Streatham Montessori Day Nursery

Our son attended Streatham Montessori for one and a half years and we couldn’t recommend it enough, this is a truly amazing nursery. The staff are very knowledgeable, kind and intuitive. We never had to worry about our son while he was there and he learnt so much from his time there. If you’re in any doubt as to where to send your child, send them here, it is the best start you could possibly hope for!

We were so happy to find this nursery - having been to a Montessori nursery myself we loved the philosophy, and we liked the cosy family-home vibes. Our daughter started just before her first birthday, and she went in happily from the start! Over the year that she was there she absolutely thrived, coming out happy every day, with new bits of knowledge that we didn't expect her to have learned yet. They helped her to overcome an apprehension towards messy play, which she learned to love, and her confidence and independence grew during her time there. I loved the creative touches - the staff would make little keepsakes like Christmas decorations with her face on, or laminated photo books, that were just precious. I was also so happy with the food she was served, it was more nutritious and varied than I've seen elsewhere. It felt like a home from home, and honestly it was one of the reasons we put off moving from the area, but sadly after a year we had to say goodbye. We will miss it!

He was sad to leave for school, as were we, but he had a good grounding that I feel will serve him well when he's at school and he's made some great friends!

Children occasionally go on day trips and there are social family events. Also teacher review sessions every few months with helpful feedback.

Excellent nursery. The teachers are patient and really care about the child and their development. My son was happy and made some amazing connections and friends. Would be great if the communication could be improved on activities, etc, but regular meetings with the key carer keep you up to date on your child's progress.

I love how the children's birthdays are celebrated reflecting on their journey since the age 1,2,3 and so on. There are many good memories from this nursery and I recommend it to any prospective families especially if you want your child to be in smaller classrooms and have a chance to learn at their own pace.

Both of our children had a fantastic time at Streatham Montessori. They made excellent progress, were well looked after, made great friends and fully ready to start school by the time they left. The staff here are fantastic: extremely caring, reliable, and encouraging. This is a proper Montessori run on proper Montessori principles and the children learn through play and exploring their world, as well as equipment specifically for learning letters, numbers and quantities. And the way they are able to get all these young children calmly sitting around the table and serving each other lunch is a thing to behold! Our family will have fond memories of this nursery for many many years. Thank you all!

We adore Streatham Montessori and all the staff who work there! The most important thing about a nursery is the people caring for your little ones, and the staff at this nursery are amazing. They stay for years and years, which gives the place an amazing family feel and makes the children feel super settled and attached. My oldest has just left for school and still talks every day about her key worker. The manager owns the nursery and is still at the front door welcoming us, 30 years after she set it up. It's a really special place which we are thrilled to have found.

My experience with Streatham Montessori has been spectacular. Both of my children have really enjoyed their time here and have learnt so much. They confidence and independence has grown since being there age 1. It feels like a community being part of Streatham Montessori. Highly recommend.

My kid had such a great time in this nursery. Staff really care for my child. They are lovely and very helpful; they also kept me updated whenever needed. Teachers organised a variety of weekly activities, which made my kid learn a lot. He will truly miss his nursery.

They are also unbelievably wonderful with each child in their care - I believe the evidence of this is evident when you see children excited to go to nursery (this is the case for nearly every child). My son is an only child, so he is more prone to being clingy, but when it comes to nursery mornings, he runs to get his coat and shoes and has even been naming the teachers to me when I tell him it's time to go "to school ."My son has been there for a year now, and his development is evident every day. He is not even 2-years yet and already tries to say "helicopter," which is remarkable. What I find particularly wonderful is that you get a daily update on what your baby has done during the day.

Great nursery - very friendly staff management is excellent very clean. My son loves going to this nursery Never a dull moment when it's time for Nursey Every parent should understand how important it is to know that your child is in good hands. I would greatly recommend this nursery to anyone excellent.

I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nursery in the area, and I feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful and happy environment for my son.

Our daughter started going to nursery when she was 10-months-old, and we have been happy from day one. She is always happy and keen to go inside and happily gets staff when she sees them. What we particularly like is that the manager, who set the nursery up, is greeting the child at the door and knows all their names. We also like the fact that there seems to be plenty of outdoor time, a real variation of toys and the food is cooked on-site and varied. We could not have sent our daughter to a better nursery.

My son started when he was 10 months old, he spent four years at this nursery. I feel I couldn't have found a better place for my child, especially when he was in the care of the staff. These ladies are so sweet and caring, I knew my baby was loved and well looked after. My son missed them a lot when moved on the 2years old class at first. But then with the teacher being so lovely as well, he adapted to the class very quickly. Although my child was attending nursery only 2 days a week he learned a lot and was well supported by the staff. We speak different languages at home so my son had difficulties with some pronunciations. They gave him one to one sessions to help him improve his speech. He's now a very confident boy and was well prepared for his transition to reception. Thank you to all the staff for the amazing job you're doing.

I was really sad to have to take him out as I feel he would have continued to flourish there!

I would highly recommend Streatham Montessori Nursery and Day Care. The staff are very warm and welcoming. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed her time at the nursery and although she is in school now, we often pop in to say hi.

Thank you so much for the care you gave to our daughter. She left your delightful and heartwarming nursery to which I feel saddened, it was like a second home to her.

When we visited your nursery, we knew this was the place where she would nurture and grow into the wonderful little girl that she is now. She has formed very good relationships with both friends and teachers which we feel, will help her for her future relationships.

I would lastly like to shout out to three key workers, all have hearts of gold! My daughter has started preschool nown at her sister's primary school, but she still mentions the staff at Streatham Montessori Nursery every other day.

My 2-year-old daughter attends Streatham Montessori two mornings a week. Even though she is there relatively less than most of the other children in her class, she has been welcomed in with exactly the same level of attention and care as all the children are. It feels like another home.

At the nursery, I was delighted to see that the children have small sinks where they can wash their own dishes, and also wash and prepare the fruit they eat. Children are encouraged to be responsible, to find pleasure in all sorts of tasks, to follow their own interests. There is joy and learning to be had at every moment. After a couple of weeks at nursery, my daughter went of her own accord from nappies to using the toilet, which I think says a lot about how safe and encouraged she felt to be independent.

The staff running the nursery are warm, genuine, extremely capable and passionate about their work. I feel so lucky to have found this nursery, and my daughter absolutely loves it too!

Very happy with the service and will recommend anyone with children under the age of five to put their child there and know they would not be disappointed.
