Newlands Early Years Centre opened in September 2021 after The Early Years Group took over from Footprints. The setting will continue to operate the same way it has done for over 40 years, enabling children to grow & develop to reach their full potential.
The setting is based within the grounds of Newlands Primary School in a purpose-built building, catering for up to 28 children aged between 2 to 5 years old. The centre is bright with lots of natural lighting, & a mixture of lamps & fairy lights to create a cosy, inviting space for children to play & learn with fully resourced areas inside & outside.
Each child has an assigned key worker who communicates closely with parents & carers to ensure they can follow the children's interests & development each day, giving them peace of mind that their child is in excellent hands. Each key worker has an allocated colour, which is reflected in their registration star so that they quickly become familiar with their key person & the other children in that group as well. As the team is small, all the staff know each child extremely well, & once the child is settled with their key person, they then build strong bonds with the rest of the team, who are familiar of where they are within their learning & development as well as current interests.
The setting is extremely fortunate to have access to a wrap around garden which has been separated into three different areas, one area for play with resources, woodwork, stories etc, one for scooters and ride on cars & the the third area for large loose parts. The centre is currently working with the primary school on site to develop a shared area into a sensory garden & have also secured a regular scheduled time to take the children to the schools playground and field.
Snack & lunch time are social occasions where there are discussions about the day and what to do next as well as sharing jokes from their yoghurts!

I absolutely love Newlands Early Years Centre and all of the staff, 3 children through the doors in the last 7 years, and I have one more to join in a few years time. My 2-year-old is currently in 3 days a week and going full time in September, I couldn't imagine entrusting any other setting with my children. The learning is wide and varied and they always encourage all the children in the setting to try new things and to get involved with all the activities. They can't do enough for the children and the parents alike, communication is fantastic its just an all-around wonderful preschool for all children. And as it's next to Newlands School it's been a fantastic feeder for my 2 eldest children. I cannot recommend Newlands Early Years Centre enough.

My son has announced without being asked that his school is good and that he enjoys it. I feel confident and comfortable leaving him there and was thrilled when he said he prefers this school to his last. I would absolutely recommend this nursery/preschool.
