Linskill Nursery provides a safe and welcoming environment for children to learn, explore and discover.

Nature, community and the environment inspire the nursery curriculum, whilst Forest School, Sensory Room and Squiggles N Giggles all provide access to additional stimulating activities. Curiosity and investigation are key aspects of the children's time at the nursery, using a range of natural materials and outdoor learning experiences.

Inside the nursery the nature theme continues and children progress through a range of fully-equipped and age-appropriate rooms - Bunnies, Squirrels, Foxes all the way through to Owls.

Linskill's trained and motivated team works incredibly hard to deliver sensitive and effective childcare and education to help your child their full potential.

Our son loves going to Linskill nursery - all of the staff members are enthusiastic and are great at encouraging the children in play - ensuring they develop mentally, socially and physically. They do lots of outdoor play and messy play which our son loves. They can also use the sensory room at the
centre which is great for the younger children. The Famly app is regularly updated so we can see what he is doing and when he has napped / what he has eaten. I would highly recommend Linskill nursery.

We have had a wonderful nursery experience at Linskill from beginning to nearing the end. The nursery is warming and friendly and has a very personal feel all staff members know all of the children and they make them feel very special and safe. The Forrest school is a brilliant weekly addition for
the children to really explore and adventure. The wild garden is a grim favourite with our child. This nursery is continually improving and developing and you can see how happy all the children are.

I cannot rate Linskill Nursery highly enough, the nursery has been the perfect setting for my little boy who has attended since he was 12 months old and will be leaving Linskill Nursery in August 2021 ready for school. My little boy was recently diagnosed with autism and the nursery played a really
supportive role in helping with his diagnosis, this has included working closely with additional support services, accessing funding to offer him one to one support and putting in place personalised learning opportunities for my little boy. Overall, they have provided my little boy with a safe and happy learning environment. Additionally, as a parent of a child with additional needs, I have always been made to feel comfortable and well supported. The classrooms and outdoor spaces offer the children really spacious areas to play and they are always clean, tidy and very user friendly. Ten out of ten.

My son has autism so I was very worried and nervous about putting him in a mainstream setting for the first time. This nursery is amazing. They went above and beyond to make sure my son settled in. My son has now been going here since September and the progress he has made is fantastic. The staff in
the room are great at following my child's interests and making special adaptions to make his nursery day as easy going and as fun as possible for him. 5-star nursery all round! Highly recommend.

I visited several nurseries before deciding on this one and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The staff are so warm and friendly, I always feel happy leaving my son in their care. They provide great learning opportunities and he particularly enjoys playing out in the garden and in the wild garden.
He loves the meals and always comes home happy and content. I would highly recommend the Linskill Nursery to everyone.

We have been using Linskill Nursery for 6 years now (both with my youngest son who currently attends and our older boy) and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. It's a nurturing, fun and safe environment and the "rooms" work very well to encourage and develop children at their different stages of development.
Both my sons love/loved going and all the fun they had and the older rooms prepares them very well for school with excellent structured activities which follow the EYFS Framework.

Our 16 month old daughter started nursery in September of last year, due to the obvious reasons of the pandemic we had not been able to attend any baby groups so we were a little worried how she would adapt. We should not have been concerned at all, from the very beginning the staff were very friendly,
professional, welcoming and supportive to our daughter's needs. The nursery itself is very well organised, the rooms are lovely and our daughter always looks like she is having fun whilst learning.

Our son is 20 months old and has been at Linskill Nursery for about 6 months. From day one the staff have gone above and beyond to ensure that he has felt safe and happy. Before starting he had not been away from us very often due to current restrictions, so he took a little time to settle in. Throughout
this, the staff have worked hard to find ways to help him feel ok and to keep me informed and reassured. They send messages to let me know he is ok, update the Tapestry account regularly, sent their photos home with us, and hold him in mind even on the days he isn’t there. My son loves them all- he kisses their photos at home!
The nursery does a range of activities- inc messy play, trips to the local park, and time in their wild garden. The meals are of good quality and our son seems to eat them all most days!
Overall, the nursery team have helped our family through what has been a difficult year, and are a wonderful addition to our sons’ life. We couldn’t recommend more highly.

We can't recommend this nursery highly enough. The facilities are fab and constantly being updated. From the sensory room to the dance hall there is so much to do for little minds. The addition and improvement of outdoor spaces, such as the wild garden are fantastic ideas. Our son has been going to
the nursery for over 18 months since he was 8 months old and has absolutely thrived from being a shy baby to an outgoing young man who loves to sing and dance. The staff are the icing on the cake and support both you and the needs of your child.

Our sons attend Linskill Nursery and I cannot say enough about how amazing the staff are there. They take time to really get to know the children and do everything they can to help them settle in and get the most out of their time at nursery. Our boys were recently adopted when they started at this
nursery and the staff instantly engaged with us as to what specific needs they had and communication between home and nursery has remained excellent. We have been so impressed with how knowledgeable the staff are and how much our boys have developed since being there. We would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this nursery, they are kind and nurturing and the focus on outdoor play is excellent. We are so glad that our boys are at Linskill Nursery, they love spending time in the wild gardens and even try all the different food on offer (something they won’t do at home!).

My 4 year old son has attended the Linskill Nursery since he was 12 months old. The staff have always been professional, approachable and supportive and he has been very happy here. There are also great opportunities for activities both on-site (use of the dance studio/sensory room/outdoor play areas)
and off-site with forest school and other visits.

Both our girls, aged 4 and 2, have attended since they were babies and have thrived at Linskill. The staff clearly care a great deal and our two love going. Over the time they have been there, we've seen the changes to the outdoor spaces and commitment to learning based in nature which is great to see.

Our 16-month-old son started at Linskill Nursery a few months ago having been at another nursery before. Because of the lockdown, he was unable to have visits before starting which made us a bit nervous. All the staff welcomed him on his first day, and he instantly gave them a smile which made us feel
so happy. They made sure that they uploaded lots of pictures and updates in the first week, and seemed to really care about us as parents as well as for our son. They have listened to us and what we do at home so that nursery has become a "home away from home". We are really pleased that we moved our son here, and can't recommend Linskill Nursery enough!

Current Review Score: 8.6 (8.563)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.6 (8.563) out of 10 for Linskill Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 4 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.6 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.938 for Linskill Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 48 Ratings = 4.938
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.625 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Linskill Nursery is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 number of registered child places is 16. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.25
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Children and Young People's Manager Joined: 2016

Hi, I am the Children and Young People’s Manager for the Linskill Trust.

I have worked with children and families for over 20 years and an experienced playworker, childcare practitioner and family support worker.

My role is to lead the nursery as we strive to be one of the best childcare providers in the area, regularly looking for new ways to improve the offer and develop the service. As part of the Senior Management Team for the Trust, I also have responsibility for the wider Family Programme which includes Squiggles N Giggles (an activity programme for families with under 5s), and the development of the Family Support offer.

Protecting and promoting good mental health of both children and parents is one of my main motivators in this work to help ensure children are happy and healthy. I am passionate about supporting the whole family so that all children have access to a fair and equal start in life so by the time they start school, they are ready to learn and achieve. I’m really into play in the outdoors, getting out in the fresh air, particularly in a woodland type environment since being out amongst the trees and nature is proven to have a wealth of health benefits both physically and emotionally.

I have a teenage daughter who keeps me busy at home and I enjoy keeping fit (well, trying!).

Thanks
Louise

My name is Debra and I am a Nursery Manager with over 20 years experience of working in childcare.

I had a career change after having my own children, as I was amazed watching my children learn and develop and it inspired me to become an early years worker. Once in childcare, I realised that working and supporting children with additional needs was an area I wanted to pursue and after more training, I became a nursery SENCO.

I love books and feel it’s very important to introduce books to children at a very early age, a particular favourite of mine is ‘Giraffes Can’t Dance’. I enjoy reading stories to the children watching their faces light up when their favourite book is chosen and listening as they join in with the story.

I have been married for over 40 years and have 2 grown-up children and when not in nursery I like to spend time with my family which includes a naughty little dog who loves getting very muddy.

I love to read, and I make lots of story sacks for the children to enjoy as the love of books/stories starts from the Early Years. I am also creative and love making things, which I will be sharing with the preschool children on a weekly basis, passing on my skills.

I have been with my husband for 32 years, married for 24 years with 5 grown-up children.

Hi, my name is Ally and I have worked in childcare for over 20 years and have an NVQ level 3. I have 3 grown-up daughters and 2 grandsons.

From leaving school I knew working within a childcare environment was my vocation. I have experience of being a nanny, working in a crèche facilitating a variety of family groups, from bumps to babies to boogie bunnies. I began working in the nursery when my youngest daughter started school.

I currently work in the Owlets room. I find my job so fulfilling as our daily routine is a very busy one. Observing the children as they explore new activities with such enthusiasm is so rewarding - whether it be messy play (we do lots of that) or exploring the wild garden, learning to balance, climb and jump. The children in our care have lots of opportunities during their nursery day.

The relationships built with the children and parents and carers are so rewarding. To see the children coming into the nursery happy and smiling is wonderful, as they wave goodbye to parents and carers and begin their busy day at nursery.

I am passionate about supporting children and families with additional needs as my grandson was diagnosed with ASD in 2018, opening up a new world to me and a pathway I knew little about. I am proud to say I can help and support parents and carers through this journey and welcome any questions or enquiries at any time.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandsons aged 10 years and 7 years. I have a mischievous tortoise called Dave who is 7 years old and loves to give me the runaround hiding in the most hilarious places.
