Wee Gems Corstorphine Nursery

Nothing against old managers but since the new manager has started at Wee Gems, the morale amongst staff has picked up and the improvements happening within Wee Gems for the children have been amazing. My daughter started at Wee Gems when she was just 18 months old and she is now coming on 4. So the improvements over that period and the staff are all doing a fab job.

Our child has been welcomed so warmly into the wee gems team and although there are still tears at drop-off, all of the staff are brilliant and comforting. Our child has developed so much in many aspects and we are safe in the knowledge they are being well looked after. The communication has improved dramatically since the new manager has come on board and there is much less staff turnover. The staff are all very friendly and approachable. Overall we are very happy with the care.

Although our pre-school daughter is often a little reluctant to say goodbye to Daddy at drop-off, she always comes home excited and happy about her day. She has a great bond with her key worker who takes time to gently stretch her in learning. In general, the staff do a great job tailoring activities to key points in the year, important development topics and also the children's own interests each day. (Her dietary requirements are also catered for happily.) She gets plenty of opportunity for outdoor physical play, enjoys dance classes (at a small additional cost) and regularly comes home with traces of paint on her! The nursery has also been effective, understanding, and patient dealing with the logistical and emotional difficulties of Covid over the last couple of years, for children, carers, and staff. Overall we're very happy with Wee Gems.

I have three daughters. Two of them have attended Wee Gems since they were 3 years old and 11 months old (respectively). The eldest has now moved on and the younger of the two girls is now in the pre-school room. Both the girls absolutely love Wee Gems and have been well supported in their learning, play and social interactions. Our youngest is only 3 months old but will be attending Wee Gems when I return to work as a primary school teacher after my maternity leave. The staff at Wee Gems really got to know our girls as individuals and keep us well informed of their experiences and development at nursery. Our oldest daughter loves coming to pick her little sister up and the staff are still keen to hear all of her news and take the time to still make her feel part of the Wee Gems family. I couldn’t be happier with the kind and caring environment in which our girls have thrived at Wee Gems and would highly recommend the nursery to others.

Joined my daughter there when she was 3 years in March 2021. I was very much worried about her as she is very much dependent on me and how she gonna manage in nursery. But to my surprise, she was happy going there just in 2 to 3 days and she loved the staff there. I could see much improvement in her English communication although it's not our spoken language at home. Teaching wise also they are good with some weekly concept. Overall very happy.

Staff are very friendly and caring. My daughter has become so confident and independent since she has started nursery. The activities support the development of the children. Really impressed by the patience of the staff.

My daughter has been going to the nursery for the last 8 months. She seems to be looked after very well as she is always excited to go to the nursery. It was a bit of a tough time since last year because of the pandemic but the nursery has always been proactive in providing necessary information from time to time. I hope we will get an opportunity to see inside the nursery, the setup and to have a feel for how the kids are spending their time on various activities.

My child has settled from his third day in the nursery explains a lot about the place. He is very happy there and the staff are very supportive too. The waiting time while pick and drop could be improved. Thanks.

The Wee Gems is an excellent nursery they care, time and thought they took to make sure my daughter who is under 1 was settled was fantastic. The amount of time they spend outside is great to hear and the daily updates we get when I collect my daughter is great to get an understanding of how they have been that day.

My son has been here since he was 6 months, and he has grown so much and learnt so much. The staff at Wee Gems have been amazing with him and we will always be grateful to them for everything they do for the children.

Good nursery with welcoming staff. My daughter enjoys it a lot and every time I ask her, do you want to go to nursery, she says, yes. She eats well in nursery, we see a lot of growth in her, singing rhymes, painting, learning her colours and name etc.

My son started coming here when he was 2.7 years old and soon will be going off to Primary 1, but no doubt, this is going to be his favourite place. Staff are very friendly and encourage kids to explore their interests.

My son absolutely loves it at Wee Gems nursery. He has been going since he was 6 months and I wouldn’t send him anywhere else. The staff are amazing and he adores them. Highly recommend this nursery to anyone.

My little one joined the nursery in March 2019 and I am thrilled with the level of care she is given. I truly believe the staff care about her physical, mental, social development.

When we arrive each day, she’s greeted with smiles and when I pick her up, the team have plenty examples of what she has played with or done that day, as well as sleep and food updates!

The outside play area is lovely and I am a real advocate for outside messy play regardless of the weather so this is great.

Most importantly, my little one is happy and I know she is well looked after.

The staff at Wee Gems Corstorphine Nursery take a genuine interest in the children and are very responsive to their needs. The range of activities offered is great; from messy play to educational activities, physical exercise and fun. I know my son loves participating and gains a lot from the social interaction and learning opportunities.

Above all my daughter has settled in quite nicely, the activities are stimulating and there is an open receptive mind regarding feedback.

My daughter uses the nursery on an as and when required basis as we do not always have a childcare solution. She is 15 months old and loves the 1-2 room as much as we do. staff are friendly and are accommodating and always make us feel welcome.
