Welcoming children aged from six weeks to five years old, Stepping Stones in Stockton Heath offers a welcoming environment for children to play, learn and explore. The nursery was awarded Good by Ofsted in March 2022.

As well as spacious and engaging indoor facilities, the nursery also offers a great outdoors space with resources for children of all ages and stages of development. From musical activities to French lessons, there is something for all children to get involved in.

Our daughter has attended Stepping Stones Day Nursery since January 2024. We couldn't be happier with the setting, from the initial settling in sessions where practitioners were so kind and caring to our daughter and to us as parents during the transition.
The practitioners are so knowledgeable and
ensure developmental needs are met by creating a nurturing and creative environment to thrive.
A special mention to one staff member in particular, for always accommodating our daughters specific allergy requirements and providing healthy and nutritious food. We get specific requests at home for the nursery menu weekly!
I would highly recommend this nursery - a home from home.

I am so pleased with the service and support from Stepping Stones staff at the nursery my key highlights so far.
My son settled in great into toddler then the transition to preschool was very comforting. They support and accommodate my son's interests which is lovely as he has specific interests in
which is adores and is very passionate about. They offer a good variety of food with extra helpings offered to support appetites for growth. The variety of activities in pre-school is excellent allowing them to grow and develop, such as French and also all the creativity such as mud kitchen, visits to the park, supermarkets, baking etc. Finally, the staff are all kind, caring and supportive which is exactly what is needed for your child.

Stepping Stones is a wonderful nursery, we are so glad we found it. The staff are so welcoming and give great detailed feedback about how my daughter is getting on.
The outside spaces have recently been renovated and are now perfect for outdoor fun and learning.
I'm always so impressed by the extra
time, dedication and effort staff go to with activities for the children. There always seem to be so many exciting new things for them to get involved with and learn from, my daughter is always engaged and loves her nursery days.

My daughters love their time at Stepping Stones Nursery. The staff are so lovely, caring and patient with the children and are really committed to encouraging children's confidence and independence. The facilities are great and there is a lovely new outdoor playground area for preschool children. I
like the regular updates on the nursery app which keep parents in the loop with what their child has been up to. Staff always go above and beyond to ensure exciting activities are on offer and always create such a positive and happy environment. Brilliant nursery!

I am very happy with my experience at Stepping Stones Day Nursery Stockton Heath. This is my second child to attend, and both have loved their experience.
The girls are brilliant and my boys learned so much.

Our son has been attending Stepping Stones for just over a year now and he absolutely loves it. It's been so lovely to witness his development over that period of time and that's credit to all the key workers and their hard work and dedication.
The food menu is fantastic. It's great knowing your child
has had healthy meals daily. The outdoor play areas are brilliant too. Both recently refurbished, our son loves using the equipment outside and it's great knowing that children are able to play outside in all weather.
We would highly recommend stepping stones first for your children's learning and development journey.

We couldn't be happier with the care our child receives at Stepping Stones.
From our child's first day, we have felt the warmth and genuine care and we have always felt at ease knowing he is receiving the very best care.
The nursery practitioners have supported us through different developmental
stages, encouraging growth and creativity and helping make transitions easier for our child. It is incredible to see him thrive and develop and the nursery plays a big part in this.

Stepping Stones is a wonderful supportive environment. The staff are lovely and my little boy had formed really strong attachments. The food is great. Stepping Stones is a really great setting that is helping to prepare my son for school. The recent update to the preschool garden is so great as well.

My son is in preschool currently. He has been with Stepping Stones since he was 10 months old and thoroughly enjoys his time there. He has made lasting friendships so far and appears to really connect with his carers.

My daughter absolutely loves Stepping Stones. For a young one who suffers terrible separation anxiety I can't tell you how much of a relief it is when she happily goes into nursery with a smile on her face. The team are all so friendly and accommodating, especially around allergies and skin problems.
Nothing is too much trouble and they'll tailor what she needs at the drop of a hat.
The mixture of activities are fantastic and I love that they take them to the park and to see the ducks when the weather permits. Thank you for all that you do!

Our child is new to the area and had previously been at a different nursery. He slotted in amazingly well and much of this is down to the staff at Stepping Stones. They have been fantastic at helping his integration into a new nursery setting.

My 2 year old started here in September 2024 and there was a very obvious change to her vocabulary, attitude to play, manners and overall communication, all for the better. The staff know every detail of her day from the food she's eaten, time she has slept for, games she has played and overall well-being
on the days she is in for. It is very nerve wracking for a parent when their little one starts nursery but we were so pleased with how easily she took to Stepping Stones Day Nursery and she always looks forward to going back. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the facilities has everything my daughter needs to access different types of provisional play and the children are all lovely too which is a credit to the staffs approach. We would recommend Stepping Stones Stockton Heath to anyone looking to start their child in nursery in the area.

I cannot rate this nursery enough, my son who is now 6 used to attend the nursery and now my one-year-old son does. The staff make me feel so comfortable, my son who now attends absolutely loves going, and smiles every time one of the team opens the doors. He has developed so many skills since starting

Stepping Stones Stockton Heath has gone above and beyond for our child since the day she started there. Our child has made so many friends since starting, and she has come on so much! She talks so much and loves to tell us what she has been doing during the day! She loves all of their visits to the

The staff there are incredible. Our daughter attended there for three years. I was really nervous about trusting someone else, as she spent the first week of her life in an incubator as was four weeks premature. The staff are so caring and patient. My daughter started at Stepping Stones in January this year, she had just turned 1. It was a big adjustment for her at first and she was very unsettled at drop-offs for a good couple of months but I was assured by the staff members in her room that she had settled throughout the day and now I can tell
that she enjoys her days at nursery. It’s a very friendly environment and all the staff know her name even though they aren’t in her room which I feel is a really nice touch. My little girl has really come on in the short time of being at Stepping Stones and I have no doubt this will continue as she moves through each room. We’re very happy with our choice to send her here and look forward to seeing her develop and grow over the next few years.

I have been part of the Stepping Stones team since 2001 and have been the manager at Stockton Heath Nursery for 10 years. I hold an NNEB diploma in nursery nursing along with a level 5 Leadership and Management qualification.


I am passionate about working in the early years and love being part of the journey in these first few years of every child's life, watching them grow and helping them to achieve important developmental milestones.
