hdc Newton Abbot provides a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment which provides a perfect start for your child’s learning journey.

The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

The nursery's under 2s space is a safe, cosy, stimulating environment with a home-from-home feel. With the space split into areas, this allows their youngest children to feel comfortable exploring - should it be for some quiet time to explore stories or the rough and tumble of the indoor physical play equipment to help build those all important muscles. The enclosed, outdoor space is accessed daily to ensure the children get the fresh air they need and can explore nature at its best!

They have a wide range of open-ended and natural resources in the toddler room to enable the children to use their imaginations and spark their curiosity, building strong relationships with their peers and the staff. The children’s creativity often leads their play into the nursery's outdoors area, which they access regularly in all weathers - from their delightful mud kitchen to their water wall and large sand area. Messy play is available all day every day, inside and outside and staff encourage all children to get involved should they wish.

Newton Abbot's pre-schoolers have really built up their independence throughout their time at nursery and are actively consulted about the activities they have available each day. The nursery offers more adult-led activities in this room to help the children prepare for their next stage in life - big school!

We love this nursery, it's well run and well managed. I get updates on the app and the staff are all so friendly and caring.
The price includes meals and nappies so you don't have to worry about anything other than dropping your child off to have a good time there.

The staff are always so friendly and greet my child by name every day. We are kept informed via the app which is a great tool for keeping up with my child's day and also the general goings on. My child is always so excited to go to nursery, we wouldn't send them anywhere else.

Very friendly staff and have a great range of activities. My daughter is always happy going to and from nursery. Only downside would be the menu. My child isn't a very good eater and the description regarding how much they ate isn't very specific so I'm always unsure how much and what she has actually

It seems a very friendly and caring nursery my granddaughter enjoys her days there and seems very happy.
She enjoys a wide variety of activities and enjoys the food.
The app is very good and keeps us in touch with everything.

Our granddaughter is well cared for by the team. I know the parents receive regular updates on progress and any areas for development. We are able to see what is planned during each week through the app and email contact and can see what activities the little ones are up to. This helps us to generate
ideas for play too and keep in step with nursery learning and play.

All three grandsons and one granddaughter have spent their early years here (two still attend). They love their time here.
Thank you all.
Has been such a good start to preschool for them all.

Since my little one has been coming here, about two years now, he has developed so much and his confidence has grown. There are always chances for us to be involved, they give updates on what books and activities they are currently reading and doing, so you can continue this at home. They provide updates
every day on what they have been up to which is great. The nursery is so welcoming and all the staff are so friendly and warming, they make your little one part of the family and get them involved, and they really want to help progress in their learning and development. They have lots of time out in the garden exploring and the meals are very varied, fresh and sound delicious!

I highly recommend Humpty Dumpty Newton Abbot. All the staff are friendly, welcoming and caring. I feel that they know my child very well, especially my child’s key worker, and my child talks really positively about her time here! Nothing is too much trouble and any query is always responded to quickly,
no matter how small! The app is great for all communication and it is lovely to read the information and see photos of what my child has been doing each day. The children often go on trips to the local park to get out and about. The optional early start from 7.30am is great to allow for flexibility in getting to work early.

Two of our children started at hdc Newton Abbot in 2019 and our third child is due to start this month. We chose hdc Newton Abbot for a number of reasons for example, the central location and easy drop off and pick up, the opening hours and the facilities and activities available. Our number one reason
for choosing this nursery was their openness and acceptance of our disabled son. He was welcomed wholeheartedly into the nursery, staff attended meetings relating to his care, accepted training from health professionals relating to his needs and adapted activities to ensure he was properly included alongside his friends. We receive regular feedback from staff about our children's progress and development which has been really helpful. Both of our children have been cared for amazingly at hdc Newton Abbot and we did not think twice about enrolling our third son at hdc Newton Abbot too. I would very much recommend hdc Newton Abbot.

We found this nursery when our existing one burnt down. Our son was two at the time and had been settled into his previous nursery for a while, so we were extremely anxious about having to move him. We need not have worried. He was welcomed into hdc Newton Abbot immediately. The staff are warm, caring
and passionate about what they do. We had no trouble settling our son and he is always keen to get through the doors in the morning. Now his little sister has joined too! The manager is always on top of things, often responding late in the evening to my last minute addition requests.

Both my son and daughter have really enjoyed their hdc Newton Abbot experience. They have both always been happy to go into nursery each morning. They enjoy a variety of activities and we have been impressed by the effort that the staff go to to respond to the children’s interests and to develop a range
of different activities around the favoured theme. The staff are always caring, welcoming and attentive. We have found that all the key workers have always made an effort to form a strong bond with our children. We have also found that the preschool room was good preparation for school for our daughter who settled in very easily this September after her time at hdc Newton Abbot.

My daughter has attended hdc Newton Abbot since September 2020 . We viewed other nurseries prior to booking her in at this setting. The staff at hdc Newton Abbot go above and beyond making it the most fabulous and nurturing setting. Children have meals of such variety, walks outside of the setting involving
picnics and games, outdoor play, great adult interaction, messy play, learning through play, friendly staff and excellent communication from the key worker, manager and play workers. A debrief of the child’s day is captured using an app so parents can see what they have been doing, linking play to areas of learning. My daughter thoroughly enjoys hdc Newton Abbot and I would highly recommend.

I am so glad that I chose this nursery for my little one. It is professional, warm and welcoming. My little one enjoys going here and has been going here since she was eight months old, they have a varied menu to cater to all tastes. The care they provide is professional and caring, nothing is too much
trouble. The welfare of the children is their number one priority. They spend time outside getting fresh air and exploring and allow the children to try new things, such as using their senses and in activities. Would definitely recommend this nursery.

Hi! I'm Hannah and I'm the Nursery Manager here at hdc Newton Abbot. I am a qualified Level 3 Early Years Educator and have a Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care.


I have worked in childcare since leaving school and have always known it is a passion of mine, working with children is a very rewarding job, knowing you have been a part of their journey to developing and thriving to their full potential. At hdc Newton Abbot we strive to have a team full of professionals who also have passion and dedication to all the children and families. We aim to create the home from home feeling and welcome all new children into our family.
