Our daughter has just spent 2.5 wonderful years at Nordic Star, until she reluctantly had to leave for "big girl school".
We're very grateful for the warmth and kindness of staff she experienced throughout her time there, the many friends she made, and the many memories and opportunities to grow.
The
facilities are nice and airy with high ceilings. While there's no private outside space, the nearest park is 30 seconds away and we found that children would go out almost every day in practice.
The activities are varied, management is actually serious about the learning curriculum here (we have since learnt that's not always the case everywhere else !). Parents are kept informed of the day's activities via the app, which gives us things to discuss at pickup and dinner time. We get regular reports and personalised goals.
A small negative is that there has been quite a bit of staff / management turnover over the years, but that hasn't significantly affected us.
Highly recommended !

Nordic Star Nursery is amazing! I was struggling to find a nursery space for my 2-year daughter and was so happy and lucky that I had found a space for her at Nordic Star Nursery. What a special place to be. All of the staff are wonderful, caring and so supportive.
Many thanks from the heart for all
your hard work, love, dedication, and patience to the children, and for keeping personal belongings in order (toys, clothes), helping with potty training, caring when they are not feeling well, making every day a fun environment to go to which was also very important.
They also learn the months of the year, the days of the week, the numbers, etc, through play and songs that were easy to memorise. This will make the transition from nursery to Reception very smooth.
A big thank you to all the members of staff that work there.

We couldn't be happier with Nordic Star Nurseries. From the caring and enthusiastic staff to the great environment, this nursery just ticks all the boxes. Our son is happy to go into nursery each day and settled in extremely quickly - the staff know him well and he is always greeted warmly and affectionately.
Every single one of the team is truly amazing, so friendly, helpful and attentive. They create an ever-changing array of educational and fun activities on interesting and creative themes. Have to mention the food menu too, so well thought out and nutritious! Communication works perfectly which makes everything smoother. We receive regular updates throughout the day via the app, and it is always lovely to see pictures of our son having fun whilst we are at work.

Our daughter has attended Nordic Star Nurseries for a few months now and has a great bond with her key worker. The staff continuously go out of their way to make it an amazing experience for the children and parents alike. They are always doing new and fun activities around a structured learning plan
and as a result, we have seen our daughter gain new confidence as well as learning new skills. Most of all, you can really tell the staff care and share in your child's achievements. It feels like an extended family.

We just started our daughter at Nordic Star and have had a wonderful experience. The staff have been so collaborative with us on finding a schedule that works well for her, keeping us updated on her progress and otherwise transitioning to nursery. They have helped keep this first-time parent at ease.
Our daughter seems to love the food, her key worker and all the staff. She is excited every time we drop her off and so happy when we pick her up.

Our son started to attend at 14 months, he took around two weeks to settle in and now loves it. I can tell because he doesn't cry at all at drop off in the morning and looks so happy in the photos we are sent. The settling-in period really helped as did his connection to the key worker who genuinely
seems to care, as do the other key workers. It seems to be a great environment to learn in.

My son absolutely loves Nordic Star Nursery! When he started he had just turned one year old and had issues with being with anyone but me and his dad. However, the team made his settling-in process seamless and now he really enjoys his time and has bonded well with his key worker and other members of
staff. I was also really impressed with how the staff accommodated my son's egg allergy, he really enjoys the food which is a plus! The nursery gives regular updates throughout the day of my son's activities and well-being, along with photos. Really great to see! Overall I'm so happy with the nursery, staff and management.

Our son started nursery at Nordic Star when he was 12 months old. We were worried at first because he wasn't used to being around other people, let alone being taken care of by someone other than my husband or myself. With the gentle, supportive, caring approach of the staff, our son has settled into
life at nordic star and is thriving under their care. He has had two key workers, whom he absolutely adores. We have been really lucky to have them support his transition - they are both warm, nurturing and professional.

Our son is absolutely loving Nordic Star Islington! He started just before his 2nd birthday, and all the staff have done an amazing job helping him to settle and get the most out of his days there. He literally cannot wait for Nursery days, and it's a tough job getting him to leave. All the staff have
been amazing, but a massive thank you to all the staff in Järvi room, who go above and beyond to make every moment at Nordic Star fun and engaging. It's been such a pleasure watching him develop over the last few months, and we get daily updates from him listing off his favourite staff, and all his friends. Would happily recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a setting with a difference, and the educational philosophy to back it up. Thank you.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (7.959)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (7.959) out of 10 for Nordic Star Nurseries Islington is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.909 for Nordic Star Nurseries Islington is calculated as follows: ( (10 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 11 Ratings = 4.909
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.05 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Nordic Star Nurseries Islington is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 100 number of registered child places is 20. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 20 = 0.05
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
