A wonderful nursery where my nieces feel safe and secure. The staff are caring and kind not only to the children but to the parents. It is a clean and tidy environment for the children. The manager is great and really helpful as are all the staff. My nieces love going which is the most important thing.
I would highly recommend taking a child here.

My niece attends this nursery, and as I often drop her off in the morning, I see how happy, positive and excited she is to go - I barely get a wave goodbye most days! The staff are so friendly and approachable and really do take the time and effort to get to know each child and their families. Thank
you to the manager and her team, you do an amazing job.

I have had two grandchildren at this nursery, and they have been looked after with the utmost care and affection. The staff are always welcoming, happy and professional, and the manager is a real gem. I would recommend this nursery to anyone wanting the best care for their little ones.

Crystal Day Nursery is a lovely nursery. The staff were extremely attentive and caring towards our daughter. They were also very diligent in dealing with the Coronavirus situation which reflects well on the nursery. We have to give a special mention to one practitioner who was very impressive. She
showed a lot of compassion and interest towards our daughter and couldn't be more suited to her role at the nursery. She is an ideal carer for anyone's child. The other staff were also brilliant. Thank you Crystal Day.

Great staff and remarkable child care. I have two children attending and they love it. The older is now leaving for reception and I am confident that the work done by the nursery staff would help him to settle in. We received lots of support to deal with behaviour, age transition, learning and development
challenges. The smile on my son’s face every morning on his way to see the children and the nursery staff was enough for me to trust and know that he was in the right place. He is gone now, but still have a little one with a long journey ahead to enjoy and learn; I am confident he will also have an amazing experience. Crystal Day Nursery is the right childcare if you are looking for children to received the same care and love the got at home.

Our daughter has been attending Crystal Day Nursery for two and a half years. We have been so happy with the staff and homely atmosphere at the nursery. The nursery is spilt into rooms according to age, we appreciated this as it gave the younger ones attentive care in smaller groups, and helped the
children form bonds with their age group.
The terrace house environment is comforting and feels like a home. The garden has recently had a lovely re-fit, it seems that the kids spend as much time out there as possible. A new company has taken over in the last year and it feels like they provide a professional approach to matters such as opening up after lock-down.
The best thing about the nursery is definitely the staff. They are approachable, warm and caring to the kids, exactly who you feel comfortable leaving your children with.

I love the place, my son loves it too. The staff are very caring and friendly. The place is nice and tidy, even with kids being there. When I used to pick up my son, I had to beg him to come home. Isn't that the best review you can ever have?

My son looks forward to going to nursery and comes home with lots to talk about.

Our son loves the nursery and his friends. He has enjoyed being with and bonded well with each of the key workers he’s been assigned to over the years he’s been there. As he starts school in September, it’s quite sad to think he won’t be going there for much longer - such a comfortable, homely, fun
place to be. The core staff are excellent, approachable, fun and relaxed. It's being in a house, on a residential road, that gives it a lovely home from home feel. Lovely outdoor space and they make the most of the space they have very well, with further improvements planned, I believe. New owners took over earlier in the year with an excellent track record, and they seem to be doing a great job to build, support and improve on what is already a very nice nursery, and I’ve always felt happy he was there. We will miss it!

After our eldest child spent three happy years at the nursery from 2016 to 2019, we had no hesitation in sending our youngest daughter to Crystal Day Nursery in July 2020. One of the best aspects of this nursery is that the staff genuinely care about the welfare and development of the children from
babies until the time they are ready for school. The management team is always interested in hearing and accepting feedback about how they can improve the service they offer to children at the nursery.
In addition, the nursery facilities have also improved over time with the redevelopment of the outdoor area at the back a couple of years ago meaning there's a great space for the children to play and learn outside.
Overall, I would recommend this nursery for parents looking for a decent option of childcare in the area.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.112)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.112) out of 10 for Penge East Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.598 for Penge East Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (55 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 82 Ratings = 4.598
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.514 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Penge East Day Nursery is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 number of registered child places is 8.6. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.814
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

I have been working within the childcare industry for 17 years since I was just 18 years old. I joined Penge East Day Nursery in March 2021 after returning from my previous job in Abu Dhabi, where I worked for 4 years as a Nursery Teacher. I am currently studying a Level 5 Foundation Degree in Leadership in Childcare. We at Penge East have such a lovely team and I adore watching the babies develop into kind, confident and happy children before their big transition to primary school.
