WHAT WE ARE LEARNING - WEEK COMMENCING 20TH APRIL 2026

Next week we will be -

Clever Cats and Clever Kittens Next week we will be focusing on St. George’s Day and Earth Day. Whilst we are on our daily mile we will be having a look around the environment for people who help us in and around the environment such as bin men, police, construction workers etc. We will be learning a new poem about boundaries and we will be creating some dragons out of different coloured playdough amongst lots of other exciting activities! Our song of the week is ‘There Was A Princess Long Ago’ and our book of the week is ‘George And The Dragon’.

Ladybirds Next week the Ladybirds will be looking at Earth Day! We will be exploring in some fake mud made from cocoa powder, flour and water while also going on a walk to the Strand Gardens, finding some mud and leaves in the way and talking about them! The children will then be able to explore with blue and green paint to make our own Earths, using foam stamps to add and see different textures. On the playdough table we will be exploring with green and blue playdough, developing our fine motor skills by poking and pulling the playdough! 

Butterflies This Earth Day, our babies will be exploring the natural world through simple, hands-on experiences tailored to their stage of development. Through exciting sensory play, interactive exploration, early communication and more active, purposeful activities, each experience will support their growing curiosity about the world around them. Using natural materials such as leaves, water, soil and flowers, the children will have opportunities to explore, move, communicate and discover through play. These experiences will help build important skills while also encouraging a love and respect for the environment from an early age. We look forward to celebrating Earth Day by learning, playing and caring for our world together ??
