Children from Dunky’s Forest School & Nursery at Gulliver’s World in Warrington were treated to a visit from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service. As well as being able to sit on the fire engine, they learnt about the equipment they use and the importance of the special uniform. Nursery Manager Lauren Bailey said: The firefighters arrived in their fire engine, capturing the children’s excitement from the moment they pulled in. The visit provided a valuable opportunity for them to learn about the important role firefighters play in keeping our community safe. “Throughout the session, the children eagerly asked questions about the different jobs firefighters do and the wide range of emergencies they respond to, from fires and road accidents to rescue situations. “The firefighters shared their experiences in an engaging and age-appropriate way, helping to build awareness and understanding of their vital work. “One of the highlights of the visit was the chance for the children to sit inside the fire engine. The firefighters also demonstrated the different helmets, uniforms, and specialist equipment they use for various emergency situations, explaining how each item helps keep them safe while they help others. “As the visit came to an end, the excitement continued as the firefighters switched on the engine’s lights and sirens, giving them a memorable send-off. “Visits like these support our nursery’s commitment to hands-on learning and real-world experiences, giving children a memorable insight into community roles and safety.”
