We relocated to York in January so moving to a new nursery was a very big life change for my 4 year old. However the staff at Muddy Boots were brilliant. Her key worker Rach went absolutely above and beyond to help her adjust and deal with her sadness around leaving her old friends behind. The facilities at Muddy Boots Acomb are lovely. The building is light and airy and the outdoor space is brilliant. My daughter is outside so much and absolutely loves it. She particularly loves tent school and is enjoying all the transition to school activities. She's been very happy there, even after such a short time
A lovely nursery setting. My little one started at 9 months and has been thriving socially. Both the discoverers and investigators rooms have been great. The team supported my little one during a period of separation anxiety and managed it very well. They put special measures in place until she felt settled again.
Fantastic nursery. Our child was 18months when we requested a space. We had been trying to settle him with a childminder, but he was really unhappy being away from family members. It took a while to settle him, but the staff have been really supportive and respectful of our needs as a family. We've been able to take it at his pace. Communication is great, staff are lovely, genuinely kind and passionate about seeing children thrive in their setting. We love the outdoors/indoors flow and they're often doing creative activities that follow the interests of the children. We're really happy with the provision.
I honestly can't recommend muddy boots enough. All the staff are amazing and my daughter thoroughly enjoys it. Her confidence has really grown since going. She expecially loves tent school and all the activities they do.
We currently have 3 children in muddy boots and couldn't be happier. One of our children is SEND and the care she receives, including 1 - 1 is excellent. Our children love nursery so much that they often ask us on days that they aren't in if they can go.
My daughter joined Muddy Boots at 9 months old. Her key workers Libby and Millie were amazing at getting her settled and giving her cuddles. When she moved to investigators, her transition was smooth and she settled in well and it wasn't long before the team fell in love with her sassy behaviour and funny laughs. Her key worker Sammy has been amazing at helping her to grow and develop and Ms language, skills and character have flourished. M has recently moved into trailblazers with another great set of transition sessions and she is loving the new independence she now has in her new room. Muddy Boots as a whole have been amazing at caring and loving M and it's easy to see how much M loves going to nursery.
We are always so impressed by the care and dedication demonstrated by the team at Muddy Boots, ranging from the team in the room to the staff in the office.
Our son's key worker (Ash) is exceptional at her job, we value her so highly. She has always taken the time to know and understand my son. She is especially tuned in to any big changes in his life, like having a new sibling, and has designed focus weeks talking about feelings and family to help him process this huge change in his life.
The rest of the team in my son's room are a big part of his life too! He often comes home singing funny songs or telling us about creative play/activities he's done with them. I can honestly say that being at muddy boots has enriched his life.
The office staff are warm and supportive. Despite being slightly removed from the 'front line' of caring for the kids in the rooms, it's clear they still have the kids' (and families') needs at the core of what they do.
Toni is exceptional. She has been nothing but supportive and bent over backwards to help N get settled. We're so grateful for all she does to make N fee settled, safe and at home. Libby is also brilliant! What a team! N has connected so well with her and Libby makes N feel safe and makes a fun and caring atmosphere. We're so grateful to have them both for R and N. The whole team in Discoverers make us feel really confident that N is cared for and supported even though she's been so unsettled.
Since F has joined it is clear that every day has been filled with rich, exciting and varied learning opportunities. When we go in to drop him off or pick him up, all of the staff and Zita in particular can't wait to tell us what they have planned or what the kids have been doing and I love it! The enthusiasm is so heart warming and exciting and it gives us ideas of games to play with F in the bath before bed or over the weekend to continue his learning. I always look forward to hearing what wild and wonderful things are going on!
My experience with acomb muddy boots has been amazing with all three of my children my first started there in January 2020. The staff have all been welcoming and lovely and very caring and supportive. My children were all very different as are most my first started there when he was 2 and a half and couldn't talk and they brought him on so much. My second has selective mutism and they were amazing and so helpful they were the ones who noticed that it was selective mutism and helped us so much and my third was very chatty and independent and they all settled so well. I was so sad that our journey with muddy boots had ended. I would always recommend them.
I returned to work full time when my daughter was 11-months-old, and when asked if I get guilty about sending her to the nursery, I could safely say "no"! It's obvious the staff all care and pays attention to the kids; they've built a great relationship over the last six months and always have something nice to say at home time! They've always got activities on the go; it's lovely getting photos and updates on the new app, and the office staff are so helpful and understanding of any problem. It's definitely a great fit for us, we're so glad we picked here!
My daughter has been attending Muddy Boots for around four months now and it's lovely to see how much she enjoys going. The staff are always friendly, approachable and caring towards my daughter's wellbeing and development. The communication both at handover time and generally via newsletters and updates from the nursery is excellent, so can't fault it at all really! As a parent, it's critical that I feel my daughter is safe and being well cared for whilst I need to be at work and it's very reassuring not to have any concerns at all with Muddy Boots.
My daughter loves nursery. The staff know her so well and I get a comprehensive handover each day. Staff really seems to love their job and are so approachable. Nothing is ever too much trouble. I receive regular emails from the nursery about any changes and what activities the children are doing. I really can't think of a negative thing to say!
I continue to be very pleased that I chose for my son to go to Muddy Boots. He looks forward to each day he is there, arriving with a smile and leaving with many stories to tell me on our journey home. The staff are kind, caring and genuine and ensure each child gets the most from their day. Communication between nursery and home is excellent, with regular newsletters and emails, and staff are always available if you have a question or query. My son continues to make progress and it’s wonderful to hear all the lovely, fun, activities they get up to. I especially love the ethos - enjoying nature, getting messy, creating and imagining.
