Buttercups Chiswick is conveniently located next to Gunnersbury Park tube station and is situated in a 4-storey Edwardian townhouse where each age group has their own dedicated room. The preschool children enjoy the whole top floor with Montessori classrooms. As well as the small but well-stocked garden, older children get to enjoy the mini forest at the nearby sister nursery in Chiswick Lane.

At Buttercups, they believe that a well-cared for team results in well-cared for children. They are committed to making sure staff feel supported, rewarded and challenged and continually develop the skills and qualifications of the team through in-house training programmes and external courses.

The nursery adopts a range of teaching approaches, including Montessori which emphasises children's ability to learn through play and make their own decisions, promoting their independence and confidence as they begin their learning journey. They also encourage children to spend as much time outside as possible, integrating plenty of opportunities for outside play and encouraging a love for nature.

I can't say enough good things about this nursery. My sons have been going since they were babies, and I'm continually amazed by the warmth and skill of the staff.
We feel very lucky that our boys have spent so much of their early years in this environment.

We have two sons at Buttercups in Chiswick (4 and 2). They have thrived there under the care and instruction of a very dedicated and supportive team. It's been wonderful for their social and creative development and great preparation for going to school. Our eldest son also attends the adjunct Forest
School that operates on Fridays and loves it. Our third son will go to Buttercups later this year. We'd wholeheartedly recommend it to parents in the area.

We moved to Chiswick in September 2016 and since I was not working at the time, I spent a lot of time viewing nurseries as I was looking for the right place for my daughterly full time, 5 days a week. She is very active and gets bored quite quickly, that is why I was paying a lot of attention to activities
and to how the children were looking (were they bored? were they in a corner? were they silent?). I had time to visit some places more than once to check if my first impression was the right one or not. Chiswick Buttercups was actually outstanding under all points of view and all the times. First of all, the feeling you have when you get in is that of being at home. The tour we were given was extremely detailed and looked sincere (often they are just built up to impress!) and the kids were looking happy and healthy! My partner and I (who are really not easy ones!) are extremely happy, and so is our daughter every morning when she arrives! We could not recommend it highly enough.

Choosing a nursery is no easy task. I looked at every single one in a 5-mile radius. I knew instantly that Buttercups was the one for my daughter and I am now starting my son in the baby room. They key thing for me is the staff. They are affectionate, warm, and never miss an opportunity to teach and
inspire. This is reflected in the very low staff turnover (surely one one of the lowest rates around?). In two years, my daughter has never had a change of key worker (except of course when moving up rooms). As a parent, I feel completely engaged in the activities of the nursery, and enjoy the teas/ breakfasts/ fun days/ explaining my job sessions! What I particularly like is that learning themes come from the children, and their experiences, rather than being prescriptive. I feel like the manager is fully there for parents and children - she has proved very receptive to suggestions/ comments and is always available for a chat. Plus, we love Forest School - of course!

We had 2 daughters at Buttercups Chiswick and, as foreigners, they were very welcomed and adapted very quickly to language and school mainly due to the professional and warm approach by all staff people. Since before moving to the UK, the director was very helpful.
We definitely recommend to every
parent. Kids enjoyed very much the Fridays at Forest School, which gave them a different perspective on how to handle day to day activities.

My oldest son who is now 6 years old and in year one was very happy at Buttercups for 3 years before we moved abroad briefly in 2014.


Since we have been back, his little brother has been at the nursery since September 2016 and he is doing very well.


We love the place, the caregivers and the

pastoral care they provide the children. Will recommend it over and over again to friends and family.

Our son is currently going to the nursery and is very happy. He has developed a very close bond with the staff and is making very good progress in his development. There are loads of activities indoor and outdoors. Excellent monitoring and feedback to the parents. We are delighted!

My Son has been at Buttercups for over 2 years and my daughter has just started her first week. Both children are extremely happy. The staff are wonderful and the nursery has a real home-like environment which the children all seem to love. My son attends forest school on a Friday which is fantastic.
Having this part of the nursery is just an enormous bonus, another great activity that Buttercups provide. The teaching is great. They make it interesting and varied and my son often surprises me with what he has learned when he comes home.
Every day we are provided with a detailed update of what our child has been up to and also what (delicious) freshly cooked meal they have eaten along with super healthy snacks. Makes me want to attend every lunchtime! When we have been away on family trips, they encourage us to send pictures so they can be displayed in their classroom. They love seeing the photo's around their room and telling their friends about their trips.

Our daughter started Nursery at the age of 2 and was with Buttercups for 2 years. Still have fond memories of the time she started. We are extremely satisfied with the care she received at Buttercups. We have seen tremendous progress in our daughter and the discipline and the routine that was set by
the nursery at that early age has stayed on. She has got an excellent foundation thanks to the lovely staff, each one of them has always been extremely cooperative, friendly and forthcoming. They worked with us through all the challenges and bought the best out in our child and for that, we are always grateful and thankful to all of them. The activities for the children are total fun and creative and ensured they were fully occupied. The feedback every day was top notch, telling us minute details of the day, keeping us up to date. The Children seemed extremely comfortable and confident. We would surely recommend the Nursery to a lot of our friends.

I have two children that went to Buttercups Chiswick. My eldest son was there for two and a half years and my younger son was there for three months. We have moved to a new area and that's the only reason they no longer go to Buttercups Chiswick.
I can't recommend it highly enough! The staff are wonderful.
They really care about the children and are enthusiastic and happy. They do lots of fun activities and help your child explore and learn. There is a very homely environment and the staff know all of the children by name.
They have started a Forest school on Friday's for children over three years and my eldest son absolutely loved this. They give very detailed handovers so you know exactly what your child has been up to during the day and send a weekly news email about all the activities the children have been involved in.

Firstly, I would like to point out I have high expectations and I'm extremely fussy! The nursery is a warm, intimate place with high standards when it comes to the learning and development of children. My daughter spent at Buttercups she has become independent, confident and has really thrived. There
is weekly 'fit & fun', imaginative classes, weekly Forest school. The parents are part of the nursery community from attending the Christmas party to sharing pancakes with their children on shrove Tuesday. The nursery prepared my daughter well for school. There are three groups in the nursery - baby room), Blue group with the 2-3 year olds who are located on the first floor. Their room needs an update but the activities and learning there are fantastic. Yellow group has the 3-5 year olds and is a brand light filled space for the busy engaged children. All the staff are fantastic. If you want a caring nursery which values education as much as childcare this may be the place for you.

Job Title: Nursery Head Joined: 2017

Laura has risen through the Buttercups ranks, originally starting as a nursery practitioner in our Syon Park setting. Laura continued her studies and was promoted to Room Manager, and Deputy Manager and now she manages our Chiswick nursery. Recently she achieved her Level 6 Early Years Qualification.
