Nursery at The Cathedral School, Llandaff offers a welcoming and inspiring start to school life, where children are encouraged to explore, investigate and delight in their learning.

Every child is treated as an individual. The Nursery team take time to get to know each child, developing an understanding of their interests, personalities and needs so that families feel supported from the very beginning.

The Nursery is led by highly qualified teachers and early years specialists who create an enriched, experiential learning journey that lays strong foundations for each child’s future. From developing early reading skills to creating magical potions in Forest School, children are offered endless opportunities to wonder, discover and thrive.

Set within the beautiful and secure school grounds in the heart of Llandaff, the Nursery benefits from purpose-built, well-equipped indoor and outdoor spaces designed for curious young learners. Facilities include a spacious activity room, a dedicated quiet room for calm moments, and a wet-play space for hands-on discovery. Outside, children enjoy a large play area, including a covered section that allows for outdoor learning in all seasons.

Music, dance and sport are woven into each week, ensuring a rich and varied start to your child’s education.

Children may join Nursery from the term in which they turn three, subject to availability, and are automatically allocated a Reception place for the September following their fourth birthday.

I have found the both the pastoral care in nursery and the opportunities for learning excellent. There is a fantastic energy from the staff and always a great buzz.
The children have access to outdoor play at all times, some of which is covered. This was an important factor in our choice of nursery.
The children are exposed to a wide variety of choice in what they can play with, and the activites that help prepare them for learning are fun and engaging.
We couldn't be happier with our child's experience here.

My son had a great experience at this nursery and loved every day of it. He loved the teachers and developed and learnt a lot during the year. There is good discipline in a fair and beneficial way. They inspire the children to learn through play. It prepared him for reception very well and the transition
was smooth. I think the space is thoughtfully set up with little learning areas indoors and outdoors. There's not a lot of greenery in the outdoor space, but they do have access to a forest school on the grounds. The food is good in the sense that you get to choose between several options and my child liked it and never went hungry, but there is no option to send a packed lunch.

We have been overwhelmed by the excellence of The Cathedral School, Llandaff. Staff are enthusiastic, kind, innovative and genuine. The care and attention they put into each and every child cannot be missed. I really feel as though they have got to know our children and go above and beyond to help them
develop and foster a love for learning. The facilities are excellent, with wonderfully diverse extra curricular provision (even in the nursery!), and clear and comprehensive communication. We are thankful for all you do - thank you.
