Hatherop Castle Nursery is the most wonderful and nurturing place to send your child. My three children went through the nursery and it was all smiles from drop off to pick up.
The friendly teachers and the cosy environment, with outside space to learn, made the perfect place to begin a child’s learning
adventure and I always had peace of mind when dropping off my two-year-old.

Both my boys attended Little Owls Nursery at Hatherop Castle School and had a wonderful time there. They adored all their teachers and enjoyed a variety of activities. They both moved up to Hatherop Castle School and Little Owls prepared them brilliantly for a smooth transition into school life.

Our son absolutely loves coming into nursery! He adores the staff and has so much fun each day. The staff are so kind and feel like family, We often hear of the headmaster coming and joining the kids with activities which my son loves, and he talks about him fondly. The indoor space is organised and
exciting, the outside space includes small animals like guinea pigs. My son loves the hot lunches which always sound delicious and nutritious. My son’s confidence has grown so much and when he tells me what he’s done each day I know I’ve chosen the right setting for him!

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.370)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.370) out of 10 for Hatherop Castle Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 4.861 for Hatherop Castle Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (32 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.861
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 3.509 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hatherop Castle Nursery is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 number of registered child places is 11.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.6 = 0.259
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I am a creative person and love doing arts and crafts activities at home, so working with small children and helping them to create their very own masterpieces is great. I enjoy going for walks in the countryside and visiting my in-laws and family in France during the school holidays. I am now looking forward to starting my own family, after recently getting married, and hope to put my knowledge of little people to the test!

After having my three children, I began working as a teaching assistant and have always loved supporting young children in their early learning. I really enjoy being part of the warm, nurturing team at Hatherop Castle Nursery. My favourite part of the job is sharing stories with the children—especially books by Julia Donaldson—as I believe a love of reading at an early age inspires lifelong learning.
