Our eldest daughter has been at the nursery since she was 13 months old (now 3.5) and our youngest joined a couple of months ago.
We have always been very happy with level of care and nurturing environment created by the friendly staff at the nursery.
Both our children are happy and content and have
formed great relationships with their allocated key people, which makes it easier leaving them each day.

My son enjoys going to nursery knowing that his days will be fun filled packed with activities. The staff have been extremely brilliant and most importantly I know he is always in good hands. They are extremely flexible with his schedule as well which is a major plus and constantly giving us advice
onhis wellbeing. Location and facility wise is top notch.

Our son has been attending City Child Nursery for almost one year, starting when he two years old. He has suffered developmental delays, had severe glue ear (which has delayed his speech) and is hyper mobile, all of which made us very anxious about sending him to nursery in the first place. However,
since day one, the staff at City Child have helped him more than we could have hoped for. His development has accelerated to the point that he has almost caught up to the other children and he is content and happy in the bright, safe and clean environment of the nursery. Despite it's central location, the nursery has a larger outside space than others we visited and he loves it. The staff have only ever been helpful, courteous and accommodating when we have asked for help making changes to his schedule and so forth. We couldn't ask for more from the nursery and fully recommend them.

Our son has been attending City Child Nursery for 8 months now. Since he has started we have been amazed by his development both mentally and physically.
The staff are super friendly and really attentive to his needs. They have worked with us to put a development programme in place and they monitor
his progress, which is reported on in his personal development book. At the end of each day we get a written report on what activities our child has participated in and what he has eaten, which really puts our mind at ease that they are really looking after him.
One of the reasons that we chose this nursery is the convenience for both my husband and I in relation to getting to work, and it's also open from 7:30 until 18:30.
Outdoor space was also important to us and they have the most fantastic play area. You wouldn't expect it being tucked away in the city.
We are really happy with our choice of nursery and seeing our son so confident and happy means the world to us.

There are a lot of positive things I could say about City Child Nursery, but in the end it comes down to the fact that my daughter is (and has always been) extremely happy to be there - that's enough for me!

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.499)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.499) out of 10 for Bright Horizons City Child Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.958 for Bright Horizons City Child Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (92 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.958
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.541 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons City Child Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 number of registered child places is 10.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.8 = 0.741
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2010

Hi, My name is Abby and I am a level 3 Nursery Practitioner I have achieved a level 2 and Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education I have been with Bright Horizons since 2017. I was based at Heron Quays Bright Horizons as a Room Leader where I took the opportunity to progress in the role of a Third in charge in 2019.

I've supported Heron Quays on its journey to achieve a good Ofsted rating after many years of hard work. I have worked with children of ages 0-5 years but have had the opportunity to learn and develop my skills within the nurseries I have worked in by spending time in each of the rooms supporting my staff team.

I was asked to come over to Tabard Square to support them and this was also a part of my professional development. During my time at the nursery, I grew fond of the team and children and was able to help implement new changes and support the quality of teaching and learning with the team. The opportunity arises for a Deputy Manager over in Tabard Square. I took the opportunity to apply for this position. This has been something that I was working towards and knew it was the right time for me.

I now have had the opportunity to further my career with bright horizons by progressing to the Nursery Manager at City Child, I look forward to my new journey, being able to share my knowledge and role model practices with a new team. I also look forward to creating a new partnership with the families and children at city child.
