For many years, Hurlingham Prep School in Putney Bridge Road has provided a first-class education for pupils aged 4 to 11 at the main Hurlingham site on the Putney Bridge Road. They are delighted that they are now able to provide families with the option of provision for children aged 2 to 4 in their Nursery in Gwendolen Avenue.

Children may join at any time after their second birthday, and there is a guaranteed offer of a place at the main school for all nursery pupils.

Children learn through a combination of teacher-initiated and child-led activities and, of course, play! In addition to the nursery-based provision, all pupils in the Pre-School are also able to spend one day a week at Forest School on Wimbledon Common.

In addition to the 34 weeks of academic term time there is also the option of an additional 16 weeks of ad hoc holiday club. The Early Bird option allows for a 7.45am drop off and pupils are also able to stay to Tea Club until 6pm.

Our son has been attending Hurlingham Nursery since Sept 2024. From his perspective I think the nursery has really supported him in his overall growth, learning through play and the way the teachers instilled confidence and curiosity in our child is amazing. From a parents perspective the teachers
are fantastic, responsive to questions and brilliant to deal with. Would highly recommend the nursery and the environment the teachers have created here.

Hurlingham Nursery is absolutely wonderful; I cannot recommend it more highly. The nursery building itself is stunning, decorated in a calming way, but with little humorous touches around the place. The headmaster is always there to welcome each child by name, with uplifting music playing in the mornings,
which sets a great tone for the day. The teaching and parent-staff communication is first rate, and they put so much thought and care into every school trip and expedition. The art exhibition, which every class had the chance to be part of in summer term, was a massive highlight too! They have been very considerate about all transition phases e.g. dropping a nap, moving classes, friends leaving etc.

Hurlingham is a forward thinking, nurturing and friendly nursery. I can see that it is well managed, and staff members seem happy. There is a strong emphasis on the children's future mental health, as well as academic success. There is a wonderful, enriching array of weekly activities such as yoga,
music and mindfulness, forest school and gymnastics for the preschool year. The children are engaged and enthused and the environment is calm. I witness this when I go into the nursery to drop off and pick up and also when I am sent lovely photos and videos of my child, weekly. Parents are also invited in for special events such as a morning art drop in. The footprint of the nursery is not huge but children are taken out to two play areas and take part in forest school sessions. The nursery seeks out parent feedback and implements change when beneficial. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it, and will be sending my youngest child there too!

My child has been attending Hurlingham Nursery for the past year, and I have seen a remarkable transformation in his social skills during this time. He has developed a newfound ability to engage with children of his own age, as well as with older peers, which is truly heartwarming to witness. Every
morning, he looks forward to going to nursery, eagerly anticipating the time he gets to spend with his friends and the dedicated teaching staff who nurture his curiosity. The variety of activities offered at the nursery has played a significant role in his development. He loves participating in different learning experiences, from engaging in hands-on projects to exploring creative outlets through playing, singing, and dancing. The atmosphere is vibrant and engaging, allowing him to express himself freely. As parents, we feel incredibly grateful for the positive impact the nursery has had on our child's growth. Hurlingham really is a special nursery, where our 2-year-old son is thriving. The staff are extremely dedicated, energetic, creative, kind and supportive. The nursery is very well run by the head teacher and his team. The staff all seem genuinely happy. Parental feedback is encouraged and taken on board,
to make the nursery even better. Family participation is a big part of Hurlingham. This term alone, there's been a grandparent's tea party, card-making mornings, mindfulness and reflection workshops for parents, a special assembly as well as a wonderful Nativity show last. This coming Wednesday a trip to the theatre is planned, which I'm sure the children will love. This term having listened to feedback, they've brought in Forest School at the nursery, which has been a real hit. The early bird, afterschool club and holiday club are also fantastic and great for supporting working parents. We're so happy at Hurlingham!

My son was at Hurlingham nursery for 3 years. I watched him flourish and thrive every passing day. From the moment you walk in the doors, you can feel the love and warmth that emanates throughout the nursery. Every teacher is so incredibly supportive and kind and the head of nursery has brought such

The manager and his team are exceptional! It was phenomenal to see my son develop and progress while he was at Hurlingham Nursery. School trips, weekly forest school and the events to also bring parents on the learning journey were particularly impressive.

What a nurturing and loving nursery!
The difference between Hurlingham Nursery and others is stark. My older daughter attended a different nursery, and the comparison highlights just how exceptional Hurlingham Nursery is. You won't find a friendlier or more nurturing environment anywhere else.

Drop-off and pick-up times at Hurlingham are always exciting for our granddaughter. She is always met by a cheerful staff member before she goes into the school, greeted by name and welcomed into the school. The same happens each night when she is picked up. All staff encounters have been positive,
caring and uplifting for our granddaughter. Both of her teachers are cheerful and energetic and bring out the best in her. Daily interaction with her teachers helps us to understand the kind of day she has had as they share the day's activities with me. I would highly recommend this school.

From the moment my daughter entered her classroom, she was happy and remains so 2 years later.
She has blossomed in every way and looks forward to every day.
The staff are incredible and I can't rave about it enough.
Nurturing, loving and educational and has made such wonderful friendships as

I am a mum of a boy, (I knew the nursery a few years ago when I was a nanny), but I had a feeling when I visited it and I am very happy with my decision. All the staff are very kind, patient with kids, very friendly, with a lot of experience so for me is really important. All the staff are not changing
to other nurseries (it’s very common in other nurseries that I visited), so I think that it’s very really important for kids too. I am so happy with the nursery and all the staff, they are like a family. My son is so happy there, he never cries and he always wants to stay more time. Thanks so much for all your work team!

I’ve never met a more wonderful group of teachers, I honestly feel like my child is loved and nurtured daily. I have never worried for a second.
The nursery team lead by the incredible head of nursery always goes above and beyond and makes daily learning fun and exciting.
I only wish my daughter had

We have had two children move through the nursery and both have thrived there. It is a wonderful place and I recommend it without reservation. The head and deputy head lead a committed team of really kind, experienced and passionate teachers and staff, each of whom takes an interest in every single
child. The staff are constantly looking for ways to develop and enhance the nursery experience for the benefit of children and parents alike and I am consistently impressed. The inclusion of Forest School in the pre-school year is also a wonderful bonus. Bravo Hurlingham! We will miss you!

I have been hugely passionate about working with young children and this made my decision to qualify as a Montessori Teacher. I have been working in the Hurlingham Nursery for 14years and through this time my two children attended this Nursery and still have many fond memories of it. I’m passionate about the children’s well-being, happiness and learning and I have spent the majority of my teaching career working with children in this wonderful phase. I’m trained in mindfulness and music which I share with school and children as part of my daily routine while teaching. I believe that simple mindfulness practices are essential learning for our children, who are growing up in a turbulent world. They can help kids release anxiety, improve their ability to focus, and develop compassion and empathy for others. What more valuable skills can we give them?
