Acorn Day Nursery (Sharnbrook) is set in the beautiful grounds of Colworth Science Park, and offers a homely atmosphere in which your child can relax and have fun whilst learning and socialising with other children.

The team of qualified, experienced and dedicated staff provide the best possible care for your child within the context of a happy and secure environment.

The nursery is dedicated to providing high-quality care and education for children aged four months to four years, working in partnership with parents to help children learn and develop.

Children have use of a large indoor nursery space, as well as access to a secure and secluded private garden at the back of the nursery. The garden is a wonderful outdoor area with plenty of space to run around and play.

The children not only get to play outdoors in a safe environment, but gain access to a host of new experiences and education about nature and the world around them, the local wildlife, and how the environment changes through the seasons.

Through active playing and exploration, children are learning skills such as problem solving, spatial-awareness and mathematical language.

Their menus have been carefully planned to be both seasonal and nutritionally balanced and tasty ensuring clean plates every time! Their cook prepares all the nursery meals and snacks onsite each day providing nutritionally balanced meals which are both healthy and appetising. Acorn only use fresh, local, ethically sourced produce to create their delicious meal and can accommodate most dietary requirements and have won several awards for their food.

You are very welcome to visit the nursery to see the facilities and meet the staff.

My 3yo & 1yo have been at Acorns since they were both 5months old. The care is excellent. Communication is great, whether face to face, messaging or through app updates.
They bonded really well with their key practitioner but I also love that all the staff regardless of whether they are the designated
practitioner or not are really invested in the children.
They are always coming home with crafts they have made with a really wide and inventive range of materials especially for special occasions eg Mother's Day. They spend a lot of time exploring the outdoors in the garden and wider grounds and have a strong eco friendly ethos which they teach the children.
The menu is healthy with variety of dishes on a 4 week rotation and full changes every term. My 3 year old is far more encouraged to try new things alongside his friends than he is at home!
I'll be really sad when they have to leave to start school, it's been a real foundation and second home for them and I'd be lost without them!

Our daughter goes to Acorns nursery in Sharnbrook, she's in the youngest room and has been absolutely loving her time there. She's settled in so well, and a big part of that is down to the fantastic staff. Everyone we've met has been warm, welcoming, and genuinely invested in the children. It's clear
how much effort they put into creating a nurturing, fun, and reassuring environment each day. We always feel confident that our daughter is in safe and caring hands.
We've also really appreciated the recent updates to the nursery. The new outdoor play area looks brilliant, and we're excited for her to have the chance to explore it. Inside, the refreshed layout works nicely, and we especially love the addition of the sensory room. It feels like a thoughtful space where children can engage and interact in a calm, enclosed environment suited to their needs.

I could not be happier with our experience at this nursery. The staff are incredibly caring, patient and genuinely invested in the children's wellbeing. It's clear they know each child as an individual and the relationships they build are so reassuring.

The environment is wonderful - a perfect mixture

of calm and chaos. One of the things I love the most is how much time they spend outside. Whether it's playing, learning or just fresh air, they make the most of every day and our child absolutely thrives because of it.
There is always so much fun happening, from creative activities to imaginative play, messy play, reading. Our child gets excited to show what they have been doing that day on each pick up. The team listen and want to learn about new developments your child has had and will encourage further learning. We are truly grateful for everything the team does. It's a fantastic nursery and would highly recommend to any family.

We couldn't be happier with our nursery! Our son is in the youngest class (Acorns) and from the very beginning, the nursery employees have all been warm and welcoming. It can be quite a scary transition for a parent but the ladies there were reassuring and understanding. He has settled in really well
and has loved his time there so far, forming a lovely bond with his key worker Connie, who is incredibly warm, enthusiastic and caring. They have a varied and stimulating range of activities for the children, including lots of outdoor and nature-based play, which was important for us. Communication with parents is excellent, we are notified regularly regarding his day, including what he has eaten (their menu is incredible!) and photo updates! They also monitor his learning, development and communication, holding regular meetings with us and encouraging our participation. We honestly feel so lucky to have found such a caring and supportive nursery and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Acorns Day Nursery (Sharnbrook)

My son started in the baby room in September this year, prior to him starting a home visit was carried out which was really great as it gave the opportunity to meet his key worker and felt very personable. His lovely key worker welcomes him at the door in the morning

warmly which has really made his transition easy and he is always happy to go to nursery. During his time there we are kept up to date with what he has eaten and his nap schedule. Regular posts show lots of lovely photos of the wide range of learning experiences that Acorns offer. I was offered a parent meeting after his first few weeks at Acorns and feedback was given around his develop which was helpful. I have been really impressed with the high level of standard of care that he has been given. I would highly recommend this nursery.

My son started at acorns in September and is absolutely thriving. He is exposed to so many experiences which I could never give him myself. The staff are so attentive and caring and I don't have to worry when I drop him off. Their communication is excellent and there is always someone on hand to have
a chat with if you need it. My son has a few allergies and I was very anxious about him starting nursery because of this, however even before he started I was completely put at ease by a phone call from the chef to discuss what he could and couldn't eat! His language is growing by the day and I honestly believe that's down to Acorns.
I love that they have a heavy focus on sustainability and time outdoors - every time I pull a muddy top out of his bag it makes me smile as I know how much fun he's had!

Our daughter adores going to nursery and speaks so fondly of all the team. The children are so incredibly lucky, they are always off on adventures, exploring outside, and the room offers so much to the children and is rich with natural resources. The invitations to play are so well planned around the
children's current interests and are beautifully set out. Creativity and sparking curiosity is at the heart of everything they do, and anything the children make or create is completely independent, boosting their self esteem. My child is always so proud to show us what she has been up to.
Parents are also brought along for all the adventures through lots of daily photos on the app. This is so wonderful to be able to see during the day, as well as being a tool to help create conversations around their day at nursery. Parents are also encouraged to share their happy milestones from home too, as well as being invited in to take part in events within the nursery.

Since starting the nursery in January our son has had such a wonderful experience. It took him a while to settle with drop off's, but staff have been amazing at helping our son settle in to the nursery whilst reassuring us daily. We love the forest schools element. Our son loves being outside and the
staff are great at making it an adventure, being outside in nature and participating in different activities. We couldn't be happier with our choice in the nursery, the kind, caring nature of the staff have helped us all with the transition into nursery. We can't thank Acorns Sharnbrook day nursery enough for all they have done and continue to do!

My son has attended this nursery since September and I honestly couldn't be happier with how well he has settled in, all the staff are fantastic so kind, caring and nurturing, my son is very fond of them all he is always speaking so highly of them. There are lots of different activities and fun things
for the children to do, they have great outdoor space which is full of lots of things for the children to do. The food is very healthy and nutritious even my fussy little boy enjoys the meals and majority of the time eats everything. The nursery setting is located in a lovely place very safe and secure. They have an app in which they do daily updates of what the children are getting up to, what they have eaten etc. Every parents wish is to know their child is in safe hands and being well taken care of and I don't have to think twice about this. Thank you so much to all the staff at Acorn Day Nursery for taking care of my little boy on a daily basis your all doing an amazing job.

I cannot thank all the staff at Acorn enough, specifically those in the Squirells room. They have been understanding and very kind during my daughter's transition into childcare. Nothing was too much trouble and they were fantastic with communication throughout the day. They didn't rush us to increase
our hours and made sure our timetable suited my daughter's progress above all. She is now absolutely thriving, no tears and cannot wait to go to nursery and have fun. 5-star experience, fantastic team!

My daughter has been going to Acorn at Sharnbrook now since May and she's developed so much. The staff are lovely and I love the fact you can keep track of what she has been up to during the day, what has been eaten and just a general overview of her being happy. The staff always respond quickly to
any questions and I love the atmosphere there. They are able to get stuck in, mucky, explore, dance, exercise and have quiet time too. It's a fab place and my eldest went there before as well.

Our son has been at Acorn Nursery in Sharnbrook since April this year and absolutely thrives here.
The fact that he just walks in with no fuss when dropping him makes it a lot easier to go to work for the day.
All the activities indoor and out, it's not surprising.
The amount of updates and pictures
are great to see what he's been up to.
Highly recommend to any parent, especially those with an active child and wanting to be outdoors as much as they can.

Our daughter loves Acorns! She's been going since she was 10 months old and can't wait to get there each morning. The staff always have something exciting and intriguing for the children to do, and we've noticed our daughter's development really benefiting from their carefully curated activities. The
food is nutritious and sometimes they get the children to help prepare some of the snacks and meals. Our daughter's social and physical development has skyrocketed and we love the observations that staff make on the app, categorising which areas of development we're focused on. The communication with the nursery through the app is amazing, we love seeing what they're up to! I'd highly recommend Acorn Day Nursery in Sharnbrook to anyone thinking about enrolling their child. I can't fault the staff and their friendly, attentive attitude towards the children and parents.

My daughter has been at Acorn Nursery in Sharnbrook for four months now. I was so nervous about starting her at nursery, but she has settled in so well, she loves the staff there and walks in with no problems at all. We have seen her confidence grow since she has been there. The way she plays with other
children now I have a lot to thank the staff at Acorn for. When I collect her I can see how much fun she has had, few occasions she hasn't wanted to leave. The staff have been fantastic with her and are continually helping her to develop. The setting and activities they do with the children are great, my daughter loves the outdoors and Acorn at Sharnbrook Forest School is brilliant!

Both of my daughters (6 and 3 years old) have attended Acorn Sharnbrook since they were 6 months old. Both of them have loved their time here and have been so happy. As parents, we have been really impressed with the care they have received and the activities they have been able to engage in. Both of
our girls have really loved the Forest School sessions and I have loved seeing their journey through the app. We especially love the way they do so much cooking, often making their own snacks, and making their own playdoh daily. We really don’t have a bad word to say about Acorn at all. Thank you for all that you do for our girls!

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 10 (9.962) out of 10 for Acorn Day Nursery (Sharnbrook) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 5.0 out of 5 from 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.962 for Acorn Day Nursery (Sharnbrook) is calculated as follows: ( (300 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 312 Ratings = 4.962
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Acorn Day Nursery (Sharnbrook) is based on 26 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 + 0.025 = 4
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 62 number of registered child places is 12.4, which has been reached with 26 Positive reviews. Points = 1
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
