The children make wonderful bonds with their teachers and really learn a lot whilst they’re there! They’re always happy to go to the nursery, and the staff are always friendly and welcoming.
It would be lovely to have more access to a larger outdoor area, but the nursery makes good use of the space they have.

Step Start Mountnessing is an absolutely wonderful nursery! My daughter has been attending since April 2021 for four full days a week, and this is her 2nd nursery, having attended one in another area before. She loves the teachers and looks forward to going every day. The staff are so lovely and attend to each child. The care that is given is of high quality, and my daughter is learning so much! She has excelled immensely, and friends and family comment on how good her knowledge is for her age. The subjects they explore and cover each day are so diverse that not one day is the same, and the joy my daughter has at this nursery is all thanks to the wonderful people working at this nursery! I highly recommend this place!
Would 100% recommend Step Start Mountnessing. My 2 little boys both attend and absolutely love it! The staff are amazing, friendly and so caring with all the children. The famly app is also brilliant keeping me up to date with all the daily activities that they get up to and seeing regular photos. Everyone and everything is absolutely brilliant 24/7!
My son has been at Step Start Mountnessing since he was 10 months old and is 2.5 years now so we have experienced 3 of the 4 rooms. The staff in each and every room over this time have been exceptionally kind, thoughtful and consistently dedicated to my son’s physical, emotional and social development. We are always greeted with warmth and genuine enthusiasm. Each day, new and exciting activities are set up for him to explore. I love the app and feel I can check in on his day and get a sense of how he’s doing. The management are also super and very responsive to any messages or questions. They have been very kind and supportive of my family as I go through some health complications. I am so happy my son attends Step Start. I couldn’t recommend them more. He loves going there every morning and I know he is being looked after incredibly well.
Every day there is a new activity or experience planned, and both my children are really thriving from the variety. They particularly enjoy the outdoor activities.

Step Start is an exceptional nursery where the staff are incredibly caring and supportive. Ever since my son started attending this nursery at 13 months old, he has grown and developed into a delightful boy. The day is packed with various activities, keeping him engaged from start to finish. I am extremely satisfied with the team and grateful for how eager my son is to go to nursery every day. Therefore, I express my heartfelt appreciation to Step Start for their outstanding work.
She has recently made the transition down to the Big Steps room and is already building a fantastic relationship with the team, who are already happily reporting how confidently she enjoys the room and supporting her to develop her skills and relationships!
The senior team, led by the manager, is always so incredibly accommodating and helpful! In short, they are just fantastic, deserving of six stars!
We have always had a great experience with Step Start nursery and all the people working there. My little boy really enjoys his days, full of lots of fun activities and learning. He speaks very highly of his key worker and their colleagues. Whenever myself or my husband pick our son up, we get a quick review of his day, which is always so nice to hear. The app is updated during the day, so I can see what he has been doing, including all meals and nappy changes. Would highly recommend Step Start.
I would highly recommend Step Sart Mountnessing. My son started when he was just under one. He is three now and absolutely loves going every day. All staff are very professional caring and polite. There are always plenty of fun activities planned throughout the day, and parents receive daily photo reports at the end of each day, which is great. Parent stay and play days are great too, as it gives us the opportunity to see where our children spend most of their time as well as meet other parents.
Both my daughter and son attended this nursery, and it is amazing there. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and really go that extra mile to make sure the children are looked after, and all their needs are met. My two children have special needs, and I feel like the nursery has gone above and beyond meeting those needs and supporting us as a family. They have great facilities and resources. I would highly recommend this nursery.
The staff at Step Start are fantastic. They create a warm, relaxed and nurturing environment, and I have continued to be impressed by the level of care my daughter has received since joining the nursery. It’s not easy to leave your child/children with others, but through regular updates, we are assured that she is in a home away from home.
My second child is due to start, and I have no worries that he will settle and love it there just as much as my eldest.
Both my son and daughter have attended this nursery, and both absolutely love being there. The staff do an excellent job of ensuring the children are well looked after and happy and provide a comfortable environment. My children have developed so much since attending the nursery and always seem so happy being there. Both have had allergies and intolerances to food, and the nursery has always been amazing with this ensuring they aren’t given those certain foods. Couldn’t praise this nursery more, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for their little ones.

I’m passionate about creating a warm, welcoming environment where both children and families feel supported from day one. I’ve been part of Step Start for several years and love leading a team that shares the same commitment to care, education, and exploration. Every day is a chance to make a difference, whether it’s supporting our little ones as they grow in confidence or working closely with our team to bring the very best out of each child. I’m all about consistency, quality, and making sure our Step Start values shine through in everything we do.
I’m Level 3 qualified and have been working in childcare for 8 years. It’s a career I’m truly passionate about - there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing children thrive through the support and care we provide every single day. Step Start is such a special place, where every team member is dedicated to creating a warm, friendly environment that helps children feel safe, happy, and ready to learn. I love adapting activities to meet each child’s individual needs, helping them access learning in their own unique way.
I completed my Level 3 in 2018 and have been with Step Start ever since! I always knew I wanted to work with children, and from my very first experiences, I realised how much I enjoyed supporting their early development. What I love most is helping to create a positive first experience of nursery, for both children and their families. Every child is unique, and I’m passionate about making sure they feel happy, confident, and ready to explore. I’m always on the go and love being busy, it’s just part of who I am!
I’m a Level 3 qualified practitioner with a real passion for helping children grow and thrive. I’ve worked with little ones for years and also volunteer as a Beaver Scout Leader, so creating fun, nurturing environments is second nature! I love being part of the amazing team at Step Start; it’s a place full of support, smiles and shared wins. I’m all about messy play, sensory fun, and outdoor adventures, especially when we’re digging in the garden or exploring nature.
I have been working in childcare for many years and am Level 3 qualified. I love working with children and watching them grow and develop every day, it’s so rewarding to be part of their journey. The staff are lovely, welcoming and always supportive, and it’s a pleasure to see the children each day. I am passionate about helping children develop their skills and enjoy all areas of play. I’m also a bubbly person who loves to talk!
I’m a Level 3 qualified practitioner and have been working in nurseries for nearly 5 years. I’ve always been drawn to supporting children’s development - it all started with volunteering at my old primary school. At Step Start, I love how happy and settled the children are, and the welcoming, home-from-home feel makes it such a special place to be. I have a real passion for supporting communication and language, especially through early phonics, and I’m always bringing in a creative twist with art, painting, and a little bit of dancing too!
I started as an apprentice at Step Start, completed my Level 3, and now lead the Big Steps room. I’ve also trained as a Level 3 SENCo, and supporting children with SEND is a real passion of mine. I love helping every child thrive and become the best version of themselves, and there’s nothing better than seeing the pride on their faces when they achieve something new!
