Funky Owls Nursery is situated in the heart of Colliers Wood, just a stone's throw from the underground and local bus routes, making the setting the perfect choice for busy working parents. Behind their doors, you will find a beautifully sustainable, natural environment, where children are excited to learn, and practitioners are excited to teach.

At the same time, nestled amongst the Wandle Park, Colliers Wood Recreation Ground, and on the doorstep of Merton Abbey Mills, there is an abundance of opportunities for children to extend their learning beyond the setting on their daily excursions. The team believe children should have the opportunity to explore their local surroundings and be involved in their local community.

Funky Owls Nursery's ethos is to follow each child's lead to enhance their learning, so they can become their best self.                

The rooms are set up as follows:

Yews (3mth – approx. 18mth/ walking)

Funky Owls Nursery is open 7.30 - 18.00, Monday - Friday, closing for all public Bank Holidays, and 4 staff training days per year.

Funky Owls Nursery benefits from an onsite kitchen, where fresh food is prepared daily by their qualified Early Years Nursery Chef; they do not buy in ready meals from an external supplier.         

Funky Owls Nursery uses EYLog, an app for smartphones which provides you with all the details about your child’s day including sleep times, nappies and meals/ amount they have eaten. Each day you will receive an observation – either a photograph or video – of an activity they have particularly enjoyed.

Almost every month, parents will be invited to attend themed events, where families have the opportunity to spend more time with the wonderful team and get to know others.

We have been with Funky Owls for a little over one year, since our daughter was 8 months old. We noticed how fast she developed from the very first week. I appreciate the constant feedback about her day and every time she displays a new behaviour or skill. We've had some disagreements at one point,
but they were satisfactorily handled by the nursery's management, bringing our trust in their jobs to become even higher. Above all, the excitement our daughter shows at every drop-off gets us very happy and it soothes our hearts that she's being taken care well at Funky Owls.

Our little one has been attending Funky Owls since she turned 9 months old, she is now 2 and loves attending. She is always when she is dropped off. We have found all the staff from management to the nursery practitioners supportive, helpful, caring and friendly.
Communication is very good. We are
told how our little one's day has been and what she has been up to at every pick-up, followed by a daily report via an app. And management also send out weekly newsletters. The nursery provides nappies and all meals and they also have a chef on-site, so the quality of food is always good and there is a varied menu. The only downside is they don't have an on-site outside space but this is made up by taking the children out at least once a day for walks and trips. I definitely recommend Funky Owls Nursery.

From the very beginning, we have been thoroughly impressed with Funky Owls. The nursery provides us (the parents) with confidence that our child is truly nurtured. Over the years, we have seen our child grow up to be a beautiful individual and we attribute this to the amazing teachers at Funky Owls.
the staff managing the nursery also provides a very good supporting role.
Funky Owls feels like a family unit, where everyone truly cares about the children. Along with the creative activities, music and yoga classes. The children also venture out to experience the outdoors.

Our eldest started her Funky Owl journey when she was 1 year old. It always seems like a daunting task, starting nursery after your baby has been at home but it was such a smooth transition and I quickly saw just how positive this environment was for our daughter. The staff are nurturing and supportive,
the communications are excellent and the little extras along the way are very special. At first, I was hesitant about the lack of outside space but then I realised it was actually a perk because it meant they took the kids out every day, sometimes twice a day on exciting trips like the local farm, the fire station and numerous parks (rather than just relying on a small piece of turf). The food is also excellent! When it came to enrolling our second, it was a no-brainer that it was going to be Funky Owl once again.

We couldn't have asked for a better setting for our twin boys. The team at Funky Owls were fantastic, and the boys loved going there. They had an outing every day and always came home tired out and ready for bed! The chef prepared some great meals for them - I’d often be jealous of the menu myself!
The staff all seemed to love working there, and we were always happy with the boy's key workers. We’ve just signed up our one-week-old baby to start next year! Highly recommend.

Our eldest child was enrolled at Funky Owls Nursery from the age of 8 months until 2 and a 1/2 years old. The dedicated staff consistently provided exceptional care, ensuring our little one always emerged with a beaming smile from the day's enjoyable activities. Despite lacking a private outdoor space,
the absence allowed for more exciting adventures exploring local parks, farms, and playgrounds on a daily basis. The regular updates, complete with photos and videos, kept us involved in their daily experiences. I wholeheartedly recommend Funky Owls to any parents contemplating it for their children!

Both of my boys attended Funky Owls Nursery from 1 year old through to reception age! The staff were amazing and took such great care of them. They always came out with a big smile and were exhausted from all the fun activities they had done that day.
While they didn’t have a private outdoor space,
it meant they had more adventures exploring parks, farms and playgrounds daily.
I loved getting updates throughout the day with photos/videos and updates on what they were doing, and at the end, there was an opportunity to buy a book with all the memories and photos.
I’d highly recommend Funky Owls for any parents who are considering it for their kids!

Both our boys attended Funky Owls until we moved out of the area - we were there for over 3 years with our eldest starting just after the first lockdown until preschool graduation in Aug 2023.
The staff were all friendly and professional, and it feels like management cares about their wellbeing. Somehow
the chef managed to get my son to eat his veg and it is a testament to Funky Owls that he was so well prepared to start school, even as a newbie. While there's no external space, I think that it's a positive as the children were able to explore a range of outdoor areas nearby. Sadly my youngest now has a small outdoor space in his current nursery and they never go anywhere! Great communication throughout the day with the app with plenty of photos. The price is comparable to others nearby. Funky Owls hosted lots of events throughout the year which was a great way to also meet other parents. My eldest dearly misses the nursery and still talks very fondly of his time there and the friends he has made. All round a fab nursery!
