Fairlands is a family run, village nursery - based right in the heart of the Village of Shedfield, Hampshire. The nursery is based in an old Victorian school house which has recently (Completed in Jan 2021) been renovated to a high standard. Each room is designed to be warm, welcoming and a home away from home, with new soft furnishings, toys and equipment.

Fairlands has also recently extended its outdoor provision and has a large playground, a field for running and exercise as well as a forest school area at the back of the site. Forest school sessions are run twice a week for all of the nursery's older children with activities which let the children explore their natural environment, learn about the animals and bugs they share the space with and let them take measured risks climbing trees, creating dens and using tools.

They have an online tour and welcome socially distanced in-person show-arounds at specific times during the week.

We really wanted to share our thanks & appreciation to the whole preschool team for taking such amazing care of our son. In particular his key person and the two Forest school leads have played such a huge part in helping our son grow and thrive. His confidence has really grown and seeing him at the
graduation first up with no hesitation was amazing.
The team did a fantastic job turning our sons fear of going to Forest school into being his favorite part! His key person has been such a nurturing support particularly when he started in preschool. They share a lovely bond which I know our son treasures.
I have and will continue to recommend Fairlands to anyone who asks. So a big thank you for making our sons early years such a special experience.
All the best to the whole Fairlands family

Fairlands Nursery has offered a childcare placement that is safe, nurturing and educational. My son has thrived having attended since 8 months old. The faculty ensures that the Nursery is well led and that where there are occasions that require specific attention (i.e. unexpected hospital admissions),
pertinent information is cascaded appropriately to ensure supportive provisions are catered for. The staff ensure that all attending children are well-looked after, encouraged and involved - and that this is facilitated in a personable manner. My daughter is due to attend next month - I would not want her to attend anywhere else! Thank you Fairlands!

Both of my sons(now aged 3 and 7) began at Fairlands from the age of 9 months. As any new mother leaving their children will understand, I didn't want to be apart from them- Fairlands made the transition so easy and with their regular updates and photos of what they were up to in the day it felt like
I was still with them which was such a comfort. With my youngest just about to start school, I am going to miss the team terribly. Their friendly faces and positive demeanor have been a constant moral boost when in the trenches of new parenthood! They were the first to spot slight challenges my eldest faced doing things that other children didn't have and were key in obtaining the right support for him when he was moving up to school so he didn't have to wait years before he got it. All staff are so kind, approachable and understanding and the attention and care they have shown my children has always assured me they have been in the most safest of hands. Top quality daycare!

We couldn't be happier with our choice of nursery for our 14 month old.
He started at 11 months, and we were apprehensive about the transition, as I am sure many parents are. However, the team at Fairlands Day Nursery have been fantastic with our little one, and with us! He absolutely loves his days
at nursery and always seems to have done lots of fun activities. The staff are great at sharing these both on the app used, and at the end of each day.
I would not hesitate to recommend Fairlands to any one, and cannot thank them enough for providing such a wonderful environment for the children.

Fairlands is an amazing place for your little ones to grow. From the outstanding facilities, outdoor space, range of activities, catering are second to none but what makes them really special are the staff. Everyone from management, room leaders and support staff are caring, thoughtful, knowledgeable
and support your child to grow into a well-mannered young people. I feel my children are challenged to stretch their abilities but in a supportive environment allowing them to flourish. I could not think of a better place to trust to look after my children.

Really lovely nursery, had our daughter here since 11 months old and the staff are warm, supportive and welcoming. The activities they offer are lightly structured at her age group 1.5yo and really fun for her, with lots of outdoor play in their various fields/wood/yard. They provide active information
via the app and also don't mind when you check in. The meals here are very good and varied and have had no issues catering to her allergies. Would definitely recommend this nursery.

My child started at Fairlands Day Nursery at around 7 months old. The staff focused on getting to know her and us, building positive relationships with her and helping her to have fun whilst at nursery. She settled quickly and was soon excited to see familiar staff open the door in the mornings. Nursery
staff always have safeguarding in mind and use the app alongside phone calls to track any bumps or bruises, my little one learnt to walk over this period, so we had a few little falls that may have happened or that they have noticed. Staff managed our little one's dairy intolerance very well and supported us whilst we completed the dairy ladder with her. She has now moved up into The Hatchery and is 16 months old. Her transition was well planned and paced at her speed. We are so grateful to her Key Worker in The Nest for such a great start.
We LOVE the outdoor space, Forest School trained practitioners and warm, kind and friendly approach of ALL staff. Highly recommended.

I cannot speak highly enough of Fairlands. They are absolutely fabulous. The staff are brilliant, not only at engaging with the kids but getting them interested in the world. Our son has come home knowing about trees, mushrooms and the seasons. He is happy and cared about.
We had a safeguarding issue
(nobody's fault!) and the safeguarding procedures were superb. I am a social worker and was so impressed with everything they did, and how they communicated.
It is, genuinely, the best nursery we have had anything to do with, and I would recommend it to anyone!

My son joined Fairlands Day Nursery during the pandemic. Despite the difficult time all the staff made you feel welcome and put you at ease, everyone is friendly and kind.
My son loves going to the nursery, he has already made strong friendships and he loves all the different and varied activities
the staff do with him.
I could not be happier with my choice of nursery. Big thank you to all of the girls in the nest and hatchery room for all their hard work and care, and to all the staff at Fairlands Day Nursery. Thank you for always being friendly and reassuring during a difficult time.

We couldn’t be more pleased with Barnkids Fairlands for our son. He joined at 11 months old and the nursery have been brilliant since day one. The communication is great - no question is too random (great as a first-time parent!) and they have gone above and beyond anything, we could have asked for
in a nursery. The staff really are wonderful. We were lucky enough for our son to join just as the renovations were finishing. The baby room is perfect - an amazing selection of wooden toys, plenty of opportunity for open-ended play and lots of messy play too! One of our favourite things about Barnkids Fairlands is the outdoor space. The huge field is perfect for young children and I can’t wait for my son to explore the forest school area as he grows. We are looking at relocating about 30 minutes drive from the area towards the end of this year and have already decided we can’t find a nursery as good in our new area so he will be staying here until he starts school!

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.300)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.300) out of 10 for Fairlands Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Fairlands Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (96 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.3 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fairlands Day Nursery is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 80 number of registered child places is 16. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 16 = 0.5
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
