Children at Dunkys Day Nursery & Forest School at Gulliver's World in Warrington are embracing nature this month by taking part in The Wildlife Trusts’ 30 Days Wild Challenge. The Challenge, the UK’s biggest nature challenge, is a free nationwide initiative encouraging people to connect with wildlife every day for a whole month. Nursery Manager Lauren Bailey said: “Throughout the challenge, our children have been enjoying a range of exciting outdoor activities within our Forest School environment. “They have been developing their listening skills by identifying and learning about the different bird calls that can be heard throughout the forest, helping them gain a greater understanding of the wildlife that shares their outdoor space. “As part of their commitment to supporting local wildlife, the children have also been planting wildflower seeds to create habitats that will attract and support bumblebees, butterflies and other important pollinators. These hands-on experiences are helping them learn about the vital role insects play in our ecosystems. “Our young nature enthusiasts have also worked together to create a bug hotel, providing a safe and welcoming home for the forest's minibeasts. Through this project, the children have discovered the importance of insects and the habitats they need to thrive. “The 30 Days Wild Challenge has already inspired curiosity, creativity and a deeper appreciation of nature among the children. With many more exciting activities still to come, everyone at Dunky’s Day Nursery & Forest School is looking forward to continuing their wildlife adventures throughout the month. “The children are especially excited to complete the challenge and hope to receive their official 30 Days Wild certificate at the end of the 30 days, celebrating all they have achieved while connecting with and caring for the natural world around them.” Dunky’s Forest School & Nursery at Gulliver’s World is in the Westbrook area of Warrington and occupies a vast amount of woodland in the grounds. The Nursery will celebrate it’s second anniversary in September.
