At Montessori by Busy Bees Wandsworth they offer a child-centred approach by implementing the Montessori pedagogy and philosophy. They follow the children’s interests and promote high levels of independence, always recognising that children learn at different paces.

The Montessori and EYFS qualified team work together to ensure that, from babies' early developmental years through to preparation for primary school, each child realises their full potential through carefully developed individual learning plans.

The Nursery values the parents’ views and have a strong partnership with them. They offer three formal parent-teacher meetings a year, a fortnightly newsletter and they also have a Parent Committee which meets with them twice per term.

The Nursery has three classrooms (Babies, Toddlers and Pre-school) and a huge garden that serves as an extension to the rooms, providing meaningful learning experiences.

They do regular outings to local parks, library and Vauxhall farm, and they also offer Spanish+Music lessons and Forest School sessions weekly.

The Italian on-site chef prepares homemade meals providing healthy and well-balanced nutrition.

My child has benefited immensely from attending this Montessori. I have also been very impressed by a particular teacher. This lady has gone above and beyond ensuring my child is cared for and supported. I see her as exceptionally caring to all the children in her class and am very grateful to send
my child to a place with employees like her. I was very apprehensive about bringing my son to this nursery as he started at 6 months before walking and talking, however, I am very impressed at the developmental progress he has made from attending here he has become very advanced for his age and loves going to nursery.

Our daughter started at the Montessori by Busy Bees Wandsworth nursery in January 2022 when she was two and has been extremely happy there. With caring, friendly staff, our daughter has thrived in a nurturing environment that has helped build her confidence. She has required additional support with
her speech and language development and the nursery has been proactive in helping us access the right professional support and complementing that with the activities they do with her in the nursery setting. Our daughter is particularly fond of her primary carer, who is excellent. The nursery provides lots of opportunities to engage parents (e.g Mother's and Father's Day Breakfasts, reading for World Book Day etc) and provides regular detailed feedback. Our daughter loves the weekly trips to the Oasis Nature Garden and the variety of activities, such as baking, music and arts and crafts. All of this has culminated in a very well-deserved Ofsted Outstanding rating last year!

Our daughter has been at the nursery since she was just over a year old, starting off at three days a week and now full-time. She is just over three now and I feel has thrived in each of the three rooms - baby, toddler and now pre-school. The staff are so caring and committed and the mix of long-serving
members of the team and the recent additions seem to work well. The outdoor space has had a great revamp. Chef does a fantastic job of providing a healthy and varied range of meals and extras like multi-language music classes and the regular visits to the community garden are also much appreciated.

What a fantastic nursery. My daughter absolutely loves it here and we owe a huge amount to the staff for making settling in so easy for her. There are so many activities they do with the children, that it will help her development. We are kept up to date regularly on the app with pictures and food she
has eaten that day. We are leaving soon only because we are moving and genuinely considered postponing the move so we don't have to leave. Would definitely recommend!

I am extremely happy with the care my son received during his time at this nursery. He attended for a year before recently starting school and he developed so well in that time. The staff really care about the children and it is evident as the children love going there. The staff in the preschool room
are amazing as well as the manager and deputy. They took great care of my son and were great at providing meals according to his allergies. My son did not want to leave and we both miss the nursery and staff very much.

Both of our sons attend this nursery, and have done for the past three years. They both love it there, and we have been really impressed with the care and support shown by all the staff. The space is very welcoming and they have a good outdoor space (for London) in which the children spend a lot of
time, as well as organising trips out of the nursery where possible. We get regular updates from the nursery on the boys' progress and daily reports with photos showing what they have been up to, which are lovely to receive. They do a lot of different activities every day, and get a great balance of learning and playing. Overall we have been extremely pleased with the nursery and would highly recommend it to other parents.

My daughter is 3 and has attended Busy Bees nursery since when she was 2 years old. Overall the nursery is lovely, staff are very reliable and always update me with what my daughter has done that day and how she has gotten on. Staff are really caring towards the children in general, my daughter is really
happy there, have never had any issues whatsoever, she enjoys playing with her friends and speaks about them all the time at home. Her speech progression has also got really well since being at the nursery, which is one thing I was really worried about in the beginning, but my daughter has definitely come a long way since attending Busy Bees. The nursery is clean, toilets are also very clean compared to other nurseries I have visited in the past. I would definitely recommend anyone sending their child/children to Busy Bees. I can't fault them for anything - any minor issues get resolved fairly quickly. The director of the nursery is also lovely.

Shame I can't choose zero. That would be a more appropriate rating. My child was demonised for speaking out about the incidents that have happened to him at nursery. Instead of believing what he had said they tried to cover up bullying, serious injuries, and victim blame instead of addressing the core
concerns of parents regarding the ratio. If there is enough staff serious incidents would not happen. The issue isn't with the staff working inside the nursery, they are only able to work with the situation they find themselves in. I hold management responsible because they know they are not in ratio and are more concerned about the overall budget than the children in their care's safety. The escalation of negligent behaviour only continued when I removed my child. Lying to Ofsted to cover their own backs, blaming our home life as the reason my child had been hurt. I would hate if any other child was harmed because they are failing to provide the correct amount of staff. Do not send your kid.

Great nursery, my son attends full time and started there six months ago. The team in the baby room are fantastic and really made the settling in the process during the pandemic as good as possible. My son loves going to nursery, there are no tears at drop off now; he practically runs in. The team do
lovely activities and lots of painting, going out to the park/outings as much as possible (pandemic allowing). The nursery team have acted quickly on feedback and improved daily communication by means of an app with notifications for nappies, naps and meals and updates on activities, with some pictures too. The only downside of the nursery is a small outdoor space, however, what space they do have, it is used well and there are plans to develop it with plants. I have no hesitation in recommending this nursery, the team is great!

My two children go to this nursery, and I couldn’t recommend it more highly
My youngest has taken time to settle, and the staff have been incredibly gentle with him, which has resulted in a very settled and happy little boy.
Staff are always open if you want to discuss anything and are innovative
in finding new ways to engage the children, keeping them thinking and learning. Promoting independence is a high priority, I love this.
There is a chef onsite cooking fresh food every day, and the manager is warm, friendly and genuine. The nursery has such a lovely community feel, which is surprising and a bonus.

We love this nursery! They have been so wonderful and warm with our daughter and taken a very pragmatic, proactive and sympathetic stance with whatever comes up (us changing pick up times and all the awkwardness post-lockdown). My son has been attending this nursery since he was 11-months and he’s now 31-months. The baby room and toddler room are amazing, full of caring staff who provide lots of varied and well thought out activities. The outside space is fantastic I and we particularly liked that each room had its own space
so didn’t need to co-ordinate the different groups going out at different times (which we noticed at other nurseries). Also, it was nice that (prior to lockdown) the different groups sometimes played together. The chef is super friendly and produces fantastic food my son loves and really takes on any feedback we’ve given. The nursery recently got refurbished and has a brilliant new manager. It’s small and intimate in feel which is so nice compared to some other more institutional style nurseries. I would recommend this nursery for anyone looking for a child-led, independence building, community nursery.

We have 2 children at the nursery with my youngest starting at 6 months. The staff have been nothing but loving and caring and providing the perfect nurturing environment for them to grow. This is a fantastic Montessori with a lovely family ethos. My daughter has been here for the past 2 years since she was 6 months old. Throughout this time she has been supported by a committed team of Montessori practitioners who I trust implicitly. The nursery has good staff retention so my daughter
has had the same faces looking after her throughout her time there. My daughter is supported to do a huge amount of different activities and is always coming home with amazing creations. There is a lovely focus on creativity. The team are great at taking the children out so (before lockdown), my daughter would go to the park and the library on a weekly basis, as well as to a nature garden, towards Stockwell. The nursery is run by a wonderful lady, who is everything you could want for in someone responsible for your child. Incredibly calm, very caring, great at listening, she gets to know each child inside out and is each child’s biggest cheerleader. This nursery is fab.

Our baby started in the baby room at the Wandsworth Busy Bees Montessori nursery at 11 months and is now 19 months old. He settled in very easily with loving support from the carers and has loved it ever since (as do we!). The rooms had a modern refurb last year and so are clean, bright, fresh and
full of lovely, intriguing and educational toys and activities. It's also homely and soft which feels perfect for the little ones. His key worker has developed a wonderful relationship with him, and the care and development he gets feel very personalised in supporting him as he grows and develops. The children spend a lot of time outdoors (all year round!) which is a lovely complement to the indoor space and our toddler has also always loved the forest school and Spanish music lessons weekly classes. We couldn't ask for an environment that feels more safe, caring, personalised and great for our son's development - we feel very lucky to have a place at this very special nursery.

My baby is really happy at this nursery, although it’s her first time. She bonded quickly with her key person and baby room staff. She learns many things every day. I chose this nursery because the staff, including the manager, is really loving, caring, friendly and welcoming, they have a huge garden,
and they have a chef who is making food every day from scratch, and is serving fruits instead of desserts/sweets, which was so important for me. They also cater to food allergies or intolerances. The nursery is refurbished almost completely now and looking much better than it was before. The manager is working really hard every day to make there better and better and implements her original, positive ideas. They have regular outings to local parks, the nature park, and the library which is great. They also have a Spanish music class in all rooms every Wednesday. Plus, they are a Montessori Nursery. I am really content with the level of care, staff, activities, and facilities there.

Our child has been attending the toddler room since last year, and we can see the very positive effect this nursery is having on his development. The staff are very caring and have the interest of the children at heart. They are also qualified and the ratios of children to staff are good. The chef makes
great food from scratch and caters for different food requirements. When issues are raised the nursery tends to reply timely.
The facilities are good, if a bit worn out (hence the upcoming refurbishment), on the smaller size and near a busy road (this is, after all, inner London). The nursery makes the most of the surrounding area with regular trips to museums, gardens and parks. The community of parents and children is also very nice and diverse - we often meet each other in nearby parks.
The overall service is very convenient for working parents, with a full day offering to allow for the commute to and from work.

Job Title: Centre Director

Hi, my name is Marta, and I am the Centre Director at Montessori by Busy Bees, South Lambeth.


I have been working in childcare for the past 13 years and love every minute spent in the nursery. Growing up in a childcare environment (both my mum and grandma were early years teachers) has prepared me well for my career. I moved from a company that had a bespoke curriculum based on Forest School, Bruna, Reggio Emilia and Montessori theories and I realised that I would love to work in a full Montessori environment as it provides unique opportunities for each child to thrive in their own way and pace. I believe that the Montessori method of teaching is the best start we can offer to our children. 


I joined Busy Bees, South Lambeth because I’ve fallen in love with the building, children and team on my first visit. I believe that all children should be given the opportunity to reach their full potential and working closely with parents and the lovely team, here at South Lambeth, will help us achieve this.
