Newlands Early Years Centre opened in September 2021 after The Early Years Group took over from Footprints. The setting will continue to operate the same way it has done for over 40 years, enabling children to grow & develop to reach their full potential.
The setting is based within the grounds of Newlands Primary School in a purpose-built building, catering for up to 28 children aged between 2 to 5 years old. The centre is bright with lots of natural lighting, & a mixture of lamps & fairy lights to create a cosy, inviting space for children to play & learn with fully resourced areas inside & outside.
Each child has an assigned key worker who communicates closely with parents & carers to ensure they can follow the children's interests & development each day, giving them peace of mind that their child is in excellent hands. Each key worker has an allocated colour, which is reflected in their registration star so that they quickly become familiar with their key person & the other children in that group as well. As the team is small, all the staff know each child extremely well, & once the child is settled with their key person, they then build strong bonds with the rest of the team, who are familiar of where they are within their learning & development as well as current interests.
The setting is extremely fortunate to have access to a wrap around garden which has been separated into three different areas, one area for play with resources, woodwork, stories etc, one for scooters and ride on cars & the the third area for large loose parts. The centre is currently working with the primary school on site to develop a shared area into a sensory garden & have also secured a regular scheduled time to take the children to the schools playground and field.
Snack & lunch time are social occasions where there are discussions about the day and what to do next as well as sharing jokes from their yoghurts!

He is well looked after by all the team, with particular support from his key worker, who has been responsible for him since he joined Newlands. All in all, a very good preparation for joining infant school in September.

We honestly couldn't have wished for a better preschool. Both of our boys have been so happy here, and from the moment we drop them off we know they're loved and in the very best hands. The staff are truly amazing-so kind, caring and dedicated. They provide a wide variety of fun activities, and my son especially loves the woodworking at the tinkering station. It's been wonderful to see his confidence and creativity grow.

I have been caring for children going to this preschool from the time it opened in 2021 and before they took over another nursery. They have always been very professional and show great care, attention and kindness to all the children. The current child I care for will be leaving for primary school at the end of term, and the staff, especially her key worker Michelle, have nurtured her into a confident and well rounded child. She always is happy to be dropped to preschool and has many friends. Her knowledge in all areas has been encourages and expanded. A preschool I am happy to recommend.

I took my child to Newlands Preschool yesterday for his trial session ahead of starting next week, and I couldn't be happier.
I was very nervous as I've never left him with anyone other than family, but from the reassuring phone call the day before-where they took time to answer all our questions-I already felt more at ease.
When we arrived, we were welcomed so warmly. The staff were incredibly kind and made my child a priority straight away. He settled in so quickly, which showed just how safe and happy he felt.
He had a wonderful time, and it's clear the environment is thoughtfully set up for children to thrive. The staff are caring, confident, and attentive.
I left feeling completely reassured about the week ahead-and most importantly, so did my child. It's such a lovely, nurturing environment and I'm really excited for him to start.

We've had such a wonderful experience with this nursery. The staff are incredibly friendly and kind, and it's clear they genuinely care about the children. They really do go above and beyond every day. What stands out most is how well they support each child's individual needs while working closely with parents. They've been amazing with our son, especially when he feels overwhelmed. Thanks to their patience and understanding, he's now much more confident managing his emotions. They've also done a fantastic job supporting his learning and development, and we love seeing regular photo updates on the app.
We couldn't be happier with the care and support they provide.

My little boy loves this place!
On the days he is attending that setting he wakes up very early and cant wait to go and meet all his friends and teachers. I find them to be amazing and very attending to his needs. He is having time of his life there.
