WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - WEEK COMMENCING 18TH MAY 2026

Clever Cats & Clever Kittens This week for circle time in the Preschool Room we have been using our friendship ring to encourage ALL children to the carpet and follow instructions together.

Next week in Preschool, we will be focusing on the story of Elmer and exploring themes around diversity, similarities and differences. The children will be encouraged to talk about what makes them unique and celebrate the differences that make everyone special, just like Elmer. As part of our activities, the children will be practising repeating patterns and weaving using a variety of colourful materials, helping to develop their mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills while linking to Elmer’s bright patchwork colours. The children will also be developing their fine motor and cutting skills by carefully cutting out rectangles to create their very own Elmer pictures. Ladybirds Next week the Ladybirds are celebrating Elmer, the colourful patchwork elephant! Throughout the week the children will enjoy exciting stories all about friendship, kindness and feelings. We are also going to be creating our own patchwork elephant using colourful tissue paper while celebrating what makes each of us special and unique. Get ready for a bright and joyful week full of learning and fun!

Butterflies Next week the Butterflies will be celebrating Elmer week. The children will enjoy lots of colourful activities inspired by Elmer the Elephant, including sensory play, painting, story time and music. We will be exploring colours, patterns and friendship through fun and engaging experiences.
