Good parents app. Timely updates. Staff are friendly and engaging in the baby room. Good leadership from the manager and deputy manager. Key persons are helpful in creating a good learning environment and have at times created personalised learning and development plans.
I highly recommend the nursery which has a great safe outdoor space for kids to play; our son is very happy with the teachers who are caring and friendly! Also the staff has been the same so our son is with familiar faces since he joined!
Our daughter has been going to the nursery now for over one and a half years and she is absolutely loving it. Especially the garden is a plus for London and we value the various crafts they do with the children. One improvement would be the variety of food as it's very repetitive and carb-heavy.
My children attend this nursery, they seem very happy there. The staff are lovely, caring and fun. My children have improved speaking, listening, sharing and confidence since they started. I don't hesitate to raise my concerns if i have any which I know are taken seriously. The management of the nursery are excellent they know each child very well and have been very supportive in my childrens development. They also have a big garden which my chiidren enjoy. I highly recommend Micky star.
My son and daughter both went to Micky Star since they were 1 year old. They were and still are very happy to go to nursery every morning and most days they just go into the nursery forgetting to say goodbye to us. Food is very good. Staff genuinely know the children. The outdoor garden allows the children to spend a lot of time outside, particularly in the summer.
My son has been attending Micky Star since he turned 3. I believe he sees the staff and children kind of like an extended family and that's why we continue to be content and happy leaving him there each day. He is always really keen to get to nursery and play with his classmates and really enjoys all the activities prepared by the staff.
The rooms are spacious. The sleeping room for babies and a separate room for meals are really valuable.
The large outdoor is also extremely valuable!
The teachers are nice and very welcoming with both children and parents.
However, as a parent, I feel there is some area of improvement. Most of the time, I pick up my daughter very dirty because they paint, they play with sand, they enjoy the garden, obviously, babies are messy but I would expect the children to wear aprons when they paint, for example, or make sure they don’t go outside when the playground is wet and muddy! It’s frustrating to pick up your child with stains all over the clothes - stains that most of the time remains after the wash.
I also noticed an important turnover in terms of teachers those days. People are leaving without notice.
Because nurseries are very expensive in London, I do have very high expectations.
I would also appreciate an opening hour extending to 7pm.
My son has been very happy there for 3 years and particularly enjoys the garden area.
Activities are interesting and varied and often messy which is great.
My daughter is having so much fun here.
Outdoor space is huge, even though the nursery location is in the city where space is a premium.
The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Food is halal. I don’t need to worry, especially as I am very particular about this.
This is a fantastic nursery, which my son has been attending since he was 7 months. He loves the open garden space this nursery has to offer. They do lots of great educational projects with the children, helping the children expand on their vocabulary and overall understanding of the world. Also, the staff are all very friendly and make me, as a mother, feel very happy to leave my child in their care. They give detailed feedback at the end of each day. You can really see that the staff are very caring, as they always have lots of wonderful things to say about the children. I would recommend this nursery to all parents.
We are very happy with the staff and the nursery premises. The outdoor space is a great bonus! We are extremely happy with her keyworker! The food is varied from meat, veg, fish! She comes home with different words, musical songs, dances that she has learnt during the day. Excellent overall.
This nursery is truly amazing. The facilities are great: over 3 floors with daylight and with a huge garden where there is a trampoline and little cars. It is well run by the manager. All the people working there are extremely friendly, loving and accommodating e.g. they are understanding when you arrive late. The food is cooked on site and they really help with weaning and they are respectful of food allergies. My care person did an extremely good job with my eldest and takes the best of care of my youngest. They really helped my youngest to crawl and he is now cruising. With my eldest, they really encouraged his development of language and potty trained him. I am really impressed by the observation folder they keep on each child. When I do the drop-off, the rooms look so much fun, with little toy stations laid out across the room (E.g. sand, animals or tunnels). It is a bit far from my place but for me, it is totally worth walking for 20 min every day.
Extremely happy with Micky Star. My now 13 month old started almost three months ago. Within a couple of weeks, she loved it and was waving me out of the door. She’s excited when we get there which says it all. They seem to do a lot of sensory play and the staff make a real effort to connect with the children. The outside space is amazing and means the children get a lot of fresh air every day which is rare for a nursery so central. I looked at a number of nurseries before deciding and although Micky Star may not be the most modern, it had in my opinion the most homely feel, fresh food made on site, a separate sleep room and outside space which few did. Now my daughter’s been there a while I’m also very impressed with the friendly, home like atmosphere. Very happy with my decision.
The staff are welcoming and have such tenderness and caring when dealing with both children and parents. My daughter has really become very independent since attending the setting. At drop off, she kisses me goodbye and skips through the nursery classroom door and doesn’t look back.
The learning is open-ended and children are free to explore their curiosity, my child’s interest were taken into account for her individual learning, which I believe has propelled her to be such a curious and inquisitive being.
This is a wonderful nursery, with staff who honestly are caring, loving and supportive to the children and even parents who attend.
This nursery is in a very good area. Great garden and play area for kids. I had my ups and downs with this nursery, though certain staff are reasons why I kept my daughter here. Key worker made her experience better and me, more relaxed and sure of my daughter's safety.
The staff is friendly and like one parent said in another review, they seem to know all the children, even if they don't take care of them directly.
My daughter took a bit of time to adapt herself to the new environment and in my view, the staff helped her all along the way. She has since moved to another room, and the new key person seems to be very nice as well.
I love how they invite the parents to enjoy with their children some of the activities organised by the nursery, i.e, last Friday they had a Royal Wedding party, and all the kids were adorably dressed as princes and princesses.
The only criticism I can make is related to the food. They give them very often couscous and breadsticks which in my view don't have much of a nutritional value. Also sometimes they serve the kids the same protein twice in a row.
It didn't take long for my son to settle into the baby room and now he loves going to nursery. He gets excited on the way in and he gets to do activities we don't do at home. He is extremely sociable, happy meeting new children and adults, eats a varied diet and seems to really benefit from going to Micky Star Community Nursery. I am very happy with the nursery. the staff are kind and take an individual approach.
I do not have feedback from him but he does want to stay longer at the nursery every day when I go to pick him up.
There is a close relationship with the key person who tries to meet the needs of my child and all the staff are kind and friendly.
Apart from the friendly environment, the outdoors area is the real asset for this nursery in the middle of Paddington.
I recommend this nursery.
My daughter has been happy at Micky Star for the past year, first in the babies’ room and now on the second year room. She enjoys it, has an ample range of activities and is well taken care of by the staff.
Quality of briefings and child knowledge depends on staff. Use of technology and communications could be improved as it would facilitate managing childcare in the modern world. More regular formal briefings scheduled with appropriate time would make parents feel more involved.

Hello, my name is Beverley and I've been the manager of Micky Star since 2009 and have worked for LEYF since 1995.
Our family-friendly nursery is warm and welcoming, and a real part of the local community. Parents particularly like how we celebrate current events and include the whole family. We have lovely large and spacious rooms, and a fabulous outdoor space, which includes a new covered learning area.
