We have been really impressed by Smiles, our child has settled in amazingly to the Explorers over the past few months. The staff are so friendly and caring, focusing on development in a fun homely way. It's been great to see the children being able to join in with and explore the local community. The nursery are great at trying to include parents with app updates, stay and play events and showing changes to rooms or facilities.
Thank you so much for your feedback, we really do value your views. It is so lovely to hear how happy you are!
My grandson loves going to the nursery, he can't wait to get there and always enjoys himself. From what I have seen from the occasions I picked him up the staff have been more than helpful, and he always seems happy.
Thank you so much for your feedback, it is so lovely to read.
Both of my children have attended Smiles and we have loved it. The staff show great care and attention towards the children, taking an interest in their hobbies or latest obsession and going above and beyond to tailor activities around these. We love that they go out for walks every day, play in the park and visit the residential home, really giving them an understanding of their home village. The garden room is a great space for the children to play where there is no outdoor space, but has plenty of room and activities to give them a new environment to explore. The handovers on picking up are always so thorough and individual which makes you feel that each child is special. We also have noticed a bigger focus more recently on learning, both numbers and letters, to help get the children ready to start school, and really give them a great start to education.
Really friendly staff. My children have had a blast over the years exploring and learning new things. Would recommend to anyone.
We couldn't have asked for a better start to our child's education, and we'll always be thankful to the wonderful team for the care, patience, and dedication they've shown. We highly recommend this nursery to any family looking for a nursery for their little one.
My son has been attending smiles now for almost a year we are so happy with his progress and how he is thriving in every way. His learning and speech since attending has improved so much. Going from a childminder to a nursery we wasn't sure how he would settle but the care given to make him settle in with ease was just brilliant! We love getting The daily updates seeing what he's getting up to and what he's eaten throughout the day! We would highly recommend smiles.
Thank you so much for your review, our settling in process is an area we have been working on we are glad to hear it has been a success. It is also lovely to hear that the new online app is a great success.
This nursery is caring and nurturing. Both of our children can not wait to get into nursery and are very happy there. Any queries we have had as parents have been quickly dealt with/answered and help and support provided when needed. Medical and allergy reviews are done in a timely manner and communication is good. Handovers are done at every pick up and sometimes in our child's room, which is great to see them in their environment - seeing that they are happy. Walks outside of the nursery have helped reinforce valuable life skills that we practice at home. Safeguarding and safety are at the forefront with friendly reminders in regular newsletters, along with important information and dates for the diary. We would highly recommend Smiles to anyone who asks.
Thank you so much for the lovely review you have given to us.
My son has grown so much in confidence and absolutely loves going here. He always come home full of stories about what they have done and has strong bonds with the nursery staff. The pre school in particular have ensured there have been lots of learning opportunities and preparation in being independent. Any issues or support has always been gladly given and I would say we work well together. The management have improved the communication and structure in recent years. I cannot thank the team enough for creating such a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment. My son will miss everyone so much as we transition to primary school!"
Thank you so much for your feedback, we value your thoughts and opinions. It is lovely to hear how your son has grown in confidence and enjoyed his experience with us here at Smiles!
I will be definitely looking to book my second child into Smiles Day Nursery when the time comes. Would highly recommend!
We cannot wait to meet baby and seeing you all in the near future, take care!
Communication is good and if any problems do arise Zoe, the new manager, and Laura are great at sorting them out!
Thank you for your lovely feedback, we have been working hard to provide a variety of new and exciting activities for all children, taking their own personal interests into consideration when developing our environments.
I would highly recommend smiles day nursery. The staff are super friendly and very supportive. They are always happy to help support my child's needs and always go above and beyond for him. They do lots of fun activities with the children including drama tots which my little one loves. They have a lovely garden room with plenty of space to run around.
Thank you for your lovely feedback, we are so glad to hear that you feel supported by our staff team. Drama tots is certainly one of our highlights of the week also!
We love Smiles nursery, I am so glad I chose this nursery for my second child. The staff are friendly and welcoming & make it feel like a home from home. The staff have a great wealth of experience & I feel confident & happy leaving my little girl in their care. They are always adapting their curriculum to tailor to the children's needs and interests & really focus on the child's all round development. My daughter loves her keyworkers almost like an extra set of grandmother's & aunties.
Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback, it is so lovely to hear such wonderful comments about our practitioners and the important role they have in caring for and educating each individual child.
The teams in the room are brilliant and care for each child individually. Our daughter has come on in confidence so much and now engages with so many more people and her language and number skills are incredible. They know what each child is into and adapt the learning to this.
They don't have an outside space, but the garden room means that they can have access to play equipment all year round. They go on walks around the village to engage with the real world and see animals and plants. More than anything I love that they take them to the local library and shop!
Smiles Nursery is brilliant and I would highly recommend it.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments, I am extremely happy to read that you and your child have had a positive experience with our nursery.
My child has been coming to this nursery for 9 months now and I can't fault them. My child is very happy, walks to staff in the morning, never experienced any crying/refusing to go in and always smiles for the staff. My child's learning is coming on greatly and their fine motor skills are excellent I know this is being encouraged and explored in the room, all the staff in any room talk to my child and smile when we are in reception and all seem to genuinely care about the children in their care. Lovely nursery and lovely staff in my experience.
Couldn't be happier with smiles! My eldest attended Smiles in 2021 and they were amazing, I looked around so many settings and was so happy to find Smiles. It really is a home-from-home environment with genuinely committed staff who were always so kind and caring and go the extra mile for both children and parents, my child loved their time at Smiles and so did we, I have now sent my second child to Smiles and have yet again been so happy with the level of care. Both my children excelled here and developed lovely bonds with their key people and the rest of the staff, communication is brilliant too, I get updates from the app and am able to access their online journal with their photos and development. Management have also been brilliant with any questions I've had. Smiles is such a lovely place with the most incredible staff and I can't thank everyone enough.
I reported my child's care to Ofsted after the person in charge of her care decided it was ok to intimidate and physically handle her to make her do as she was asked. This was enough to cause trauma to my child and was seen on CCTV by the manager who acknowledged this happened and then went on to say that although my child was upset, perhaps my child was over sensitive because she was tired and it wasn't his intention to hurt her. However my child claimed and still does, that he scared her with his horrible voice he makes and he hurt her. The nursery manager did apologise and asked me to take her back in so he could explain (not apologise). I said no and she hasn't been back. To summarise our experience, my child was intimidated and physically handled by a member of staff, it was caught on CCTV, it caused trauma and upset and the general response was that my child was over sensitive, tired and didn't show any signs of marking on her skin hours later, so it couldn't have been bad.
We take allegations made against staff extremely seriously and have robust policies in place to protect the safeguarding of children in our care, we do not discriminate against the sex of our staff and follow our strict safe recruitment procedures to ensure they meet our high expectations. 3 Senior...
My son has been going to Smiles for the last year or so and absolutely loves it. The staff are great, the food menu varied and nutritious, and the facilities are good. He has learned so much there and generally seems very happy.
Thank you for sharing your review of Smiles. Reviews enable us to see what parents feel is working well and sometimes what's not working and this is essential for any business to grow. It has been a pleasure to watch your little one grow and develop with us.
We have been so happy with Smiles! The staff know our child so well and have a good connection with him despite the fact he only attends one day a week. He enjoys the imaginative and exciting activities they do. The contact home is good via the app but there is also a comprehensive handover so I know what his day has looked like before we leave. He is encouraged to try new skills and has learnt a lot since starting at Smiles. The staff are friendly, energetic and approachable. We have suggested the nursery to our friends as we’re happy to recommend it.
Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to write us such a lovely review, It means the world to the staff to hear such kind words about the care that they are providing.
Our children absolutely love Smiles and we feel very comfortable with the care they receive there! There is a great balance between play and learning to help our girls develop. Despite not having their own outdoor space, the nursery ensures the kids get plenty of access to the outdoors, including daily walks and day trips. The staff are kind, caring and welcoming and know each child as an individual! Couldn't be happier with a nursery!
Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We love the fact that we have such a lovely village to explore and plan adventures around. The children love going out and this is turn helps us to deliver learning in a fun and exciting way.
They take photographs every week and upload them for us to see and do in-depth observations every two weeks. It's great!
There isn't any outside space, but the children go on walks around the village or to the park every morning, which I think is even better anyway!
In the past two months alone, there have been a few different events, such as bake sales, fancy dress days, photo days, parent and carer stay and plays and more, I'm sure.
Sometimes, it can take quite a while for someone to collect your child from the office in the morning or bring your child to you (rather than being let into the room), but it wouldn't change my overall opinion. I'd recommend it to anyone!

Kelly – Director
With more than 23 years of experience in childcare, Kelly is the visionary founder and Director of Smiles. Her journey into early years began following a successful career in nursing, where her passion for caring for others inspired her to pursue a new direction in childcare. After achieving her Level 3 Early Years qualification, she established her own childminding business and quickly recognised a growing need for high-quality wraparound childcare for local families.
Determined to make a difference, Kelly founded the first Smiles Breakfast and After School Club at Manorfield Primary School in 2006. Driven by her ambition to continually improve outcomes for children, she went on to study Child Psychology at the University of Warwick before expanding Smiles with additional settings at Gilmorton, Holliers Walk (now Hinckley Parks) and St Margaret's, building a trusted reputation for outstanding childcare across the local community.
In 2016, Kelly fulfilled a lifelong ambition by opening Smiles Day Nursery in Sapcote, creating a nurturing environment where children could learn, grow and thrive from their earliest years. This was followed by the opening of Smiles Pre-School at Hinckley Parks, further strengthening the Smiles family and providing a seamless childcare journey from babyhood through to school age.
Working alongside her husband, Simon, Kelly has transformed Smiles from a single school club into a thriving family of childcare settings built on shared values of kindness, quality and community. Together, they remain passionate about continually investing in their settings, their team and the experiences they provide for every child and family.
Despite leading a growing organisation, Kelly's greatest passion has never changed. She loves spending time in the settings, interacting with the children, supporting her teams and seeing first-hand the confidence, friendships and lifelong love of learning that develop through the Smiles experience.
Family has always been at the heart of Smiles. Kelly and Simon's four children have grown up alongside the business, either attending the settings or becoming valued members of the team while gaining their own childcare qualifications. This family ethos continues to shape the warm, welcoming culture that defines Smiles today.
Outside of work, Kelly enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, travelling, hosting family dinners and games nights, and keeping active through running, the gym and her latest passion, paddleboarding.
