I think the nursery benefits from being part of a large company though and the training and support that goes with that.

Lovely nursery with friendly staff and a recently redesigned garden. Our daughter loves it there!

Our son was in the preschool and left well prepared for school. The staff are very friendly and caring. The baby room is lovely light and large. There is not perhaps as much equipment or ICT in the nursery

as in others but they make up for this with caring staff.

My daughter has tried a wide range of different foods there and always eats the meals provided.

My daughter thoroughly enjoys attending Teddies and has learnt a lot through her carers and key person. Whilst I am overall content with the Nursery, I do feel that there has been a high turnover of staff in recent months and several staff who I presume to be temps filling in for the day. Of course
this is to be expected to an extent, but does feel to have been a lot of new faces and changes that have not been documented on the (out-of-date) staff board at the entrance.

Also, whilst the Manager is away on adoption leave, I do not feel that her management cover has been as involved with the parents as she had previously been; in the months that her cover has been at the nursery, I am still not sure as to which member of staff she is? Obviously there are a fair few parents with children attending the nursery but would have liked to have been introduced.

Our son has flourished at Teddies Nurseries Beckenham. He started in the baby room at 9 months and he's now just about to move to the 2-3 room. He has built up fantastic relationship with not only his key worker but the other staff too. Most mornings he toddles off for a cuddle with one of the staff
before breakfast. The routines and comforting surroundings give confidence and reassurance but he is never bored because of the variety of activities and lovely garden.

My daughter has been going to this nursery for over 6 months now and overall we're very happy with the level of care. Staff are really lovely, they genuinely care for the children and I can see good bonds forming. The new garden is fantastic, a real inspiration for the children. Organisation is sometimes
a bit lacking, communication from the managers not great and parent feedback could be more encouraged, but this is not unique to this nursery. Food is good, my daughter eats it all but it could be slightly healthier.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.802)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.802) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Beckenham Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 19 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.827 for Bright Horizons Beckenham Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (193 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 226 Ratings = 4.827
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.975 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Beckenham Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 19 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.975
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 52 number of registered child places is 10.4, which has been reached with 19 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
