Little Robins Nursery is a warm and welcoming Nursery providing high-quality care and delivering outstanding outcomes for their children, open Monday - Friday 8.00am - 6:00pm, 51 weeks of the year. Situated in the heart of Dorchester Town Centre, this beautiful Nursery forms an integral part of a happy, successful prep school for boys and girls aged 6 months to thirteen.

Each child is treated as an individual and staff pride themselves on nurturing children's individual talents, allowing them to embark on their own adventures - both inside and outside the classroom. Staff ensure a wealth of rich and stimulating experiences where the learning environment and teaching methods encourage each child's curiosity and interests to develop. Committed and caring staff include specialist teachers in music & dance, French, gardening and PE.

Little Robins Nursery develops happy, confident, independent and curious children who are eager to explore and will be ready to move onto the next stage of their learning journey. Being part of a school gives every child invaluable opportunities to take part in whole school activities, like school concerts, Nativity, sports day, Christingle and Harvest Festival, which prepares them for the next phase of their education.

Freshly prepared meals are offered on site, catering for allergies and special dietary requirements. Older Nursery children join the Junior Prep in the Dining Room for their lunch. Each teacher sits with their class for a family style meal.

Staff look to build strong relationships with parents and make sure that individual development is safeguarded and that they work together to ensure that every child shines. They use Famly to record each child’s progress, and have parents’ evenings each term as well as an open door policy, so that you can come and chat to the Nursery Managers whenever you need to.

Our experience at little Robins has been excellent. Our son loves going. They have been fantastic at doing activities with him and very helpful getting him potty trained. They are great at updating the family app with pictures and information about eating, naps and nappy changes. I would strongly recommend

I felt so terrible about leaving my babies to go back to work but have had an absolutely amazing experience with Little Robins. Knowing my little ones are outside playing in the sun, eating decent food and getting lots of attention makes me feel so much better about returning to work. They're always
happy when I pick them up and my toddler is always telling me all the fun things he's been doing in the day. Couldn't recommend this nursery more :)

What a wonderful nursery! I regularly collect my grandson, and he is always so happy and is very settled there. The staff are consistently warm, welcoming, and genuinely caring, which is incredibly reassuring. Their approach to safeguarding is excellent, giving real peace of mind.


Communication is

also outstanding - it's such a joy to receive emails with updates and photos, offering a lovely insight into the activities and experiences the children enjoy each day. The nursery also has a lovely outdoor space, which I know he really enjoys and benefits from.

My daughter has attended Little Robins since she was 9 months old. She is now 2! At the end of December she moved up to Fledglings. She has developed so much in confidence, she is really coming out of her shell. Her speech has come on leaps and bounds and the activities that she can complete with little

We couldn't be happier with our experience at Little Robins. The level of care is exceptional - every detail feels considered, and it's clear the children's wellbeing is at the heart of everything they do.
The staff are incredibly thoughtful and attentive. They take the time to really understand each
child as an individual, making accommodations that reflect each baby's unique needs, routines, and personality. This has made such a difference for our son, who is not only very happy there but also settled and secure in his environment.
There's a genuine warmth and professionalism among the team that gives real peace of mind as a parent. Communication is good, and it's obvious how much our son's key worker cares about him.
Another special aspect is the nursery's location alongside an outstanding prep school (Sunninghill). It creates a lovely atmosphere, with even the youngest babies benefiting from being in the orbit of such a vibrant, enriching educational environment.

We chose to move our son to this nursery from another local nursery and it was the best decision.
The staff are so caring and kind. They care so much about each child's development and it shows when they discuss with the parents the children's day to day accomplishments or activities.
The facilities
is so nice and really looked after. The expansive garden and play areas are so tidy and my son loves playing there and exploring.The children have access to toys for playing and learning. Which i think has taught my son very good manners and right from wrong. I'm so impressed with how much my son has learned at such a young age. That kind of understanding and development is proof of how well the staff support and care for the children.
The app is an added bonus so we can keep up with their day to day activities. I look forward to every post about their outdoor explorations or their crafting.
I have nothing but gratitude for all their hard work.

We feel incredibly lucky to have found this nursery. The staff are warm, friendly and very knowledgeable, and they genuinely care about each child as an individual. Our child spends lots of time outdoors exploring, playing and learning in the fresh air, which has really supported their confidence and
wellbeing. They also benefit from mixing with children of different ages, helping to build strong social skills and independence. Being part of a wider school community creates a lovely sense of belonging and helps make the future transition to school feel natural. The meals are healthy, varied and thoughtfully prepared, with excellent consideration for dietary requirements and allergies. The nursery is very well resourced and offers wonderful specialist sessions, such as gardening, which give the children valuable hands-on experiences.
They are also incredibly supportive of working parents, with convenient opening hours, flexible 51-week contracts and a high tea provided in the afternoon.

From the moment we entered Little Robins we knew it was the place for my little one. She started in February and I have been nothing but impressed. The staff very quickly learnt her personality, likes and dislikes. She reaches out to staff when she arrives. Smiles and most importantly is happy and safe.
The updates on the app help a worried Mum. Communication is second to none. All the staff are lovely, it's clear they care and are invested in the development of the babies/toddlers. We are delighted with the journey so far. In addition the School Headteacher welcomes you at he entrance every morning - this is a fab touch. We cannot thank the staff enough. Thank you.

My daughter went to nursery as normal but unfortunately took a turn and had a seizure from a high temp. The nursery called me and got her to the hospital asap, when I got there they stayed with me and kept me calm. If it wasn't for them and the care they did before the hospital it could have been so
different. The support that was shown to me that day I will never forget.
I can't thank this nursery enough for what they have done for me and our family. They always go above and beyond for our kids and I am extremely grateful.

    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 82 number of registered child places is 16.4, which has been reached with 49 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

My name is Laura, and I am the Deputy Head of Little Robins Nursery. I hold an NNEB and an NPQEYL, and I will soon be completing my training to become our Early Years SENDCO.


I have been part of Little Robins Nursery (formerly Sunninghill Nursery) for over 10 years. During this time, I have worked across all age groups and now serve as a room lead in our Bobbins Room, supporting our wonderful 3–4 year olds.


One of the greatest joys of my role is welcoming children as they begin their learning journey and watching them grow, flourish, and move confidently through Sunninghill Prep School. My team and I pride ourselves on knowing every child exceptionally well. This deep understanding allows us to provide the strongest possible start to their education through a fun, safe, and enabling environment where every child can thrive.
