Muddy Boots Nursery (Acomb)

Muddy boots in acomb are fantastic! My son is very shy, does not like to leave me, will not drink out of anything other than his bottle, since he started in nursery in the middle of September he has become so so much better! The staff are absolutely fantastic. They have gotten him to drink out of a cup, he has the best days there! He goes in so happy and comes out even happier! He eats so much more now and honestly can not thank them enough!! X

My baby joined Muddy Boots when she was just 9 months old. All the staff are so caring and considerate. I feel they really go above and beyond to care for the children. My little girl loves going there, she's made so many friends, including the staff! I would (and have) recommend Muddy Boots to friends & family

I have had my kids at Muddy Boots since 2023 and my experience has been incredibly positive! In the first two rooms particularly (baby and toddler), my children have been so nurtured and so well cared for! The key workers have known exactly what my children's needs are and they work so hard for the children to feel comfortable and confident. They are really intentional about the children's focus weeks and really seek to help the children grow and thrive! I can't say enough positive about all the key workers that we've had and they have become like friends! Communication is excellent and if my child is having a tough day, they are in close contact with me, which I really appreciate! The administration is lovely and have always tried to accommodate our needs! The children are well fed and nappy changes are really regular! The third room that my child transitioned into maybe felt slightly less organised and a little more overstimulating but overall my whole experience has been very good!

I'm mum AV and RV, who have recently started at Muddy Boots Acomb as part of the after-school club.

Before Muddy Boots, they were with an amazing childminder, but it was becoming quite tiring for them as they had to get the bus from school. This was especially difficult on cold and rainy days. They would often ask us not to send them anymore, which unfortunately wasn't really an option for us because of work.

Since starting at Muddy Boots, the difference has been so noticeable. They are genuinely happy on the days they know they're going there after school - in fact, they never want to leave! They're constantly asking if they can go more days during the week, they absolutely love the food, and they talk about all the activities they get to do.

The staff are amazing, and as parents, we feel completely reassured knowing they are somewhere safe, happy and well looked after.

We honestly feel like we made the right choice for our family.

We changed nursery in September 2025 to Muddy boots (as we're not happy with the initially setting). Muddy boots has been everything we wished for and more. My child has thrived and thoroughly enjoyed her time. The staff are great and communication good

Excellent nursery in all aspects, staff go above and beyond for children to ensure their needs and interests are catered for. I am always confident my child is in the best place possible when he's there.

Our son has been here since he was 1, he is now 6 and attends after school club! Fantastic nursery, all the staff are lovely, they do such great activities with the kids in nursery all the way to holiday club. The facilities are good and theres always lots of pictures and updates on the app

I would choose this place over and over again

The key workers are fantastic and care deeply about the children they look after. The meals are always good for the children. Lots of great activities and I think it is good that the children go outside as often as they can.

The key workers work great with my son his development has come along strides while he's been in the innovators. He's made lots of close bonds. We are very happy and he enjoys everday. He is a picky eater so does struggle with meal but extra snack will alway be accepted.

My daughter has attended after school wrap around care at Muddy Boots in Acomb since April 2026. The staff are always very warm and friendly and have been so accommodating of her food intolerance, my daughter always comes home raving about the food she's had and really enjoys it. The staff carry out different activities with the children daily but there is also opportunity for free play/downtime for the children. Would really highly recommend Muddy Boots as a provider.

We've been really happy since sending our son to muddy boots this year. We particularly enjoy how organised and slick the organisation is, we feel comfortable leaving our son there, he has a great time and we enjoy hearing all about his day at handover.

We have been using Muddy Boots Acomb for almost 7 years (I have 3 children) and highly recommend the nursery. My 2 year old is currently in the investigators room and my older children attend holiday clubs in Pioneers. As with all nurseries it is the practitioners that make it and the practioners here are amazing. Always friendly, supportive, answer questions just lovely people. Many of the staff have been here for a number of years which is great for consistency for the children too.

We relocated to York in January so moving to a new nursery was a very big life change for my 4 year old. However the staff at Muddy Boots were brilliant. Her key worker Rach went absolutely above and beyond to help her adjust and deal with her sadness around leaving her old friends behind. The facilities at Muddy Boots Acomb are lovely. The building is light and airy and the outdoor space is brilliant. My daughter is outside so much and absolutely loves it. She particularly loves tent school and is enjoying all the transition to school activities. She's been very happy there, even after such a short time

A lovely nursery setting. My little one started at 9 months and has been thriving socially. Both the discoverers and investigators rooms have been great. The team supported my little one during a period of separation anxiety and managed it very well. They put special measures in place until she felt settled again.

Fantastic nursery. Our child was 18months when we requested a space. We had been trying to settle him with a childminder, but he was really unhappy being away from family members. It took a while to settle him, but the staff have been really supportive and respectful of our needs as a family. We've been able to take it at his pace. Communication is great, staff are lovely, genuinely kind and passionate about seeing children thrive in their setting. We love the outdoors/indoors flow and they're often doing creative activities that follow the interests of the children. We're really happy with the provision.

I honestly can't recommend muddy boots enough. All the staff are amazing and my daughter thoroughly enjoys it. Her confidence has really grown since going. She expecially loves tent school and all the activities they do.
