Welcome to the award-winning day nursery, located in the heart of Alton on the beautiful grounds of Wootey Infant School.
First Friends provide high-quality childcare for children aged 6 months to 5 years in a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating environment.

First Friends have a strong relationship with both Wootey Infant and Junior Schools, supports a seamless and reassuring transition when the time comes for children to move on to primary education.

Open 51 weeks of the year, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm—closing only for one week over the Christmas period.

First Friends curriculum balances structured, guided learning with plenty of opportunities for child-led exploration. This thoughtful blend helps build confidence, curiosity, and a strong foundation for school readiness.

Every child is valued as an individual, and the dedicated team works in close partnership with families to ensure every child is supported to thrive, develop, and enjoy their early years.

Amazing staff with so much heart and a caring mindset. It’s wonderful seeing our daughter get excited about going to nursery school here. In just a short month our daughter's vocabulary and social skills have improved tremendously. The teachers really make an effort to engage the kids and develop them
in a very individualised way. The staff is really committed to providing a safe, fun, and loving environment and we’re very thankful to the manager and the whole team at First Friends Day Nursery!

Our little boy joined First Friends - Wootey’s in April and has very much enjoyed his mornings there so far. This is the first time we have left him in daycare and we were initially worried about leaving him but the staff (the manager especially) very quickly helped ease our anxiety and was patient
and sympathetic in taking my frequent phone calls to check in on him in the first week. Our son speaks very fondly about all the grown-ups that look after him. The manager and staff provide a safe, happy and enjoyable environment for the children, we really enjoy the app updates including photos they take time to post for us. With a wide range of activities such as forest school, music sessions and messy play our little boy seems to enjoy his time there and thriving for it. Couldn’t be happier or more grateful for the wonderful care they have taken of him. Would not hesitate to recommend.

My daughter has been going to this nursery for just over a month and she seems as happy as can be!
She’s forever telling me about her day, activities, the staff and the children that she plays with.
I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking to put their little one into Pre-School.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

My name is Jane and I am the manager of First Friends Day Nursery at Wootey, Alton.


I have previously worked as Deputy Manager for a nationwide nursery chain and completed my Level 3 qualification a few years’ ago. I am extremely passionate about SENCo and ensuring every child is provided with equal opportunities. What I love most about my role is seeing the children learn and thrive throughout their journey with us.


Our nursery offers toddler and pre-school care all year round. We have fantastic outdoor space where our children get lots of time to play and learn in the fresh air. Come along and see for yourself and meet the team.
