LEYF - Gumboots Nursery & Pre-School

Our daughter has just left for school (having joined age 1) from LEYF Gumboots and we can't speak more highly of the care she has received and the passion and creativity of the staff. We also love the fact that little improvements and innovations are always being made. Also highly rate the communications and leadership from management and the LEYF network. Great wholesome food too! We would really highly recommend it!

We have had a brilliant experience with Gumboots since joining in January 2025. The staff make the effort to really get to know both the children and their families, and provide fantastic support to the children's learning and development. We are very appreciative of the team at Gumboots, and we are confident in the high-quality care our child receives.

Our daughter has been attending Gumboots since she was 9 months old, she loves the staff and the nursery and we do too! The space and set up of the rooms is perfect for the children, the staff are loving and attentive , and the food is great too!

My daughter has been at Gumboots for over a year -- I've got nothing but good things to say about it. The staff are so so kind and nice, and also seem to be excellent at helping her learn and develop. I feel that we've had great comms with the team, all questions answered and doubts resolved. Our daughter is delighted to arrive each morning -- skips in, gives her teacher a hug and sits down for breakfast or gets stuck in to play.

Our youngest son has just finished at Gumboots (to move to be with his big brother elsewhere) but it was such a wrench to leave. He has moved through the first three classrooms and all have been filled with so much love, care and fun. We really felt that he made meaningful bonds with his teachers (most recently Aisha and Harry who he adores) and the constant stream of hilarious and heartwarming photos are an absolute treat. A brilliant well-run nursery full of wonderful staff. Oh and a mention for the chef (who's name I shamelessly cannot recall) who is brilliant and takes such care and pride to make sure the little ones are eating good food.

We are very happy with the nursery. Our son has developed so much since starting, especially his speech, communication and confidence. The staff are lovely, caring and supportive, and we can really see how much he enjoys going. We're very pleased with his progress!

The nursery has a welcoming atmosphere. The staff is always warm, welcoming and supportive. The toddlers do many activities throughout the day and spend a lot of time outside. They organise a sports day, mother's day tea, father's day barbecue, Christmas concerts... all lovely gestures to get people together and get the kids practising singing, physical coordination, etc. Overall, it is a lovely nursery.

We are very happy with the nursery. The staff are warm, caring and attentive, and our child is always happy to go in. We really appreciate the supportive and nurturing environment and would highly recommend the nursery to other parents.

Gumboots nursery is a wonderful place for our child, the setting, management team and especially room staff are fantastic and we have really watched our child thrive under their care. Thank you Gumboots!

Truly an excellent nursery and pre-school. Warm, friendly and confident staff who know how to keep little ones happy, healthy and safe. Every day is fun with plenty of learning disguised as fun :) Couldn't recommend them highly enough!

Our daughter has been attending Gumboots since she was 10 months old and the staff were fantastic at helping her (and us) get settled into the new routine, and now she is about to move up to the toddler room and LOVES it. She gets so excited to go in the mornings and the staff are all fantastic and caring - she's formed a real attachment to her key worker but is equally happy being cared for by all the staff in her room. We've noticed huge leaps in her development since going to nursery: her walking, communication, makaton, eating (the food is varied every day and always home cooked), exploring new environments, playing outside, messy play, sharing toys, and learning so many new skills. We love how it has such a homely community feel and there's parent events (Father's Day BBQ being a recent one) which is a nice added touch. Gumboots is a fantastic nursery and we are so happy our little girl is thriving there. Thank you to all the staff.

My son has been attending Gumboots nursery since he was 6 months old, of which he is now nearly 2. The staff are extremely attentive and have taken amazing care of him. They are constantly making improvement to better the wellbeing and learning of the children, they spend alot of time out in the garden and also little trips. Thank you gumboots and especially Room leader Leah! X

We've been at Gumboots since my son was in the baby room. He's now in Preschool and we could not be happier with the level of care and attention to detail the staff at Gumboots have provided. They have cared for my son so well in-fact, I have applied for my daughter to attend Gumboots also. They have really helped my son shape his personality and really taken extra care to help him with his big range of emotions. He is able to express his thoughts and feelings so much better than I thought possible for a 3 year old! From baby room, to toddler room and now into preschool, he's had careful, considered care, that is not lost on myself or my husband. I have no doubt without the loving and caring characters in Kai, Leah, Grace, Elizabeth, Harry, Donte, Inay, Doris, Chevara, Blessing and Bianca (there has been so many great teachers and carers) my son would not be as confident and happy as he is day to day. He loves Gumboots and so do we. Thank you everyone for your hard work.

The staff have made my children so welcoming, including my older child who doesn't even attend Gumboots! I know that my son is receiving excellent care. The main reason I'm glad I chose Gumboots is the variety of activities offered each week and the trips that the children are taken on. Everything is of a high quality and carried out with care and attention. Thank you!

Isha, Harry, Joy and the wider team at Gumboots have made my twin girls' settling in period seamless! I feel confident leaving them in such calm, capable and caring hands. They are fully entertained and stimulated throughout the day and eat amazing home cooked food. Very happy we decided on Gumboots!

Our toddler is very happy at Gumboots. I feel he receives real love and care - the most important thing at his age! The staff are so friendly, the food varied and nutritious. I feel a real comfort that he is well looked after and happy at nursery - so I am very grateful to the team.

Gumboots is a very caring and professional nursery. The staff are attentive and switched on and the facilities are extensive and well-maintained. Our daughter loves going into nursery and we have definitely noticed a developmental jump since she started. We also really value the community feeling that they try to foster. Good job!

What we appreciate most is how dedicated the team has been in helping our little one settle in, who is not all that easy to settle! Their patience and commitment have been admirable. We really feel like we're leaving our child in safe, caring hands.

I now have my second daughter at Gumboots and couldn't be happier! We all feel so well supported and I feel super confident she is having a great time with the team there. Huge thanks to Leah and Mia especially who she absolutely loves! I would highly recommend and we feel very lucky to have a place here.

I've left writing this review for some time, and have since had other nurseries experienced by my daughter to compare it against. In many ways, this is a good nursery with good facilities and staff that care. However, it really suffered to an extreme level of relying on temp staff and failure to retain permanent staff. There were lots of great staff that chose not to stay. Under different conditions, maybe they would have. I think the latest Ofsted report covers it pretty well. We had bad experiences like when our daughter was moved without warning into a class group months before she should have, and the general chaos during that time led to some very unwelcome situations and upsets to deal with. We have since tried other nurseries where their good management really shows. This nursery would have been exceptional with similar levels of good management.
