Explorers Collier Row nursery in Romford is easily accessible from nearby towns and cities via public transport and is open full time, from 7.30am to 6pm looking after children from three months to five years old.

The nursery provides children with an inspiring environment where they can learn and grow to reach their full potential. The toys and equipment used all provide context for your child's learning and to cover all areas of learning.

This includes the children's personal, social and emotional development, an understanding of the world around them, communication, literacy and language, physical development, problem-solving, numeracy and of course creative development.

All staff are committed to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that is inclusive, and they tailor their care to meet each individual child's needs.

Children spend lots of time outside which they love as it gives them an opportunity to connect with the natural environment, elements and seasons. At the nursery, they plant and grow trees, discover wildlife and build dens.

We're so happy with this nursery and the wonderful care our daughter receives. The staff are warm, nurturing, and genuinely dedicated to the children's development and happiness.

She has grown so much in confidence and independence since starting, and she comes home excited to tell us about her day.

The environment is safe, engaging, and well organised, and communication with parents is excellent.

We're truly grateful for the amazing team and would highly recommend this nursery to any parent.

My son this year will be sadly leaving Explorers. When he first joined Explorers he he had difficulties talking and understanding (late learner) I was so worried about him as he is very clingy child and very picky eater but Explorers is like a second home for him and the only place he is comfortable
without me. He has developed so much and learnt to try to eat new foods he has started talk and I can see the huge development. I just don' t know how we will cope without Explorers and we will certainly miss the staff. Everyone gave extra care and attention.
Reply from Richelle Cook, Director at Explorers Collier RowWe understand how emotional this transition can feel, and we're so proud of how far he has come. Seeing his growth in confidence, communication, and willingness to try new things has been incredibly special for all of us.
We know how difficult those early days can be, especially when a child feels unsure, so it's wonderful to hear that Explorers became a place where he feels safe, happy, and at home.
He is going to be so missed by the whole team, and we're sure he will continue to thrive in his next chapter. Thank you for trusting us with his care and development-it's been an absolute pleasure to support him and your family

Such a lovely nursery. Nice separation by children's age and ability. One visit and I knew it would be right for my child. The staff manage transitions well. Communicate well. Share regular photos and updates. You really feel comfortable with leaving your child with people you know care for them in
a space the kids enjoy. Only 'downside' is replacing lots of messy clothes but it honestly reflects in how many wonderful activities they get to do. My child's speech, development, potty training. Everything. Has been so well supported by everyone who is part of the team at collier row explorers

My son started at Explorers Collier Row in Sept 24. We can already see the impact of attending a nursery, he is able to play on his own, say a few phrases and interact with different people now. So happy we chose Explorers, the setting is split into three rooms that are massive and have so many activities
for the children to do. The staff are always lovely! Highly recommend.

The staff here are such a lovely team of girls, they look after my daughter so well. They teach the children a lot from learning colors and animals to getting school ready. My daughter’s speech has expanded a lot since going to this nursery, her tidying skills are on point, she loves playing with others
now, and she has made lots of friends. I would definitely recommend this nursery to others.

My son attends nursery every day currently in pre-school. He is happy to go in and has felt comfortable being there from when he was a year old. He has been supported by all staff members, and as parents, we have also been supported and always given information on our child at all times. He really enjoys
the activities in the setting and the extracurricular activities that the nursery provides, which helps his learning and development.

My child was very unsettled when settling into the nursery, but all the staff of Explorers Collier Row helped made her feel welcome and at home, she soon settled in, which made me so happy. All the staff are like one big family, and their passion and love shine through their hard work, looking after
our babies, and helping them grow and develop. I would never send my child anywhere else. The resources used throughout the setting are next to none. My child has developed so much in the short time she has been there. As soon as you walk into the nursery, it is like home from home.

I always have a very pleasant experience when picking my niece up from this nursery. The teachers always make sure to keep you informed at the handovers with how the child was throughout the day and post plenty of pictures and updates onto the app showing all the activities and achievements the child
gets up to during the day. Extremely happy with this nursery and would recommend it to everyone!
Reply from Richelle Cook, Director at Explorers Collier RowThe app is a wonderful tool and all those who use it in the setting comment how useful it is. We know how important it is for families to see what the childreen are doing whilst they are at nursery. Thank you for your recommendation!

The nursery is very good and my daughter is enjoying the time with other kids and carers!
She is learning lots of songs, doing drawing and educational activities and her English improved far better since she started! Staff are careful and very knowledgeable about details and behaviour as they know
what my kid loves and what not!
Much more could be told but I truly recommend the Explorers Collier Row.

Amazing place, where kids are truly looked after and supported with their learning progress. Caring staff, safe environment and fantastic activities- everything you really want and need for your child. Safeguarding is a priority in Explorers. Playing area has been currently renovated and kids now how
extra room with lovely playing stations. You won’t find there noisy, flashing toys- but lots of natural texture, role-playing, Montessori, cooking and baking activities. Children are learning about phonics, gardening, and different cultures. And each day spend as much time as possible outdoors. Explorers team is simply amazing. Doing absolutely fantastic job! They will make sure your precious child is looked after and will communicate with you throughout the day if there is a need. They are caring and kids love them! Would highly recommend Explorers Collier Row.

Best nursery in the area!
My eldest went and he loved it never had any issues he didn’t want to leave. Currently, my other 2 kids go and they both love it so much that my daughter cried to go more days and the manager is so friendly and accommodating and managed to get her in for another afternoon
so she goes 4 afternoons a week now and she has come on so much since she has been going. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, my kids all adore them and even my eldest who’s now 6 still gets hugs every time he goes in with me to pick up. When I’ve needed additional sessions it’s never been a problem unless they are full. They do so many activities with the kids and get people coming in to do different activities with them too and they come out of the nursery telling me about what they got up to for the session. Going to be really upset when my youngest leaves for school but I 100% recommend them.

I have a two year old and a six month old in Little Explorers. I could not rate them highly enough. It has a lovely family feel, whilst still having plenty of space for the children to have fun. The love and care shown to my children and myself has been amazing. Every nursery teacher and manager shows
genuine love for my children, which means so much to know they are being well cared for. The baby/toddler room is larger than any I’ve known at other nurseries and it is light and airy. The preschool side has lots of different areas to keep them occupied and they are always being creative with making cakes, crafts and even doing science experiments. They also get daily time outside on the different bikes, slides and climbing frames. The app I have found very useful and has been extremely reassuring to be able to communicate effectively throughout the day. I know when they have slept, what they have eaten and get sent photos of them there. Overall, I have been very impressed with this nursery!

I’ve had such an incredible and positive experience with Explorers Collier Row and feel so grateful and lucky to have chosen them as the nursery for my daughter. After viewing lots of nurseries in the local area, I settled on Explorers due to an in-depth and knowledgeable walk around with one of the
staff members. She was instantly friendly and approachable and put any worries I had at ease. My daughter has been attending a few months now, she is just over a year old, and I have seen such a difference in her. Although anxious initially, Explorers went above and beyond to make sure she settled in and felt at ease etc. They really care about the children and this is seen through both their relationships with them and the day to day learning (roleplay, arts, outside learning and etc.). Communication and use of the app is outstanding. Staff are professional, approachable and it really feels like a family and a community. The setting itself is clean, as well as inviting and engaging for children of all ages. Highly recommend.

Fantastic nursery, child settled in really well with support from all staff. Staff on door are really attentive, communicative and knowledgeable and immediately know your child’s needs and their name, likes / dislikes etc. When you walk in you get such a positive and calming feel from the learning environment
and the nursery itself is large, bright, clean and spacious with a lovely outdoor play area. Staff go above and beyond and the app is always updated daily with pictures and details of your child’s day, mealtimes etc. Children are exposed to lots of fun learning activities from a young age and after a few months my child has come home learning a range of different new skills that have been supported and learnt at the nursery. I feel 100% safe leaving my child at the nursery and she comes out with the biggest smile on her face. Staff really make this a great nursery and we are lucky to have such a brilliant Nursery in Collier Row.

I cannot speak more highly of Explorers if I tried. My son started in September after attending a childminder for the first 3 years of his life. The growth and development he has made have been incredible. He suffers from speech issues and that has come on leaps and bounds, he is now more sociable and
even our friends have commented on his confidence. As an early years practitioner myself I think Explorers are wonderful at nurturing and developing young minds. I shall miss it when my son goes to school in September.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.600)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.600) out of 10 for Explorers Collier Row is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Explorers Collier Row is calculated as follows: ( (84 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Explorers Collier Row is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 number of registered child places is 6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
