Leigh Lollipops Nursery has been a cherished part of Leigh Village Hall for over 40 years. Registered with Ofsted on the Early Years' Register, the nursery provides exceptional care for children aged 0 to 5 years. Every child is supported and encouraged throughout their learning journey to reach their full potential.

Nestled in a beautiful rural setting, the Nursery boasts a large hall divided into areas that promote learning and an enclosed garden for outdoor play, offering additional opportunities for children to extend their learning and have fun.

The dedicated team follows the Early Years' Foundation Stage (EYFS), which sets the statutory standards for the learning, development, and care of children from birth to 5 years old. Children learn through play, sometimes led by an adult and sometimes through independent play opportunities.

The Nursery actively prepares children for school by fostering skills such as social eating, toileting, expressing their needs, and dressing/undressing. They also enjoy outings to various places like farms, parks, and local walks.

Outside visitors, including parents, are invited to share their knowledge on various topics, such as pet care, local farming, the fire service, and healthy living. Additionally, peripatetic teachers visit weekly to lead other enriching activities.

    Our fees are competitively set to ensure a sustainable and well-equipped pre-school environment. Fees are charged per hour, with a standard rate of £8.50 per hour (pro rata) for attendance.

  • Funding


    We accept all forms of government Early Years Funding (FEET, 15 hours, and 30 hours) for eligible 18 months, 2, 3, and 4-year-olds. This funding can be used in any combination and can also cover all charges, including Breakfast Club and Lunch Club. Any hours used outside of the funding entitlement will be self-funded and charged accordingly.


    Consumables and Additional Services/Activities Charge


    The level of Early Years Entitlement (EYE) funding for 3 and 4-year-olds (currently £4.87 per hour) is insufficient to cover our essential expenditure on staff salaries, hall hire, insurance, and basic consumables such as milk, art and craft materials, cooking ingredients, wet wipes, tissues, sun cream, printer ink, sand, topic resources, and extra activities. Offering government-funded places to 3 and 4-year-olds results in the Nursery suffering a significant financial shortfall for every hour that we are open, which is simply not sustainable.


    Government funding is intended to cover the costs of The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework. In December 2016, the Department for Education issued guidance on charging for additional costs and stated that 'Parents can therefore expect to pay for any meals offered by the provider alongside their free entitlement. Parents can also expect to pay for other consumables or additional activities offered by the provider.'


    At Leigh Lollipops Nursery, we address this by implementing the Consumables and Additional Services/Activities Charge.

Leigh Lollipops Nursery is a hidden gem, nurturing and educational. Both my children attend this nursery and shriek with excitement as they approach the gates. The staff are warm, welcoming, attentive and engaging, they know our children's natures so well. The approach is understated and encompasses
the philosophies of Montessori, forest schools, free play and more in a subtle yet effective way. Manners, sharing and potty training are reinforced. The learning environment is creative with the children partaking every step of the way, with themed activities based around nature, festivities, space and so much more. Our children love the reading corner and the multitude of STEM games left out for them to explore. The outdoor space is full of slides, bikes, giant magnifying glasses, hula-hoops, building blocks, diggers, painting and more. In short, I fully trust the staff and the leadership of the manager in helping raise my toddlers into confident and caring little people. Thank you Leigh Lollipops Nursery.

Leigh Lollipops Nursery came recommended and after visiting there one morning I didn’t look any where else to send my three year old. The setting is lovely, a huge garden for the children to play, lots of indoor toys and equipment, the staff very friendly, approachable and easy to speak to. My little
one settled in immediately and loves going. He always has the best time. His confidence has grown massively and he’s made lots of friends. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Leigh Lollipops Nursery to anyone else looking for a preschool and nursery. I feel very happy that we chose Leigh Lollipops Nursery.

My two sons began their time at Leigh Lollipops Nursery last September and have adored every moment spent there. The team are incredibly dedicated, the ladies work so hard to keep the children safe and happy, especially during this pandemic. Couldn’t rate the nursery any higher.

The moment I walked into Leigh Lollipops, I sensed the nurturing environment. Since both of my children have flourished there. The team are approachable, supportive and encouraging, and their imaginative activities have prepared my children well for starting school. Any issues are dealt with professionally

Lollipops provided the additional attention and tender loving care that my daughter required that nourished her into a confident little lady very soon after starting nursery. They also provided very good structure and balance of both outdoor and indoor activities which gives a wide variety of experiences

After my eldest daughter attended Lollipops and loved it, I had no hesitation to send my younger daughter as soon as she was old enough, as it was the only nursery I would consider for her. It’s her favourite place to be and she asks every day if she can go to nursery! All the staff at Lollipops are
amazing and I feel very comfortable leaving kitty with them as I know she is safe and having fun as well as learning along the way. The nursery itself has a lovely big outside space and looks out into fields.

My son started at Leigh Lollipops aged 2.4 months and he has taken to it like a duck to water. He wakes every morning and asks if it is Lollipops today. The staff are so friendly, knowledgable and caring. The activities and learning experiences that are offered here are brilliant and really extend and
capture my son's interests. I feel very happy to have found such a little gem of a preschool and I would highly recommend it to any friend.

Our daughter started attending Lollipops when she was two. In the beginning, she was very reluctant to be left alone in nursery but with great care and understanding from the staff, she settled into nursery beautifully. Fast forward a year, she now enjoys her regular nursery mornings and the Lollipops
team helped her developed a lot socially. The nursery is very pro-active in keeping us updated on her progress and we have regular discussions on her needs. We were given a lot of coaching and advice on how we can help her at home as she grows. I recommend this great nursery to any parent looking for an organic, non-institutional environment that provides personalised care and coaching to their children.

We started our now 3-year-old daughter at Lollipops last September 2019. She has been extremely happy, always excited about going and calls it “my Leigh Lollipops “ to everyone she speaks to about it and her day. She has grown so much since she began and is more and more helpful and eager to learn as
a result. The staff are very professional, kind and caring. She always has warm and happy words to report back on her interactions with them and the children too. I ask their advice on matters of behaviour and situations arising as a mother and they have so much knowledge to offer both from experience as teachers and their own experience as mothers. We sing their praises to anyone who is looking and knows that it is the best place for our little girl. I highly recommend Leigh Lollipops.

We have watched our little boy develop and thrive during the 18 months he has been at Lollipops. The staff are lovely and real attention is paid to each child's needs - even going as far as to get out toys that are your child's favourite during that all-important settling in phase. The focus on lots
of outside time has helped our son really enjoy his mornings - he even gets excited in the car on his way to Lollipops wondering what he will be doing and what toys will be out that day. What more could you want from a nursery than a child that is excited to walk through the doors on each visit?

My daughter is very happy and confident at Lollipops. She found it hard when starting and being left but the staff were brilliant and she has now asked to go extra days!
The garden is amazing and it’s lovely they spend so much time outside.
The staff are so friendly and caring and my daughter has
a great time and has learnt lots since being at Lollipops.
I would highly recommend it!

My daughter loves going to Lollipops, she even asks to go on the weekends!


The staff are all very warm and caring and my daughter has really grown in confidence since going there. I feel that she will be well prepared for starting school in September.

Our little girl absolutely loves Leigh Lollipops.
From her first day at the nursery, she has felt welcomed and has always been involved in activities. She has become so much more confident in her self.
I found it such a daunting process finding the right nursery for us but we couldn’t be happier with
our choice. As a parent, I have always felt welcomed and involved in nursery life and our son will be starting in April. He can not wait to be part of lollipops. He never wants to leave when we drop his big sister off in the mornings.


All the staff are amazing. My daughter talks so highly of them and is genuinely excited to go to nursery in general mornings.


The setting of the nursery is gorgeous especially the garden. The children are so lucky to have such a wonderful garden to explore.

I cannot thank the staff at Leigh Lollipops enough. My son joined in January after a very unsettling few months of moving. Lollipops have nurtured his needs to make him feel safe, happy, loved and a part of the Lollipops family. His confidence and happiness has come so far in just 6 weeks.

Leigh Lollipops Nursery is a fantastic nursery. The outdoor area is what swayed it for us, with the lovely rural setting and plenty of space for our active little boy to run off steam! The staff are incredibly friendly and all invested in the nursery and the children’s welfare. There is a low turnover
of staff too, which I feel greatly benefits the children as they really get to know them. I would highly recommend this nursery!

Our youngest daughter has been attending Leigh Lollipops for approximately 5months and we are extremely happy and plan to keep her there until she starts school or we move away. With our older daughters, we have experience of using a total of 4 other nurseries and would grade Leigh Lollipops to be the
best. I feel totally confident that the experienced and caring staff would provide completely appropriate action, no matter the issue. They are ALL trained in paediatric first aid, they are ALL friendly and caring and the setting is just wonderful and allows lots and lots of free play outside. Our daughter is excited to go each time and talks about her time there happily with anyone who will listen!
