Abacus Ark Clapham Junction is a nurturing nursery for children aged 6 months to 5 years, thoughtfully designed to support every stage of early development—from a baby’s very first steps to a confident preschooler ready for school. The nursery is led by an experienced and dedicated Nursery Manager, who personally oversees the baby room to ensure a calm, caring space where the youngest children are gently supported. The leader of the preschool room provides a rich, purposeful learning environment that helps older children gain independence, confidence, and school readiness.

Central to the nursery’s approach is the Abacus Ark First Steps Curriculum, which stands for Focus, Independence, Resilience, Social understanding, and Trustworthiness - a bespoke, child-led programme built around the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), emotional wellbeing, and hands-on discovery. Whether it’s through sensory exploration, storytelling, early literacy, or outdoor adventures, the curriculum nurtures each child’s interests, abilities, and unique personality.

My 2-year-old has just started nursery for the 1st time and is obviously finding the separation from me difficult, but the staff are so warm and welcoming and reassuring (to both my daughter and myself!). My daughter tells me who has read her a story, and who she had cuddles with when she gets sad.
And when she’s telling me, I can see that she’s really alright there and beginning to feel settled. The online learning journal allows us to see her updates - it’s really reassuring to see her happy and stimulated in the classroom. Not just sitting there missing me!

My son has been at Abacus Ark for the last 18 months and has just moved into the pre-school room there. We have nothing but praise for the setting and the staff, and we feel so lucky that we chose it out of many local options. Our son has grown immeasurably in confidence and independence since going,
and it is joyful to hear him excitedly recount the goings-on of his day with his friends. I'm sure there are a lot of similarities between (most!) nurseries, in the type of activities the children do, etc, but what sets Abacus Ark apart for us is the level of passion to provide beyond the basic 'childcare' responsibilities: there is a genuine commitment to each child's overall wellbeing. We love that it is a family-owned and run business (the owner and manager's own children attend!) which I am sure is what helps them successfully build the culture of real community with both parents and local businesses. If you're reading this, don't hesitate to register your little one!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Abacus Ark. My son has been attending the nursery for over 2 years and we are having a wonderful experience at every stage. He's always welcomed and farewelled by professional and caring teachers, all members of the staff know his name, even if they are not in his room.
It's a family-run business, a safe, calm, and friendly atmosphere, many activities like music, rugby, yoga, drama, cooking, and most importantly lots of fun. The small garden is a plus, and they often go to the park. The children learn something new every day, physically, emotionally, they are motivated, understood, and helped to develop friendships and confidence. Parents are kept updated daily through an app, in addition to lovely and colourful newsletters. During the pandemic, Abacus Ark dealt immaculately and supported families through online classes and many other activities and prompt communication. My son is very happy there and so we parents are.

My daughter attended Abacus Ark from age 9 months until she started school in September 2021. She attended full days five days a week. She was always happy at this nursery. The care and education she received was excellent. Activities were very varied including languages, song, sports, and art. The
staff were excellent and always informed us of her learning milestones and gave us tips on things to work on at home. Potty training was a breeze with the help of the teachers. Management were excellent with communication, especially during the pandemic lockdowns. Without the nursery staff and management's hard work and diligence, I don’t know how we would have survived it. My daughter's “graduation” from nursery was a very special day for us and was actually quite sad as it was the end of her time at Abacus Ark which was a place that provided a community to our family for over four years. I could not recommend this nursery more highly.

Both of my daughters attended Abacus Ark, my eldest having recently graduated after being there since she was 8 months old. I can honestly say that her 4 years at nursery helped to shape her into the little girl she is today. Confident, capable, and full of enthusiasm for starting school. I will forever
be grateful to the team at Abacus Ark for making that transition so smooth. The staff all go above and beyond to help the children and are one of the nursery's biggest assets. Over the years my girls have formed wonderful relationships with all of their key teachers which they maintain today. The nursery setting is also lovely. It’s cosy but perfectly set up and the rooms are cleverly placed to help children transition from one to the next. It’s also a fab addition to have outside space in such a central location. Abacus Ark are truly fantastic and I'm so glad my girls had the opportunity to go there!

I can not possibly say enough positive things about Abacus Ark Nursery. As a mother you only want the best for your child and hands down Abacus Ark is the best. Our son feels safe and happy at Abacus Ark Nursery. Which for me is perhaps the most important aspect of nursery - security and well-being. The teachers are affectionate, focused, smart, and thoughtful. He has fun, is learning, and eats well. The children are entertained and their appetite for curiosity
satisfied. The nursery smoothly introduced our boy into potty training and I like the celebration of national and international festivities. The activities are sporty and creative. The owners are hands-on, and have a progressive attitude and maintain a healthy relationship with parents. There are external workshops designed for the parents providing a wide variety of courses ranging from nutrition, sleeping advice, education, schooling, etc. They are continuously looking to build upon what is an impressive child and parent experience. We are very happy with our child’s progress.

We have two daughters (2 and 4) at Abacus Ark and we couldn't be happier with how the nursery has been throughout their time there. From being slowly and lovingly settled in as 1-year-olds, to our oldest graduating into pre-school, Abacus Ark has provided excellent care and early years education to
both girls. Through a hugely tough pandemic, the nursery were compassionate and communicative towards parents. The breadth of activities in the setting is fabulous, and beyond what we would expect from an early year setting. But most importantly, our children are super happy there and can't wait to see their teachers every day.

Abacus Ark is truly an outstanding nursery. My son has been attending the nursery for more than 2.5 years since he turned 1 year old. All the staff who have looked after him are so caring and professional. The care and love the children get from the staff is just incredible. The children learn so much
and there are activities like singing, dancing, yoga, rugby, etc going on. Such a lovely atmosphere at the nursery. My son has so many good friends at the nursery and they have formed such an amazing bond. He knows all the teachers and children in all the other rooms as well. The staff really go the extra mile. We are really extremely lucky to have Abacus Ark within walking distance from our house and Clapham Junction station. The parents get updates and pictures via an app and the teachers give the parents a good summary of the day. All the interactions I had with the team (from the first visit, settling in, finance, management, etc) have simply been brilliant and smooth.

We looked at several nurseries in the area before deciding on Abacus Ark for our daughter, and I could not be happier with our decision. We now have two children at Abacus and both are thriving there. All of the staff know all of the children so well and genuinely care about them. Equally, the children
adore the adults. It has a real family feel to the nursery and through Abacus we have built up a great network of friends in the area. In addition to this, I am confident that my 4-year-old who will be starting school next September will be very well prepared. The teachers at Abacus have supported her to gain confidence; helped her to build strong relationships with her peers and have already started teaching her to read and write in a way that she finds enjoyable. The drama, yoga, rugby, cooking, and multitude of other activities they get to participate in each week are just a bonus!

Our daughter started at Abacus Ark when she was 9 months old and has just graduated at 4 to go to school. We’ve had a fantastic experience with the nursery at every stage. The nursery has some truly wonderful teachers who have learning and development as a priority but are always delivered with fun.
Our daughter has built a strong bond with a number of teachers and still asks to see them. She’s also made lifelong friends. The children do lots of different activities like cooking, drama, and yoga. Our daughter has been encouraged to develop her love of music and dance, imaginative play and she’s also made good progress with key milestones such as her reading and phonics and writing her name. There are also regular trips out. The nursery staff were also great during the pandemic doing their best to continue with weekly online activities and maintain a supportive community feel. This is a lovely nursery with a personal touch and we are sad that our daughter’s time here has ended.

Abacus Ark Nursery is a fantastic place to take your child during the first few years of their development. It has a great ethos, excellent facilities, dedicated staff, and most importantly, a fantastic leadership. This was never more important than during the beginning of the Covid pandemic when Abacus
Ark Nursery was one of the few that really cared about children's welfare. They managed to offer a great and safe service despite the obvious risks. They even pioneered the use of Covid rapid antigen testing for children and staff. I would recommend Abacus Ark Nursery to all parents interested in a "normal" and "fun" approach to child development, so difficult to find nowadays.

Abacus Ark is fantastic. We initially chose the nursery because the children all seemed so incredibly happy and chatty when we visited.
Our daughter started there when she had just turned one, and the staff took huge care to settle her and make her feel happy there.
She has formed exceptional bonds
with several of the staff and the other children and happily skips in to see them. She also chats to us non-stop about her friends and the activities she does at nursery. Judging by the energy we see at pick up/drop off, the other children love it too!


We are thrilled with our decision to send her there.
