Seahorse Nursery - Wimbledon Park Day Nursery is across 2 buildings located on Arthur Road, each less than a minute's walk from Wimbledon Park Tube Station.

The nursery has 4 separate classrooms, Starfish Room for ages 3 months to 2 years, Sea Turtle Room for 2-3-year-olds, and Seahorse Room for Preschool.

The Starfish room has a large open space filled with exciting equipment for the children to explore, as well as a quiet and cosy sleeping space.

The Sea Turtle Room has a large classroom perfect for a range of fun activities, as well as a separate classroom for circle time activities, storytime, mindfulness and quiet time.

The Seahorse Room for Preschoolers has a range of spaces from a quiet reading corner for storytime and INKY SWOT lessons, to art activities, Montessori trays and a larger space to play.

The nursery also has a secure outdoor play area which the children use multiple times a day. As well as the outdoor play area, the children also regularly visit Wimbledon Park, which is a short walk away, for park trips or their Forest School lessons.

The Nursery also engages with extra-curricular classes of French, Tennis, Music, and Baby Sensory.

We have been really pleased with the care provided by Seahorse Nursery - Wimbledon Park Day Nursery and the progress our children have made there. The nursery workers are genuinely really loving towards the children and we have great confidence they are being well looked after. The management team are
very proactive with child development at the very core of their focus. The activities at every stage are really varied with external music classes, trips to the playground and the weekly forest school, all of which have been a real highlight. I’d definitely recommend to any family in the area.

We had an overall good experience with Seahorse Nursery, can't really compare to any other nurseries as we have no prior nursery experience. At times we did feel communication from nursery was poor and sometimes combative; this has however improved in the last few months since Seahorse reopened after
lockdown 1 and our daughter finally moved up to the next level. We also feel that the high turnover of staff is not ideal. When we enrolled our daughter back in January 2019 we did so because of the staff but in the time she left the baby room not a single one of the staff members were still with the nursery. Last thing the parent app is terrible and in today's day and age of technology, surely there must be something better out there.
Overall we had a good experience and would like to thank you for being part of our daughter's younger years education.

Over a short period of time, the staff and in particular, the key person, made a strong bond with my 8-month-old at the time. This made the transition from home to nursery very smooth, tear-free and reassuring.

My daughter started Seahorse when she was 1. She left in August this year aged 3.5 due to starting at a nursery attached to future primary school. I truly believe she could not have been more cared for and nurtured in the way that she has been by Seahorse. From day 1, they went out of their way to make
sure she was settling in well and forming strong bonds with the staff in her room (and looking after me as I left in tears). They always provided detailed feedback on how she spent her days, including emotions/food eaten/who she had played with etc. When picking up, I would often come a bit early and everyone was having a blast whether it was reading funny stories or playing games. My daughter has the best sense of humour and is so kind and considering the time spent at Seahorse, they must at least partly take the credit. Issues like when she was scared of fireworks or would not sleep in her own bed were overcome through things Seahorse did or suggested. Thoroughly recommend them.

My son is 1 and 1/2 years old. He really enjoyed going to the nursery. As soon as he's at the gates, he's looking forward to going in. They have structured learning and always provide updates to the child's progress. The food they provide is excellent. My child was a fussy eater to start with, and slowly
he ate more and more. Also, my son enjoys helping to bake cupcakes. Overall, an outstanding nursery.

Super nursery - structured, but flexible. Seahorse manages to blend a caring environment with a firm intention to progress the children. The management and members of staff are switched on and on my wavelength. My daughter incorporates polite turns of phrases in her chat that we haven’t taught her yet.
Her interest in books and recognition of numbers are impressive (the latter aided I think by watching Numberblocks on CBBC). Her creation of pieces of art is encouraging, especially as we don’t do much art at home to avoid the mess. She says (since she turned two) she has enjoyed her day. I speak to many parents in a park who want or wanted their child to go to Seahorse, but couldn’t for lack space at the relevant time. I feel she is having a quality experience.

Harriet

Harriet Wolfe

Job Title: Principal Joined: 2012

Harriet, the daughter of the founder of Seahorse Nursery Julia, has been involved with the expansion of the nurseries since 2012. Harriet has Qualified Teacher Status in her Early Years, specialising in ages 0-5 years. She is heavily involved in all aspects of nursery life, from teaching daily and curriculum planning to lead trips and helping with meal times.


She has a special interest in Early Years Dental Hygiene and is an advocate for the prevention of poor oral health by starting education early. She is an expert on the topic and has even spoken in the Houses of Parliament on the importance of this (2019).


Harriet has also completed a programme of study with Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford (2020) to further her education as well as all of her nursery roles and duties.

Carly

Carly Wray

Job Title: Area Manager Joined: 2017

Carly has been the Manager of Seahorse Nursery since joining the team in 2017, after gaining years of experience and training since starting her career in the early years of 2011. She received her degree in BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Education from the University of Roehampton and continues to take part in training every year on a range of different topics and is especially knowledgeable in Safeguarding and Health and Safety Practice.


Carly is involved in all aspects of nursery life, and although she is primarily office-based, you can often find her in the classroom teaching, helping with meal times, and getting involved in a wide variety of activities.
