I have two children at Tomberries Nursery, one in the baby room and the other is in preschool. Both started when they were 12 months old and I couldn't be happier with the care, attention, food, education and overall development the nursery have given to my children over the past few years. My two kids
are always so excited to go into nursery, in fact often asking to go to nursery on the weekends, and they come home singing songs, sharing stories and excited about their events of the day , including being excited to practice writing their letters and putting sounds together. I highly recommend, and have recommended to many families, to join Tomberries, it really is such a great nursery!

I would highly recommend Tomberries as a great nursery to send your children to. I have two children there, one in the baby room and another in pre-school. The teachers are really great, extremely caring and knowledgeable and I've seen great development in both children since they started attending
the nursery. The chef is great too! My kids are encouraged to try a variety of foods and I never worry they will go hungry or not enjoy the food - Chef is great! The activities and sensory activities the staff put together are always so stimulating and educational. My wife and I (and our children) will be so sad when our time at Tomberries comes to an end for "big school."

Our 2-year-old-son was in Tomberries for 16 months. All feedback was positive. We were never consulted regarding any potential issues. Out of the blue we received a one month notice of termination of childcare services stating a need for 1:1 support for him. We questioned this with his key worker who
confirmed the recommendation did not come from her and was equally as shocked by it. Another boy had an identical email citing similar needs. The manager took no responsibility and stated we must speak to Accounts (who had sent the email). Our attempts to setup a meeting to better understand the reasoning were denied. We raised a formal complaint to which the response was that they were terminating our nursery services immediately due to a breakdown in trust. We haven't received any feedback about the evaluation or reason behind the need for 1:1 care.
We do not recommend Tomberries as a result of this experience and management’s lack of communication and willingness to consult.

Current Review Score: 7.4 (7.420)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.4 (7.420) out of 10 for Tomberries Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.1 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.3 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.139 for Tomberries Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (22 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (6 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) + (3 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.139
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.281 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tomberries Nursery is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 number of registered child places is 12.8. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.8 = 0.156
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
