Pilrig Children's Nursery

Our daughter has settled in really well with the help of kind and friendly staff who have gone our of their way to get to know her, and to support her transition. Communication from management has been and continues to be poor, but the staff are otherwise great.

The core staff were generally very good - very hard working and genuinely caring for the children. They do excellent work. In our experience the nursery was let down by company management - both on-site and regional in the Bright Stars corporation (Pilrig was sold years ago, but the website was never updated). In two years our child had up to around 10 trips outside the nursery gates, all to a park across the road. Months would go by without any outings. Generally, perhaps because of a heavy reliance on agency staff, children had only their room and an outdoor area to play in. There seemed a general lack of structure and planning by managers, with every day just taken as it comes and staff having to cope. Room transitions were poorly explained and conducted, and conversations with management were reassuring at the time but led to very little. Recent managerial room reorganisations of age groups were made without meaningful consultation. We withdrew our child in summer 2026.

I also would recommend installing toilet seats that are appropriate for toddlers in the toilets.

The staff in the baby room are lovely and caring. They were really helpful in helping my son settle in and he loves going there now! Communication is also great - they are very responsive. Very happy with the nursery overall.

Pilrig nursery provides a caring and stimulating environment for my grandchildren. They give me good feedback on the day when I pick up my grandchild and they have some time for me too! My grandchildren is very happy there.

My son is always happy to go to nursery. He loves playing in the garden and always tells me exciting stories about what he does with his friends at nursery! He has been going to Pilrig for the past 3 years. I never had any concerns about leaving him at nursery, I know he's in good hands and well looked after.

We are so happy with our experience of Pilrig Nursery. Our child has been attending for some time now and there has been a hugely noticeable improvement in her confidence and social skills since joining. The staff are very knowledgeable and kind and approach their jobs with genuine warmth and care. They have been very helpful in supporting our child through big milestones like potty training and nap transitions. We have liked how often we receive updates on how our child is doing day-to-day and what activities she has been up to. We also see what she's been eating - the nursery chef makes amazing food! The nursery also has a great outdoor space and if the weather allows, they always have the children outside which is so important. We would highly recommend the nursery. Thank you Pilrig Team!

We have been so happy with our daughter's experience at Pilrig Children's nursery. It's such a warm and welcoming environment, and all the staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. We can always stay up-to-date with our child's activities throughout the day, and feel completely confident she's being looked after really well.

I am very happy with all aspects of the nursery and feel confident leaving my daughter in your care. The only drawback is the lack of one-on-one activities with specific learning goals. Specifically, I would have liked seeing what she's learning with pictures in the journal and receiving themed crafts she has made, even if it's only scribbles. This helps me further develop the theme at home in other languages. So far, I am unaware of any learning themes. Not counting Christmas/Chinese New Year as these don't account forthe majority of her time spent with you.

We're very happy with nursery. The staff are kind and attentive, always ensure our child feels safe and happy. The activities are fun and educational. Our son loves outdoor play. Communication is clear and consistent, we always feel informed about our child's progress.

Lovely staff so kind and helpful had an amazing experience with the nursery! My child loves telling me what she has done at nursery she loves the staff the staff an amazing at helping out if it's a tough morning she always turns her day around thanks to the caring staff!

I like that they include parents in special celebrations and that we know a bit about his day via the app.

Lovely nurturing nursery. The staff genuinely care for the children and make a lovely environment for them. My daughter loves her time at nursery which makes it easy for us to leave her. The chef is brilliant with the children too.
