The Anchor Day Nursery & Pre-School

We were nervous about transferring our daughter at the age of 3.4years, but we shouldn't have worried a bit. At the previous setting there were lots of tears, but she was so happy to be dropped off at the Anchor and grinning from ear to ear at pick up on a daily basis.
The smaller, rural setting adds
a calm environment and the staff cover so much of the curriculum on a weekly basis, focusing on interesting and relevant topics, while there is still a balance of fun and games.
Our youngest daughter started at 9 months old and fitted in from the minute she was enrolled. They both love the staff and we have always had easy contact with the nursery. There is such a sense of caring for all the children, yet a good balance of following rules. They were more than willing to help in preparing my daughters EHCP and have always welcomed her back to holiday club with open arms, despite her additional care needs. Nothing fazes the staff, who go above and beyond to make children happy!

Both of my children love coming here, so much so that my daughter comes back for holiday club now she's started school. All the staff are very supportive and helpful, the location is great with the woodlands for them to explore, the meals are well balanced and the activities are engaging and educational.

We moved areas and my daughter started at the nursery in June 2024 at age 3. I was so nervous to move her but I needn't have worried. The staff have been absolutely amazing at getting her settled and I'm always so blown away with the imaginative creative activities they get up to. My daughter's key
worker is totally brilliant at bringing out the best in her (and embracing her fancy dress loving ways). They do dancing, singing, yoga, crafting, story writing, nature walks, the list is endless. Whenever I go to collect my daughter, I peer in through the window and she's so happy and engaged in playing. The manager is always quick to respond and helps with any of my questions. We're very grateful to The Anchor!

My daughter has been going here since she was 6 months old (now 2) and absolutely loves it, so much so that when we come to pick her up she doesn't want to come home.
We love seeing all of the things she's gets up to during the week on the app. The amount of creative play and learning the staff do
with the kids is unbelievable, with different themes each week. Our daughters progression, particularly in her speech and social skills we think are as a direct result of her going here.
The manager and the team are so responsive and really help put you at ease. They're very engaged and really work with you to ensure your child's getting the best care and has consistency across the home and nursery.

Feel really sad leaving this nursery, my son absolutely thrived there. He started at 7 months and they were great when he was so little. He is now a walking toddler who strolls right in and loves to see all of his friends and favourite nursery workers. They have a great relationship with my child which
is seen when he gets there and is happy to see them. Really lovely setting and lovely people run this nursery.

My daughter enjoyed 10 months at the Anchor Nursery before joining Pre-school. The setting and staff are lovely and always very welcoming. My daughter always had lots to say at the end of the day about what she had been doing/learning. I am very pleased how well she developed whilst at The Anchor, especially
with her confidence and eating.

As I am quite familiar with nurseries I had very high expectations. My son has attended The Anchor Day Nursery & Preschool since he was 4 months old. The staff have always looked after him and made him feel loved and special. Every time I talked to a member of the team, they were giving generous feedback
and seemed very open to discussions. I've never felt judged. Be assured your child will thrive in a secure, comforting and exciting environment. Everything feels very tailored and appropriate to the needs of every single child present in the nursery. This setting is by far one of the best I have ever seen!

Our daughter started at The Anchor in May 2021 (15 months old at the time). We cannot believe how quickly she settled, especially as her social contact had been limited, due to covid. Without a doubt, this was due to the staff being so kind, warm, welcoming and caring towards her. She continues to be
so happy at nursery and loves going in. The staff are passionate about the children and this is reflected in our daughter's happiness there. We would highly recommend the nursery, it’s a beautiful setting and its smaller size gives it a personal touch.

Our little boy has been at The Anchor for 3 months. In this time his communication and language skills have come on in leaps. He’s settled in quicker than I initially thought that he would and I can see how safe and relaxed he feels with the staff. They provide a great diverse range of food and activities.
The facilities are lovely and have a real home from home feel. As far as value for money, it’s one of the most competitive in the area. The staff have been really welcoming and reassuring and have been very flexible with easing into a schedule and very accommodating of our cloth nappies. I would recommend viewing the Anchor if you are looking for a nursery in the area.

I would highly recommend this Nursery to parents! The staff are friendly, approachable and extremely lovely people. Overall atmosphere and quality of the nursery is amazing. Such a range of things for the children to do, inside and out. I was so worried about how my child would settle in, but the staff
gave me complete confidence that he would be 100% fine and he was. My child settled in quickly and happily. He loves going into Nursery, he doesn’t even give a second look back at me when leaving, he gets stuck straight in with everyone there. That’s how comfortable and confident he has become!

After having so many struggles with a previous nursery, coming here has been brilliant. The manager and all her staff really put my mind at rest that my child would be cared for and looked after while in this setting. Communication has always been great, very clear and quick to respond, which I've found
important. My child has enjoyed going here and often talks about what he's done during the day. Also, on days he's not due to go, he asks if he can go there. So obviously they're doing something right! Since starting here my child's development has come on in leaps and bounds and I can't thank them all enough for the impact they've had on him. They've really made a difference in his life and certainly helped form the base for learning when he eventually goes to school. I wish we didn't have to leave and I can only hope his next setting is as good as here. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for an amazing nursery for their little ones.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough! My little boy absolutely loves it here. He struggles with additional needs, and all staff go above and beyond to settle him and include him in every activity, but keeping a beautiful level of discipline at the same time, which he needs. Highly recommend!

This is such a wonderful nursery. My daughter absolutely loves it and couldn’t wait to go each week. I felt completely confident she was well looked after, and there was a lot of input/great activities each day. The staff are all amazing and lovely and friendly. The communication is excellent, and I
really feel my daughter has come along well from being here. The setting is gorgeous out in the country - couldn’t ask for anything more!

We have 2 children at Flying Start full time - aged 2.5 and 4 (attended since 12 months old). They are both been well supported in their development and, most importantly, both love nursery, running in each day and greeting the manager or one of the other staff. They have made good friendships and get
to spend time with each other as well as separately making friends with peers.
Nursery are supportive of our childs' speech delay and have implemented various activities into his daily routine to support his speech development. They work well with us when potty training and developing other learning. Staff are always happy to talk at pick up or drop off.
They have good outdoor space which is suitable for all-weather and they do organised sports once a week. We provide a packed lunch and a dinner to be warmed up which I really appreciate as I know exactly what they are eating and how much and it means we don't get fussiness when I cook at home!

A Flying Start Nursery went above and beyond to help my shy boy settle in. It was the first place he had been left without friends or family. But the staff helped him feel safe and secure so he really enjoyed going. It was lovely to see him learn new skills that will be with him for the rest of his
life. Really appreciate everything they have done - would definitely recommend.

This is an amazing nursery and I would not send my son elsewhere - everyone who knows him has commented on how far he has come since attending. My son has additional needs, dietary requirements and is medicated, and the nursery are very accommodating with this. All the staff are brilliant, my only complaint
is that I can't bring the staff home with me when I pick my son up!

He comes out with new things every day and I am kept well informed of his progress. I looked at several nurseries and childminders before visiting A Flying Start and as soon as I walked around, I couldn't wait to enrol him. I am trying to convince my other half to have another baby just so I can send them here! It has never felt like I am paying for a service, it just literally feels like my son's extended family.
