For many years, Hurlingham Prep School in Putney Bridge Road has provided a first-class education for pupils aged 4 to 11 at the main Hurlingham site on the Putney Bridge Road. They are delighted that they are now able to provide families with the option of provision for children aged 2 to 4 in their Nursery in Gwendolen Avenue.

Children may join at any time after their second birthday, and there is a guaranteed offer of a place at the main school for all nursery pupils.

Children learn through a combination of teacher-initiated and child-led activities and, of course, play! In addition to the nursery-based provision, all pupils in the Pre-School are also able to spend one day a week at Forest School on Wimbledon Common.

In addition to the 34 weeks of academic term time there is also the option of an additional 16 weeks of ad hoc holiday club. The Early Bird option allows for a 7.45am drop off and pupils are also able to stay to Tea Club until 6pm.

I first visited Hurlingham Nursery in November 2021 and my only regret is not starting our daughter there sooner. Due to various circumstances affecting our family's living location, we couldn't move to the area and settle our daughter into Hurlingham Nursery till April 2023. I cringe now when thinking
about the extra year we put up with substandard childcare at our daughter's previous nursery. The Hurlingham Nursery setting is quiet and calm, with beautiful little rooms brimming with happy, engaged children. The interior is bright and light, with lovely colours, soft music playing and children's artwork everywhere. Two outside play areas allow for fun and fresh air on sunny days, and the internal areas are equipped with fantastic facilities - including the use of the main church building for dance and exercise, and a huge internal slide! The staff and teachers are outstanding; caring, supportive and sympathetic to each family's needs. It is a truly exceptional place.

We love Hurlingham Nursery! Both our children went/go there and we have found it to be an exceptional place. The staff are all highly qualified, experienced, nurturing, and kind. They all fully appreciate the anxieties and concerns parents with young children might have and are always supportive towards
both the children and parents. The curriculum is creative and children-focused. As a bonus they offer extended hours and holiday clubs for families who need them. We cannot recommend it more highly.

A superb setting where children are cared for and educated with equal importance. The range of activities and facilities on offer is first class. The flexibility that the nursery offer in terms of all day or wrap around care is life saving. Couldn’t recommend highly enough.

Hurlingham Nursery is a wonderfully warm, nurturing learning environment. The staff are excellent - so engaging and enthusiastic. The vast array of activities on offer e.g sport, languages, dance and yoga. In addition to maths and phonics taught in a fun way, gives children an all-around learning experience
and provides such a rich early education. My daughter absolutely loves it.

I have been so impressed with Hurlingham Nursery School. My daughter started just before lockdown and the nursery have been absolutely marvellous in terms of how they have nurtured and cared for the children throughout this tricky period. The first thing my daughter says on weekdays when she wakes up
is 'nursery'! To say she absolutely loves every minute is an understatement. I cannot emphasise how much her learning has come on since she started. Her speech has improved beyond recognition but so has her imaginative play, her counting and her reading. We also get demonstrations of the yoga right before bathtime. She loves it, and we love it - a very special place!

Whenever I collect my Grandaughter, I am extremely impressed with the warm and nurturing environment. My granddaughter always has a smile on her face at pick and gives a happy goodbye to all the staff. I am thrilled that my granddaughter has begun her education at such an outstanding nursery school.

The staff at Hurlingham Nursery School are very caring towards the children, and they are passionate about creating an environment for the children to learn through play. My daughters both love/loved the nursery and all of the activities they took part in. Most notably Forest School, karate, drama and

Our son has been at Hurlingham Nursery School since February 2018. He absolutely loves being here. All the children at the nursery appear cheerful and happy all the time. This is due to the wonderful teachers and teaching assistants who are always happy, caring and respectful towards the children. Our
son walks into the nursery happy and confident. As a parent, this offers me reassurance that he is going to be happy and looked after. He has clear affection and has bonded well with his teacher/keyworker. I have no reservations about leaving my son in the care of Hurlingham Nursery School and would recommend to other families. My 2 girls love going to Hurlingham Nursery School.
When arriving at school they receive a warm welcome from the headmistress who knows all names by heart. The classrooms all small and they receive a lot of attention from their 2 teachers each.
They are encouraged to be independent very early on by
letting them choose their activity as well as visiting other areas of the school. The school is very inclusive and has been flexible regarding holiday clubs. I would strongly recommend it.

I have been hugely passionate about working with young children and this made my decision to qualify as a Montessori Teacher. I have been working in the Hurlingham Nursery for 14years and through this time my two children attended this Nursery and still have many fond memories of it. I’m passionate about the children’s well-being, happiness and learning and I have spent the majority of my teaching career working with children in this wonderful phase. I’m trained in mindfulness and music which I share with school and children as part of my daily routine while teaching. I believe that simple mindfulness practices are essential learning for our children, who are growing up in a turbulent world. They can help kids release anxiety, improve their ability to focus, and develop compassion and empathy for others. What more valuable skills can we give them?
