The Review Score of 9 (maximum of 10) for Bright Horizons Spitalfields Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 10 Reviews over all time. This Average Rating is also the rating value for Bright Horizons Spitalfields Day Nursery and Preschool in Google's Search Results - more info

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months.

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating of all Reviews over all time. For each review the Day Nursery / service is rated Excellent, Good, Satisfactory, Poor or Very Poor on a number of areas eg Staff, Management etc. The Day Nursery receives points for each rating as follows: Excellent = 5. Good = 4. Satisfactory = 3. Poor = 2. Very Poor = 1. These points are added up and then divided by the total number of completed ratings to generate the average rating.

    The Average Rating of 4.492 for Bright Horizons Spitalfields Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (71 Excellents x 5) + (38 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.492

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 12 months. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with 'Extremely Likely' or 'Likely' in answer to the question 'How likely are you to recommend this Day Nursery to friends and family?'

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 5 Positive Reviews, 3 points for the first Positive Review and then 0.25 Points for each of the next 4 Positive Reviews.

    2. 1 point is available for reaching a target number of Positive Reviews based on 20% of the number of registered maximum number of service users. If the target is partially reached then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery with 50 registered maximum number of service users has a target of 10 Positive Reviews, if it has 10 or more Positive Reviews it will receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews will receive 0.7 points.

    3. If there are no Positive Reviews in the last 12 months, then 2.5 points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 2 years. The calculation is the same as above, except the points are divided by 2.

The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Spitalfields Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 12 months and is calculated as follows:

    1. 3 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 = 4

    2. Target of 10 positive Reviews (50 registered maximum number of service users ÷ 5). 5 Reviews ÷ 10 Target = 0.500

A lovely nursery in central London. My daughter attends the toddler room now and has been there since she was 9 months. Staff are really good, easy to talk to and supported by management. The nursery is now having a refurbishment and looks better and better every day, in addition, looks like lots of new resources had been bought too!!!
There is an outdoor space too that it's amazing to have in central London!!!

Really friendly nursery with great staff, conveniently located for me in the City of London by my office.

My daughter loves it and is stretched with varying activities in the toddler room.

Staff genuinely care, take feedback and act upon it and create a fun environment for the children.

Fully deserve their recent "Outstanding" Ofsted rating.

Would be great to have more outdoor space and also have some trips outside.
Refurbishment is planned which is great as the school needs it.
The staff are nice and the nursery head is lovely.
More attention to healthy food will be appreciated, including homemade snack and cakes.
It would be great if the air is changed more as feels very stuffy.
Learning: it doesn't look like daily activities are structured so much for the pre-schooler, would expect more numbers and letters learning, but I could be wrong as I just don't hear my daughter coming home and telling me what she has learned.

-Nursery staff and management are absolutely top class, always warm and friendly. Enthusiastic and makes one feel at home.

- Nursery could do with a bit more outdoor space/activities but guess that's the limitation of being in the centre of the city.

Fantastic care for my pre-schooler and one year old.

Our key workers know our children well, and subsequently get the best out of them.

All of the staff understand that our family life is busy due to a lot of work and travel by parents and support us however they can.

This nursery is more expensive than ones closer to our home, however, the hours are better for city workers and the value for money is excellent.

The nursery is fab. Our daughter began in the baby room at a little over 1 year old, and had a ball there, growing and developing into the confident toddler she is today. The staff helped her learn to walk, use a spoon at mealtimes, and much much more. They genuinely care and follow your lead with routines and so on. They write great notes and chat with you on pickup to let you know what your child has been up to that day. We have now moved to the toddler room and although it is pretty wild in there, I've no doubt it will be immensely stimulating and fun for the children. Highly recommend.

We spoke to a few people and were recommended Bright Horizons Spitalfields, its just 5 mins from where we work and thought it worth a try. A real breath of fresh air, we walked in the staff were clearly lovely, and enjoy being there, the children all looked happy, content, well looked after, stimulated, chatty and curious. Being this is our first child this was a big step for us, and we haven't regretted it, we started on two half days a week, and have now gone full time. Our daughter loves it, enjoys her time and loves her key worker, enjoys the food (FYI no chocolates on site!) Some places I visited kept giving kids sugary and very carby food! which made them all hyper and then dull out). They have two lovely rabbits, the children learn about and interact with, and our daughter loves it, so she really enjoys her outside playtime. A gem in Spitalfields!

The nursery is very secured and safe. They follow strict safety drills during the day for babies who are asleep. Staff are very friendly, and treat each baby as an individual getting to know their weakness/strength.

I also find it great that child carers and the people in charge all listen to what you have to say, and take into consideration your opinion and work on it. This is very important.

The buggy area is very small but parents manage to fix them nevertheless and help each other, even staff will help if possible.

The only unfortunate thing is that I drop my baby at 1pm, and according to our schedule we miss lunch at the nursery and no exceptions can be made, but that's something a parent should work on I guess.

I would highly recommend this nursery mostly for the safety of the child and the friendliness of the staff.

My daughter has attended this nursery from age 8 months, for the past 2 years. She started in the baby room and will shortly progress to pre school.
She is extremely happy here. She does 3 full days a week. The staff are all very friendly and informative. The atmosphere is fantastic and inclusive.

My child is so happy when she goes to this nursery. They do a lot of activities with the children: taking them to the garden, gluing and colouring, playing in the sand and water trays. There is also time to just wander around and play in the baby gym or play kitchen or read some books. I get the very strong impression that the staff genuinely care for my child and have fun with her. My daughter's key person writes good notes about her activities, eating, nap times, etc. There has just been a change in her key person but it's someone she has known and so far it has gone smoothly. I have already recommended the nursery to a friend and her daughter is going there too. Sometimes it's a little chaotic at pickup time but that's probably normal. One criticism: not a lot of space for parking buggies! I'd recommend transporting your child in a sling or getting a compact buggy.
