Based in Reading, Little Griffins Nursery at St Edward's Prep is a place where children discover the world in which they live through exciting opportunities and an inspirational approach to learning.

As part of a small, friendly Prep School, children are given a great head-start on their education adventure, quickly becoming part of the wider school community. They build confidence, curiosity and independence and all have their moment to shine.

Supported by the dedicated and caring Early Years team, the children benefit from amazing indoor and outdoor learning areas, regular forest trips and lessons from specialist teachers in Music, Drama and PE.         

Children from the age of two can join the St Edward's Prep community. They love and enjoy their time in Nursery, developing a lifelong love of learning.

My son has just started nursery in September and he loves going to school and the staff. He's learning and the environment really caters for his creativity and curiosity.
I'm very happy and hope he'll be able to continue and finish primary at St Edwards.

St Edward's Prep gave my daughter the most pleasant nursery experience in England. Having tried other nurseries where she struggled to settle, the care, resources, engagement and her experience over the past three terms have been excellent. Her development has been impressive, her social skills are
being nurtured as she grows into an independent and confident girl. I would recommend St Edward's Prep School & Nursery any day.

We've had an amazing experience with the nursery, and it's been incredible to see how much our son has grown since he started. Being a Covid baby meant he missed out on a lot of social stuff early on, but the nursery was fantastic in helping him catch up. He absolutely loved the outdoor sessions with
the sports team and getting involved in special bits like the nativity, which you only really get with a school nursery.
The biggest surprise for us was seeing how confident and independent he's become. Every week he'd come home with a new skill, putting on his coat, getting his shoes on by himself, looking after his stuff - it was brilliant to see. The nursery's done so much more than we could have asked for in bringing out these practical life skills.
Big thanks to everyone there for making such a difference in our son's early years. He's got a fantastic start thanks to the nurturing and fun environment you've provided.

Kelly Turner

Job Title: Head of Early Years Joined: 2021

I joined St Edward's Prep in September 2021 and since then have had the privilege of advancing to the role of Head of Early Years. Coming from a large independent school, I was immediately drawn to St Edward's by its welcoming sense of community. As an advocate of practical, hands-on learning, I was delighted to discover a curriculum that continues to prioritise this approach even beyond the Early Years.


My passion for Early Years education began when I was still a child myself, always eager to assist my childminder with caring for younger children. This led me to pursue Early Years qualifications through university, teacher training and postgraduate learning.


Fundamentally, I believe that children are brimming with potential and it is our role to nurture their curiosity, independence and resilience, all while fostering a genuine love for learning that will accompany them throughout their educational journey. And, of course, ensuring a lot of fun along the way! This is what I and the team focus on every day at St Edward's.

Job Title: Early Years Teaching Assistant Joined: 2023

I have had a passion for childcare since my own time in education and, on completing my GCSEs, I enrolled on a childcare apprenticeship through college where I gained my NVQ Level 3 qualification.


During my time in Early Years, I have worked with a variety of children and their families, including those with SEND and speech and language needs. After almost 20 years of experience in daycare settings, including leading two rooms (under 1s and 2-5 years respectively), I made the decision to join a school environment.


I was fortunate to join St Edward's Prep in 2023 as an Early Years Teaching Assistant, as well as joining the Holiday Club team during the school breaks.
