Bright Starts Thornliebank is located in the Spiersbridge Business park and provides childcare for 103 children aged from 6 weeks to 5 years of age.

The nursery comprises of two floor levels including a modern kitchen where the chef will cook nutritious homemade food for all the children catering to individual preferences/ food tolerances and allergies. The menu is rotated on a 3 weekly cycle and is alternated twice yearly to ensure a change of season is considered.

The team have engaged in the development of the environment with implementation of open ended resources which foster children's curiosity and learning whilst further enhancing their development.

The nursery is led by a passionate, skilled and motivated team, who engage in regular training opportunities to further improve their knowledge and understanding for Early Years Frameworks. Their approach to learning takes account of the individual needs of each child, offering a variety of learning experiences, indoor and out, every day, to encourage the child's natural curiosity and adventure.

The outdoor environment further compliments the indoor environment through the use of natural open ended resources to stimulate the children's natural curiosity and awe and wander of the world through enriched learning experiences.

The staff in the Baby Room are amazing, our wee man is a total barnacle baby and we were worried about his transition into nursery. Turns out we had nothing to worry about, he loves going in and he treats the staff like his aunties.


The environment is clean and fresh, the activities planned by the

staff are great for development and the food served is healthy and varied.

My boy has been attending the nursery for almost 3 months now. He was quite difficult to settle but although he was crying a lot at the beginning, at the same time he was very positive when talking about school and the teachers back home.
The ladies are absolutely amazing, with lots of patience and
caring approach!
The manager as well. The space is completely new, very clean, beautiful and warm on the cold days of the winter!

The first month of our son attending Bright Starts Nursery has gone amazingly smoothly. He can be a little clingy and the staff have done a fantastic job at helping him settle.
The staff are always so caring and lovely with him and are always keen to share about his day. They always do their best
to make him feel happy and are always keeping us informed of any changes in his usual behaviours.
The environment is wonderful with everything brand new, resources are relevant to his age and open ended.
There are opportunities to engage in many types of play and updates are made by staff regarding which play scheme etc.
The manager is very approachable and is hands on with the children and creates a very calm, nurturing feel. Any enquiries or questions are addressed usually with the day.
We have found the last four weeks to be very satisfying and after having a bad experience with our previous childcare, we have found Bright Starts to have been the right choice for us.

I wanted to share how impressed I am with how well my daughter has settled into the nursery. The staff have been incredibly friendly, welcoming and informative, which has made the whole experience so positive. As a mother, it brings me so much comfort and happiness knowing that my daughter is starting
her day at nursery with excitement and leaving with a smile while waving goodbye.

This nursery is absolutely fantastic and my son loves it so much! The staff are caring and attentive and the environment is warm, welcoming and nurturing. Lovely nursery, staff are all great, very approachable, very knowledgeable about my son, lovely room, clean and tidy, great food selection, would 100% recommend to anyone.
My little boy seems very happy and contented when I collect him, I love the daily updates on the app and the photos too.

Michelle Rose

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2025

Michelle Rose is a dedicated early years professional with over two decades of experience. She began her career at the age of 16, driven by a passion for working with children that has continued to grow throughout the years.


She has worked in a variety of settings, holding roles ranging from managerial to area manager, and has also gained valuable experience in residential childcare. Michelle earned her first childcare qualification in 2004 and holds an SVQ Level 2 in Early Years Care and Education, an HNC in Childcare and Education, and an SVQ Level 4 in Social Services
(Children and Young People). She is currently working towards her BA in Childhood Practice, which she will complete next year.
