I honestly couldn't recommend the nursery enough. My son started with Building Blocks in 2020, and his development has come on leaps and bounds. The staff go above and beyond for all the children. My son has a great relationship with them and is excited to go in every morning. They are so caring, kind
and nurturing and really make you feel part of the Building Blocks family. I will be sad to say goodbye when the time for him to go to big school comes. A huge thanks to the team for being so amazing.

Always a professional, but extremely caring atmosphere, putting a parent's mind at rest. Both our sons have attended over the years and loved their experience there.
Great structure to the day and socially a great start sharing with other children.

My daughter has been attending this nursery since she was 11 months old and absolutely loves it there. The staff are extremely caring and supportive and she has developed into a very happy and bright little girl and this is certainly down to the care and love of the staff! They provide nutritious meals,
lots of fun activities for the children and I see nothing but happy smiling faces when I drop my daughter off and pick her up. I feel extremely lucky to have found this nursery after finding the return to work difficult and leaving the care of my daughter to others, they do such a wonderful job and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to any parent.

This nursery looked after my son from four months to 3 1/2 yrs. He went in a baby and left a confident bright happy little boy. The work they did with him not only encouraged his confidence and personality but has helped him to become a very sharp boy who went into school with an understanding far ahead
of where they expected. I'm so happy with this nursery and will be sending my daughter there this year. I would highly recommend this nursery to anyone who wants a loving and encouraging environment for their child to flourish in.

Both my boys came to the nursery from approximately 14 months and I would highly recommend it. All of the staff are caring, kind and have the health and safety at the forefront of everything they do. They encouraged development in all areas and continually communicated to me regarding my child's development
which was a great help and reassurance, as my oldest child had very low confidence. With the nursery's ethos, care and support from the nursery, my children were well prepared for starting school.

This is such a great nursery! My son loves going there, he always has so much fun. The staff are absolutely lovely, very caring and professional. I feel very reassured leaving my son in their care. They also have really nutritious meals homecooked at the nursery every day which is really important to
me.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.298)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.298) out of 10 for Building Blocks Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  1. The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
  2. The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  1. 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months. The Average Rating of 5.000 for Building Blocks Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 5
  2. 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5'). The 4.298 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Building Blocks Nursery is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    1. 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
    2. 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 43 number of registered child places is 8.6. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 8.6 = 0.698
  3. When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
  4. If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Kaylie Dudding

Job Title: Nursery Manager Joined: 2005

Hello, I'm Kaylie, and I've been part of Building Blocks for 18 years. I started as a student during my CACHE Diploma Level 3 in childcare, and after college, I transitioned to full-time work here. Over the years, I've worked in all three rooms, collaborating with supervisors and nursery nurses to ensure the well-being of the children and provide engaging activities.

I achieved my Level 5 in Leadership and Management, leading to my appointment as Nursery Manager in January 2020. In this role, I oversee the day-to-day operations of the nursery, prioritizing the welfare of both the staff and the children. Responsibilities include maintaining updated policies, and procedures, and conducting thorough risk assessments.

My passion for working with children has always driven me, to help them learn and develop their unique personalities. At home, I am a parent of three, happily married for a decade. My life is quite busy, especially with my husband and 9-year-old involved in the drama group, and my youngest, a 7-year-old, progressing in karate from a yellow to an orange belt.

Job Title: Deputy Manager Joined: 2003

I'm Natalie Watts, 37 years old, residing in Rhondda Cynon Taff, and actively engaged in the field of childcare.

At 17, I completed my secondary education with 7 GCSEs and began my professional journey as an apprentice at Building Blocks. Over the years, I've progressed to the roles of Room Leader and Deputy Manager.

My choice to pursue a career as a Nursery Nurse stems from a passion for aiding children in their growth and development. The nurturing aspect of this profession resonates with me on a personal level.

Building strong connections during a child's early years is at the core of what I do. I genuinely believe that these bonds set the stage for positive outcomes in their learning, development, and growing independence.
Seeing those moments of growth and change is incredibly fulfilling, and I'm proud to play a part in making a positive impact as a Nursery Nurse.

On the academic front, I've successfully completed my NVQ Levels 3 and 5 in childcare, underscoring my commitment to continuous professional development.

Outside of work, I value quality time spent with my family, whether it be leisurely beach walks or exploring trampoline parks. Creating lasting memories with loved ones brings me joy.

Describing me? Think compassionate, caring, loyal, and trustworthy. And yes, I'm not afraid to get a little silly!

The kids at the nursery love it, and we always have a blast. Life's too short not to have some fun, right?

Job Title: Deputy Assistant Manager Joined: 2002

Hi, I’m Louise, and I've dedicated nearly 22 years of my career to Building Blocks Nursery. I began right after college, stepping into the role of a nursery nurse. Over the years, my journey led me to the position of room leader in the Baby room. Here, my responsibilities include crafting engaging activities that contribute to the comprehensive development of the infants under my care.

I'm fortunate to collaborate with an exceptional team that ensures a secure environment for the little ones to learn through play.

Amidst the challenges of the pandemic, I seized the opportunity to enhance my skills. Completing my level 5 management course paved the way for me to step into the role of Assistant Deputy Manager. In this capacity, I closely collaborate with the management team, providing support for the day-to-day operations of the nursery.
Caring has always been a fundamental aspect of my nature. Beyond my responsibilities at the nursery, I extend my caregiving to a family member coping with health challenges at home.

Outside of work, I enjoy going on lots of outdoor adventures with my dog to improve my fitness and health. I also love spending time at my caravan in West Wales and socialising with good friends...

The most rewarding aspect of my role is witnessing each child's individual growth and personality development. I love listening to their stories and gaining insights into their perspectives on the world.
