My daughter attended Dicky Birds for 3 years and was very well cared for throughout. The staff are caring and friendly and give honest feedback on progression to parents. Facilities are great with a lovely garden setting, trips to Forest School, the theatre, PE and farm visits! I think that my daughter's time at Dicky Birds set her up for school and she still talks about her friends and carers now that she has left as they all made a positive impact on her development and early years. My daughter started in the ducklings room and then moved to sparrows and both have been fantastic. The staff is caring and they seem to do lots of activities. We get regular updates about what they've done and what they're going to be doing the next week, which is great as it helps me feel more informed about my daughter's Day. They seemed to spend lots of time in the garden or in the local park, which I absolutely love. I was a bit worried about her transition from the baby into the toddler room and I wanted to do it a bit earlier as I was having another baby and didn't want that transition at the same time, and the management staff were very accommodating. I think my only criticism would be that some days (particularly around the holidays) the primary staff didn't seem to be there (at least at drop off and pick up). But I think it was a timing thing, as most days the key staff workers we know are there even if others are there as well.

It is a pleasure to see my son going happily to his carers in the morning and coming back to me happily at the end of the day. Overall nursery feels a little chaotic, staff are lovely but I feel they could do with having another member of staff to help,would of been nice to receive welcome pack with maybe a little paragraph on each member of staff with their interests and qualifications, also compared with other nursery apps not much detail given with the meals eg not told what food was served, eg lunch, all, little none, very basic, toilet visits also aren't recorded, on other nursery apps I've also seen a weekly plan outline for each day so we know what children can be expected to be doing that day,eg water play, making monsters, yoga etc. coat pegs with childrens face and name would be nice in hallway too, there is room for this but it seems they just cram bags in bathroom, also be nice to have doors in the toilets to add privacy for children.

Please be assured that children's bags and any other personal items are safely stored at the beginning of the day, and that children's privacy is well-respected in our toilets.

I have two children at Dickie Birds, one in pre school and one in Sparrows. My daughter started from another nursery straight into pre school and my son started in the baby room. I was nervous about my daughter starting in pre school trying to make new friends and get used to a new environment but she couldn't have been happier - the new experiences like PE and forest school she has absolutely loved. The staff made her feel so welcome and were so caring, the new management team are also so great. They have been amazing and supportive with any issues relating to health / development and great communication. When I drop them off I feel so lucky to know that they are left with staff who genuinely love and care for them. Thank you to all the staff and management at Dickie Birds we couldn't have chosen a better nursery!

While I am writing this review on the back of the incredible pre-school graduation ceremony that DB held in July 2025, I want to express how bittersweet it is to be moving on from the wonderful DB family as my child goes off to Reception on September. I have always felt that my child is safe, well-looked after, encouraged to be brave and try new things (PE at South Park Gardens is one of her favourite activities), and taught to care for her classmates, nature, and animals (the petting zoo and farm animals brought in for the summer party were a nice touch!). We know the staff members by name, and they genuinely care for the children they look after. My child has been at DB since July 2022 when she started in Ducklings, and just this past week was given a cap and gown to wear for her graduation ceremony, which boasted balloons, thoughtful gift bags, a magician, and treats for all. DB knows how to make children and parents feel special - it's a wonderful community. Thank you to everyone.
