Located within the grounds of John Perry Primary School, Chestnut Nursery School John Perry (Rated Good by Ofsted (October 2024), is a purpose-built setting designed to support children’s growth and development from birth.

The nursery comprises three spacious classrooms:

Great nursery. My son and daughter have enjoyed their time here. The staff are friendly and caring and you can see they take an interest in the children. My children were always happy and excited to attend. They do lots of fun and educational activities.

Hello, my daughter currently attends. I would like to express my gratitude to the entire team at Chestnut Nursery School (John Perry). These people are amazing at their jobs. They take extremely good care of my child. My daughter is very happy when she visits the nursery. He even has a favourite girl
from the staff - She always goes in a good mood and always leaves happy. They have different educational activities every day as well as lots of entertainment. I am extremely delighted and satisfied with everything offered there. The best place for my child. I hope she will be accepted into the school as well. This is her little dream. Stay healthy and keep being the best.

I really like the nursery and how well my child has settled in. He is always happy to go and seems to be developing really well.
I think communication to and from the nursery is generally good but can be improved by an update of the app. It is not updated consistently. The app isn't great because
it only provides the bare minimum (meals and nappy changes) when updated by staff. The learning outcomes are always received very late. This is a huge disadvantage as I have no idea what my child gets up to at nursery. There is never any mention of activities that happen each week. In approximately 6 months, he has only come home with artwork on two occasions.
It would be great if there was mention of activities my kid enjoys. I'm not sure if there are any parent's evenings either.
Due to the lack of regular updates, issues with the app, and very minimal mention of activities, I would say it isn't great value for money. But my son enjoys it, and the staff are great.

Attending nursery has helped my son a lot in his development, he is much calmer and listens more. He looks forward to coming in which shows how much he enjoys attending nursery. The staff and manager are all lovely, approachable and kind. They always give updates regarding my child's day in the nursery,
and what they have eaten and are always happy to answer any questions I have. Overall I am very happy with the nursery.

All my children have been to Chestnut Nursery, the staff members are so attentive, kind and protective over all the children. The safeguarding and overall care for my children have been amazing. Very informative and it's comforting to see close bonds between my children and their staff members. I have
a high level of trust for my children to be in their care and all my recommendations for my children's care have always been respected and implemented. Overall the nursery and its staff are amazing and I cannot fault them especially when it comes to my children's safety and their upkeep.

My daughter started the nursery in January 2020 and graduated in July 2021. In that period of time, the staff have supported her learning and growth in herself. Throughout the pandemic, they made her feel safe and comfortable coming into nursery. She has learnt so much and absolutely adored each and

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2014

I am the manager of Chestnut Nursery Schools, John Perry. I have been working for Chestnut for over 9 years in our Barking and Dagenham and Forest Gate branches. I hold a Level 3 Childcare qualification with years of childcare experience. Working in our nursery involves being part of a team and caring for children who are a variety of ages. I enjoy working with parents and carers to make sure that the nursery gives their children the best care possible, having that great partnership for the best start and end of nursery life. That means providing a safe and stimulating environment for the children to do a variety of creative activities, exploring the outdoors, and generally making sure they are having fun whilst they are learning. All children have their own unique characteristics. Seeing our children learn, explore, and develop is such a beautiful milestone. I enjoy being creative, working with young children to make our nursery a caring, safe, and enjoyable experience for all children who attend.
