AN OUTSTANDING AND WELCOMING NURSERY IN WHETSONE

Whetstone Day Nursery and Preschool is a well-resourced and purpose-built nursery carefully designed to support your child’s education and development, from 3 months to 5 years.
The nursery offers children a warm, cosy environment where each age-appropriate room has play and learning resources to engage the natural curiosity of your child. They have a glass wall that separates the two-to-three year old room from the preschooler room. This helps to prepare the children for smooth transitions into preschool. There is a lot of natural light in both under twos rooms, and the baby room has a relaxing, homely feel.
The atmosphere is one of fun and active play and the staff use the children’s interests to plan stimulating activities, challenging their growing independence, confidence and understanding. Children especially love the roof top terrace garden where they can enjoy the sand and water trays.
The team at Whetstone nursery supports all aspects of learning and development prioritised by the EYFS and they follow their own unique Growing Enhancements programme for preschoolers. This includes Growing Readers, Writers and Mathematicians, alongside Growing Artists, Growing Scientists and Creative Cooks. The enriching activities are designed to encourage your child’s natural curiosity to learn and inspire their interest in food and art, helping to lay the foundations for future academic and creative achievements and giving the perfect prelude to school.
The nursery's excellent reputation is the result of the close working relationships with families and the fantastic team spirit of the dedicated, long-standing team. The experienced and qualified staff speak a variety of 11 languages and always have the children as their priority.

All staff are so helpful and are so caring towards all the children. At the end of each day, staff generally give good feedback telling us how our child behaved, how he interacted with friends, as well as funny moments that happened throughout the day. This helps us to have more detailed conversations
with our child about his day.
Our child has developed so much since starting the nursery. He is happy to go in most days and has built special relationships with all the staff.

Bright Horizons Whetstone have been absolutely amazing from the day of viewing the nursery up until now. My son started at the nursery from 9 months old and he is now 17 months and thriving. The staff have all been so wonderful and accommodating as my son had additional health needs. I couldn't recommend
this nursery more. It is honestly such a great nursery!!

Following a not so great experience with another local nursery, i chose this nursery following a recommendation from a group of mums i met in the park.
I was very nervous to move my 20 month old as she is quite attached to me and was struggling for months with drop offs at her other nursery.
However,
the management team have been paitent, friendly and understanding with us and staff in the room are amazing with our baby, you can really see what lovely bonds they have with the childen in their group.
We often walk in to see the staff chatting and laughing in the office with the manager which also reassures us of the happy environment for everyone.
My daughter now goes in happy and often waits at the door with her backpack ready to go.
We get to see daily photos of what our little ones doing, the environment is beautiful and the activities always look fun and engaging.


I will recommend this nursery until the cows come home haha.

We joined BH after a negative experience at another nursery so imagine my nerves!! But my nerves have been put to rest the managers warm yet professional manner put me at ease almost instantly and this manner filters through the whole nursery everyone is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable I love
that all staff know all children regardless of which room they are in.
My daughter speaks of nursery at home (staff and friends) and can't wait to get through the door each day, the experiences and resources provided are out of this world and I have seen tons of progress in my daughter since attending here.
I have no doubts in recommending this nursery to anyone looking for a safe, loving and nurturing environment for their child.

Couldn’t be happy with the nursery.
I was a bit worried about the transition from our childminder, but it went so well.
The team is just amazing and my kid loves it there!

Both our children are at the Whetstone Nursery. They are there full-time, so spend about 40 hours a week at the nursery. They absolutely love going every day. They are excited about all the activities they are doing and playing with their friends. We find the staff phenomenal; very caring and always
with an eye on the personal development of our children. We also find them very flexible; so feels like a true partnership. Anyone who asks, I only ever highly recommend the nursery.

Our baby started nursery a couple of months ago at eight months old. We had a lot of worries about our baby starting nursery so little. The staff have been amazing since day one. Our baby is well looked after by kind and caring staff and has settled in well. Our baby is so happy and thriving at the

My daughter attends Bright Horizons. She and I love it! The teachers are great and very helpful. The lesson plans and curriculum are encouraging and promising. The atmosphere is well thought out and just a beautiful place for children to grow/develop. Within my daughter's first week of attending, she

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2020

From a young age, Nicole has always had a passion for early years education. Her childcare journey began in 2008 as a student assistant, progressing to nursery assistant soon after.


Nicole joined Bright Horizons in February 2012 at the Southgate Nursery, where she worked as a nursery nurse for nearly a year before becoming a room leader — a role she proudly held for five years. She later advanced to third in charge, and in 2020 became the Deputy Manager at Bright Horizons Whetstone Nursery.


Having fallen in love with Whetstone’s warm and nurturing environment, Nicole was delighted to step into the role of Nursery Manager in April 2024.


She wholeheartedly embraces the Bright Horizons mission and finds nothing more rewarding than watching children grow, learn and reach their full potential during their time at the nursery.

Alex

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Alex began her career in early years at the age of 19, starting as an apprentice in the Toddler Room, where she quickly discovered how rewarding life as a nursery nurse can be. After completing her Level 2 qualification, she went on to achieve her Level 3 and spent two years supporting the toddler age group before progressing to Preschool. There, she embraced new challenges and took pride in helping children gain the confidence and skills they need for a successful start at school.


During this time, Alex was given the opportunity to become the SENCo, a role that deepened her passion for ensuring every child has the best possible start in life through close partnerships with parents and professionals. In 2018, she was promoted to Third in Charge, recognising her dedication and leadership within the nursery.


After welcoming her son in 2022 and taking two years to focus on family life, Nicole returned to Bright Horizons in April 2025 as Baby Room Leader and Third in Charge. She feels proud to be part of the Bright Horizons family and finds immense joy in watching each child grow, learn and thrive from their very first day until they are ready for school.
