My daughter has attended WHS Nursery since 2023, and the difference compared to our previous nursery has been remarkable. After experiencing genuine concerns elsewhere, it has been a relief and a joy to watch my daughter truly flourish here. Her confidence, wellbeing, and personal development have grown
enormously, which I strongly attribute to the caring, attentive, and hardworking staff.
WHS Nursery offers an excellent range of enriching activities, including dance, forest school, French, sports, and music, alongside community visits to the local library and an annual Christmas visit to the local nursing home. Maths and phonics are thoughtfully woven into the curriculum through play-based learning, making education both engaging and effective. We have 2 annual parent/staff meetings and if any issues arise in-between we're encouraged to get in touch. I couldn't be happier with our choice and I would highly recommend the nursery to parents seeking a new nursery.
Reply from Michelle Kimberley, Manager at Westbury House NurseryThank you for your review and comments. It is lovely being part of the school community where we can access a broad range of additional Professional support, enhancing our curriculum and opportunities for all children who attend.

Incredible nursery. The staff team are all highly skilled and lovely to deal with. They provide exactly the right balance of care and learning and are clearly passionate about what they do. There's is a rich early years curriculum which clearly benefits from being attached to the school, including gymnastics,
multisports, music, French and forest school. Plus dance for a small extra fee. The communication is also excellent and any concerns are dealt with promptly. My son was incredibly well prepared for starting school and my daughter loves going in every day.

Things this nursery does well:
1) instilling good, kind values e.g. sharing, caring and empathy
2) encouraging creativity and confidence
3) teaching respect for rules and order
4) teaching good manners, polite communication, importance of turn taking.

Things this nursery doesn't do well:
1)

meals don't meet needs of special diets though lots of fresh fruit
2) outdoor space is very limited and, after repeated postponement, forest school has failed to launch this term at all
3) management is disorganised (miscalculated fees, delayed replies to email, cancelled appointments at late notice)
4) my child spent an afternoon with their own faeces visibly smeared on the outside of their trousers and on their white socks and shoes. I saw and smelt it immediately upon pick up but staff hadn't notice it. //

I find it strange that parents aren't
allowed into the nursery but have to drop off/pick up at the main door. I would like to see the everyday environment my child spends their time in.

Reply from Michelle Kimberley, Manager at Westbury House NurseryThank you for taking the time to send us the review of your experience. We take all feedback very seriously and apologise that you feel this way and you have had a negative experience.
Our aim is to provide the best possible environment for all children. We take pride in our nurturing and educational setting within a small Prep School. The site is suitable for the capacity of the Nursery and School, of which would have been seen during the enrolment and tour process. We are fortunate to have an on site Chef and catering team who meet the EY nutritional guidelines and are reviewed termly with the Parent Committee, the menus are available and shared with all families during the enrolment process.
We don't have a record of any formal complaints made by yourself, I would be very happy to arrange a meeting with myself and the Senior Leadership Team to further discuss.
Thank you again for your time.

My granddaughter loves going to nursery! She learns so much and is constantly challenged with the activities available for her. She loves the adults that work with her. She is encouraged to be polite, caring and kind.

Our son adores going to Westbury House and we've been delighted with his progress since he started there just after his second birthday. The nursery is extremely well-managed by the manager and the rest of the staff are exceptional too, running a wide range of activities alongside the learning curriculum.

My son enjoys going to the nursery. He moved when he was 2 years 8 months and had a very smooth transition from his previous nursery. Communication between management, teachers and parents is frequent and feedback is often sought and responded. They learn French, forest school, dance class etc which
helps overall 3-4 year old development. Overall, highly recommended and will definitely send my second child along as well.

Generally, my kid is very happy to go to the school. She seems like she is enjoying most of the activities.
It would be nice to have some good quality photos. Not expecting many photos but few good photos will be great.
Not sure with her lunch as she finds herself really hungry after the school.
Reply from Michelle Kimberley, Manager at Westbury House NurseryThank you for your review. It is important for us to note and we will certainly review and reflect upon your comments. I aim to consistently evaluate our provision and apply parent feedback and suggestions. We have recently reviewed our menu but I am always happy to discuss further new ideas and in particular any specific requirements.

My child started in the nursery in November 2024. The onboarding and settling-in period was very smooth. The nursery manager has been outstanding, and the nursery's communication is very good. Every day my child says "so fun" at pick-up, and asks if he can go back to nursery the next day.

Our little one was welcomed with open arms and effortlessly became part of her group. Her birthday, which happened to be in the first week, was celebrated enthusiastically. The activities, day trips, and food are fantastic. It's been nine months, and she still looks forward to spending time with her
friends at the nursery.

Fantastic nursery. Excellent communication systems in place and the children seem to have a very rich experience. They benefit from being attached to the school. Good amount of focus on the pre-school curriculum, lots of extracurricular activities (dance, multi sports, forest school, music) and the
staff are creative with the different activities they do each week. Would highly recommend it!

Our son has been at Westbury House Nursery since he was two, and it's been a wonderful experience. The care has been excellent, with teachers who clearly love their work. He's made great friends and is always excited to go, often talking about his friends and teachers.
There have been some staff changes,
but the nursery has been very open about these. The new staff have been fantastic, and our son's education hasn't been affected at all.
While other local nurseries are good, Westbury House Nursery is also very cost-effective, which is important for many parents.
We've been so happy with Westbury House Nursery that our daughter, who's nearly two, will be starting there soon. I would strongly recommend Westbury House Nursery to any parent looking for a nurturing place where their child can thrive.
Our son is now moving on to preschool, and thanks to his time at Westbury House Nursery, he's well-prepared for this next step. We're truly grateful for the positive start Westbury House Nursery has given him in his education journey.

I couldn't be happier with the nursery where my son has spent the last two years. The staff are truly amazing and have played a significant role in his development. He's grown so much during his time there, and it's clear that the nurturing environment has been instrumental in his progress. His favorite
lessons are dance class, gymnastics, and multi-sports, they have not only been enjoyable but also beneficial for his overall growth. I'm grateful for the wonderful care and education he's receiving at this nursery!

We have had the best experience sending our 2-year-old to Westbury House! Our child started attending the term time only schedule and it has been a game-changer. They learn in a school-based setting with a mix of focused and free-flow activities. The communication between staff and parents is outstanding.
We have seen our child make reams of progress across all areas of learning. We cannot wait to enrol our youngest when they turn two.

My son loves attending nursery and he has developed so much during his time there. The staff led by the nursery manager is highly committed and genuinely cares for the children. It’s a thriving partnership between the teachers and the parents. He is speaking a lot and his imagination is extraordinary.
The stimulation he gets there is good. I can’t wait for my daughter to join him there.

Westbury nursery is wonderful, my little one has been part of it for a year and a half and has shown good progression and development. He settled into his class quickly and loves it there. All the staff are very friendly and caring. In addition, there is a lovely chef who cooks the childrens' food on
site and provides snack time and tea time food. My little one also enjoys taking part in dance class, particularly the multi-sports activities and gymnastics. Thank you so much for looking after our children well.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.583)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.583) out of 10 for Westbury House Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 15 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.708 for Westbury House Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (140 Excellents x 5) + (26 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 178 Ratings = 4.708
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.875 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westbury House Nursery is based on 15 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 3.875
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 number of registered child places is 8, which has been reached with 15 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
