St John’s Nursery is a Day Nursery and Forest School, located in the heart of Redhill. The nursery has three playrooms, a 1000 sq foot garden and a kitchen area. The nursery offers breakfast and tea clubs, flexible drop off hours, and Holiday Clubs for those looking for continuity of care, all year round. St John's accepts FEET funding for two-year-olds and three and four-year-old government funding, as well as Working Parent Entitlement funding.

St. John’s Nursery provides a warm, nurturing environment where every child is encouraged to explore, imagine, and grow. The Forest School programme extends that ethos into the natural world, giving children the freedom to learn through play, discovery, and adventure. The nursery provides the opportunity and tools to enable all the children to be secure, happy and become independent. The setting has three SENCos that help support children with additional support.

The nursery is also a member of the Children's Centre advisory board, The Phase Council and also involved in the SEND Commissioners within Surrey County Council. The nursery is a member of the Pre-School Learning Alliance.

Moving from a central London Nursery during term time, we had a few reservations about our child fitting into the new surroundings, but no such problem. Within a short amount of time during her first visit, she was off drawing pictures and interacting with other children. The children and staff were
always very friendly, and although our daughter has now started Reception, she is still talking about the nursery and how much fun she had there.

Daily reports via email were also extremely helpful, informing us of daily activities, food/healthy snacks eaten, and upcoming events. The outdoor area is also nice and big, with different types of areas for play and interaction. We were very fortunate and happy with the opportunity to send our child to St John's nursery. We wish them and the children every success for the future.

My son attends two afternoons a week. He loves it and I really look forward to hearing about his day and what he got up to. The staff are super friendly, approachable and really bond with the children.

They are full of compassion and really encourage my son to be his best.

My son took a little while to settle in and the staff really made an effort with him and now goes in happy and confident!

The communication between parents and staff is fantastic and they really make an effort to get parents involved in the nursery.

I would recommend St. John’s Nursery as myself

and my husband feel that there is so much passion and care for our son and the nursery is a great place for children to achieve and develop in all areas.

My son had never attended a nursery setting before and the first day or so was unsettled and the staff were more than happy for me to stay for a few moments until my son was okay.

Within a week he would run in very excited to play with his new friends and teachers and would excitedly tell me stories

about the day when I collected him.

The staff are so friendly and helpful. I found this especially reassuring as my son has dietary allergies and had just started potty training at home. The staff are incredibly supportive and always check with me if they are unsure about certain foods due to trace amounts of the allergen.

My son often asks me when will he go back to school and see his friends and I have noticed a huge increase in his confidence and knowledge since starting back in September this year.

Such a fantastic group of ladies and a wonderful nursery group I can't wait to see what my youngest son makes of it when he is older!

My son previously attended St Johns Nursery after a bad experience elsewhere. He settled quickly and built a wonderful rapport with his key worker.

My daughter now attends the nursery and we have been so happy with the overall feel of the setting. Staff seem relaxed and happy which tells a huge

amount about the level of care towards the children. My daughter was allocated the same key worker who has built an equally wonderful relationship with her. Keep up the good work St Johns Nursery!

I would like to give St John's 10 out of 10. From the moment I enquired into availability, the admission staff were helpful, informative and very responsive. On the lead up to my son joining, we were invited to a parents welcome evening and met all the staff. My son has now been going to St John's for
some time now and every day he is offered a huge variety of play and learning including a wonderful large wooded adventure garden, with staff that genuinely care about him. I am so pleased we chose this setting and would wholeheartedly recommend it to others.

Staff are fantastic, extremely friendly and so supportive. I chose St John’s due to the outdoor space and from recommendations on the amount of time the children play outside. I would say their outside area is the main area of play. My son has Glue ear and the Nursery has been fantastic with recognising
it and helping me get the help required with his speech and language.

All 3 of my kids have attended St John's Nursery and all have absolutely loved it! My youngest started at 2 and is now in her preschool year. She loves going to play with her friends and teachers and was disappointed at half-term that it was closed!
The nursery has been fantastic for their development
and confidence, all the while being loads of fun. The staff are friendly and helpful and the outside space is AMAZING!

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.316)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.316) out of 10 for St John's Nursery - Redstone Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.983 for St John's Nursery - Redstone Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.983
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.333 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St John's Nursery - Redstone Lodge is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 30 number of registered child places is 6. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 6 = 0.833
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
