Prospect House School Nursery

Prospect House welcomes children from the age of three, providing a nurturing environment that supports a positive start to their educational journey. Set within a spacious period property on Putney Hill in south-west London, the nursery offers a warm, home-from-home atmosphere where children feel comfortable, confident and ready to learn.

The learning spaces are carefully organised into different activity areas, allowing children to explore their interests and make independent choices throughout the day. Both the indoor classrooms and the dedicated outdoor areas, including an early years playground and Forest School, encourage curiosity, creativity and hands-on learning. Experienced practitioners work closely with each child, supporting their individual strengths and helping them develop at their own pace.

Mornings are focused on core academic learning, while afternoons provide opportunities to build on new knowledge through projects and practical activities. A flexible weekly timetable balances child-led exploration with structured teaching, introducing subjects such as phonics, handwriting, mathematics and science. Children also enjoy specialist lessons in music, drama, sport and French, with termly topics linking learning across the curriculum. Teaching draws inspiration from Montessori, Curiosity Approach and Reggio Emilia principles, while outdoor experiences, natural resources and sustainable practices play an important role in everyday learning.

In 2025, the team at Prospect House was recognised as a Bronze Winner for Early Years Team of the Year by the Pearson National Teaching Awards. Read less
