At EDG Nursery, children are viewed as capable, curious and creative learners with their own ideas, interests and ways of understanding the world. The nursery provides an inclusive environment where children can build confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging through play, relationships, and first-hand experiences.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, the nursery follows a child-centred, play-based philosophy. Practitioners observe and listen closely to children, using their questions, discoveries and interests to shape activities, projects and learning experiences. Adults work alongside children as co-learners, recognising when to offer guidance, introduce a new challenge or allow an idea to develop independently.
The environment itself plays an important role in learning. Natural materials and open-ended resources encourage children to experiment, collaborate, solve problems and express their ideas in different ways. A dedicated on-site atelier provides space for investigation and creative expression, while the sensory room offers opportunities for sensory exploration and can support children's individual regulation needs.
EDG Nursery celebrates the Reggio Emilia concept of children's 'hundred languages' – the many different ways children communicate, think and learn. Art, movement, music, construction, imaginative play, conversation and mark-making all provide opportunities for children to express themselves and make sense of their experiences.
Strong relationships underpin both care and learning. Practitioners support children's communication, physical development, emotional wellbeing, social confidence and early thinking while helping them form secure relationships and become increasingly independent.

About this price
How funding is applied, how the monthly figure is calculated.More info
Working parents of children aged 9 months to 2 years can usually claim up to 30 funded hours a week. The working-parent hours depend on each parent meeting the minimum earnings rules and earning under £100,000 a year. This nursery stretches funded hours across 52 weeks of the year. You've selected 30 funded hours.
This nursery applies up to 10 funded hours per day, stretched across 52 weeks of the year. With your selected funding, 21.9 hours are covered each week. Hours beyond this, including the early and late parts of the day, are charged at the standard rate.
We work out the total cost across the year and divide by 12, so the figure shown is a smoothed monthly average. In practice, nurseries bill in different ways. Some bill monthly at this average. Others bill weekly, or charge for what happened that week or month, which can vary across the year. Confirm billing details with the nursery when you enquire.

EDG Nursery was a fabulous setting for our daughter who was there from 10 months of age. She adored going to the nursery and made strong connections with all the staff. EDG is a very warm, welcoming and caring nursery and we were always confident that our daughter was being well looked after. The facilities are good, particularly the outside space which can be used all year round regardless of weather though the downstairs rooms could do with a little more natural light. All staff put in exceptional effort including the lovely reception staff and it was a pleasure interacting with them every day. There were lots of changes at the nursery whilst our daughter was there and under new management the nursery is going from strength to strength. Communications/systems could still be improved a little but these are minor points and we would very much recommend EDG.

Beautiful nursery who have welcomed us from the start of viewing. Lots of space and a large garden. Activities allow my son to play freely and learn. Rooms are light and airy and well set up for a child's development. One attraction of the nursery was the yoga and French they offer. Also pre-Covid they arranged outdoor trips and external visitors frequently - we hope that this can be restored in due course. Staff all friendly, welcoming and fill us with confidence. Management supportive and understanding over the Covid time. Our son loves it at EDG and we are very happy we chose it.

We were immediately struck by how caring and attentive the staff are and by the positive and warm learning environment that has been created within the nursery. Being first-time parents when he joined, it was such a relief knowing that our child is in such safe hands and being well looked after. The management are always friendly and happy to talk through any issues parents might have and, given the regular updates we get on our son's development, feel active partners in his learning. During the covid-19 pandemic, the nursery went out of their way to be open and supportive, and we're so grateful for the willingness of all the nursery staff to get EDG open and running again as quickly and safely as possible. We already have our new daughter down to join nursery soon, which is probably the highest praise we can give to them!

My son has been attending the nursery for almost 2 years now and he has been very happy here. Despite some of the issues with previous management and Ofsted rating, we have never had any concerns with the care my son has been given. The current staff are amazing and positive changes of new management in introductory science-based educational exercises has been great. The feel given is fresh and healthy. My son loves the outsourced tennis coach on Wednesdays. All the other children at the nursery are lovely and my son has a great mix of friends there.

My son was in the preschool room from October 2016 until he started school in September 2017. My daughter is now in the preschool room, having also been at the nursery since October 2016. I have seen a lot of change at the nursery and understand the less favourable feedback but must say the new manager is making significant and very visible changes for the better. Much more of a true child-led curriculum, play with natural materials, messy play, more natural play in the garden. Previous issues have been I think with management knowledge and direction, and definitely not with the attention and care of the staff in the rooms. I've always found staff lovely, especially in the preschool room. My children have been happy at Le Nid.

On the one hand, our child seems very happy there. The nursery has a nice garden and there is a lot of time devoted to free play. Some staff are absolutely excellent. However, there is much room for improvement. The nursery has seen very high staff turnover and some staff are struggling with EYFS. My child has attended for 5 months and I continue to be very impressed by the nursery and in particular the dedicated and passionate staff. Everyone from the receptionist onwards is welcoming and seem to be professional and yet relaxed.
I have not experienced such a welcoming atmosphere in any other nurseries,
It is a bright and open building, children make great use of the large outdoor space.
I hope owners and management make efforts to keep staff happy, support them and recruit more people. Happy staff, equally happy children.
Overall facilities are excellent but worth asking staff what new equipment, toys or improvements needed now.
Regular posting up on the reception and room walls of the children's latest materials and learning goals would help busy parents quickly and easily grasp all the wonderful things the children seem to be doing and improve decor.
There is a fantastic app with photos and very informative newsletter.
A great place to be and to visit.

I am the Nursery Manager at EDG Nursery and have over 10 years of experience working within the early years sector. Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to creating nurturing, inclusive, and inspiring environments where children can achieve, belong and thrive, develop confidence, and build a lifelong love of learning.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies (Level 6), which has provided me with a strong foundation in child development, early years pedagogy, leadership, and best practice. Over the years, I have progressed through a variety of roles within early years education, gaining valuable experience in supporting children, families, and staff teams.
I chose to become a Nursery Manager because I wanted to make a lasting difference, not only in the lives of children but also in the lives of the families and educators who support them. I am passionate about creating environments where children feel a true sense of belonging, where families feel valued as partners, and where practitioners are empowered to provide exceptional care and education.
Seeing children grow in confidence, achieve milestones, and develop into happy, capable learners is what continues to inspire me every day. I believe every child deserves the very best start in life and am committed to ensuring children receive high-quality care, meaningful learning experiences, and strong, trusting relationships that place their wellbeing, development, and happiness at the heart of everything we do.
