We are extremely pleased with Banana Moon, St. Albans as a childcare facility for our two year old boy. The nurturing environment has ensured his developmental and emotional needs are met. He has recently successfully transitioned from the baby room to the over two's. My son is very comfortable in his
new surroundings.

Activities are varied within the children's age appropriate rooms and the nursery benefits from a well utilised outdoor space, indoor/outdoor room encouraging the children to be active whatever the weather.

Children are provided with two snacks and two hot, nutritious meals that are varied. These are revised frequently and ensure children the are getting their 5 a day.

Feedback and interaction with staff is at an appropriate level, with daily diaries being discussed on collection, development folders available for us to take home and discussed as parent teacher evenings. I feel that I can access staff when ever I need to if anything arises outside of these times.

Both of my children have attended Banana Moon. They love it. Staff are engaging and the kids love them. You can see their development so much more than another nursery we used to go to.
The food is very good with an in-house chef, so there is plenty to go round if the children want more - which happens
frequently with mine!
Management are very friendly, informative and aware.
You also get daily feedback on the kid's activities for that day which is really helpful.
Would highly recommend Banana Moon to all!

Fantastic nursery. My son loved it here, he's now at school but my daughter still attends. It's bright and spacious for the children and the garden space is great too. The staff are lovely. They are always smiling and having fun with the children as well as teaching them.

I would without hesitation recommend Banana Moon in St Albans to anyone with children looking for daycare. My son has been going for 4 months and adores his time there. The nursery engages him in all sorts of different activities on a day to day basis, offer him kind, warm and compassionate care and
really make him feel at home. My son grows in confidence and ability every day that he spends there.

A wonderful nursery, our daughter loves attending and has learnt so much already. I know she is well cared for there and gets to do lots of activities I would not think of doing at home. She always eats well and they have a lovely menu on rotation. The staff are very caring and always look after my
daughter's needs.

I find my daughter very much enjoys her time at nursery. The staff are very dedicated to her care and learning and are open and friendly. The nursery is always clean and welcoming and has lots of space for play. All the activities planned for my daughter are based around her interests so she is always
keen to take part. All in all I am very happy with the nursery and it's staff team.

We have been looking at our menu's and changing them in order to suit the children's needs and likes and ensuring they have a balanced diet.

My son has been attending Banana Moon for a year now and my daughter has recently started there. They're in different rooms (Under 2s and Over 2s) and they both really enjoy their time there! The staff are all friendly, qualified and caring – they take a genuine interest in each child’s development,
learning and personality. It took our youngest a few weeks to settle in, however the staff were wonderfully attentive and showed a fantastic level of care to her and reassurance to me. They are happy to work together with any specialists that a child may be seeing and they make learning and developing fun for the children and involve parents as much as possible, providing really useful positive feedback about our children’s progress and great suggestions of how we can continue the development at home. The rooms are spacious and clean with lots of age appropriate toys/activities to keep little ones busy and happy. Meals and snacks are all balanced and nutritious, our children are often eating the healthy veggies which they tend to push aside at home! It is a very happy, positive environment overall.

  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.4 out of 5 from 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.933 for Banana Moon Day Nursery St Albans is calculated as follows: ( (112 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.933
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.383 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Banana Moon Day Nursery St Albans is based on 10 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 20 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews, 0.05 Points for the next five Positive Reviews, and finally 0.025 Points for the next ten Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.050, 7th = 0.050, 8th = 0.050, 9th = 0.050, 10th = 0.050, 11th = 0.025, 12th = 0.025, 13th = 0.025, 14th = 0.025, 15th = 0.025, 16th = 0.025, 17th = 0.025, 18th = 0.025, 19th = 0.025, 20th = 0.025) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 + 0.05 = 3.75
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 79 number of registered child places is 15.8. 10 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.8 = 0.633
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
